Thank you. I like to see someone else do it before I install updates. I'm fine with mine as-is for now anyway. 😂

Wow this was a lifesaver for me! I’m new and had the FT-710 and WSTJ-X on my MacBook… but unfortunately was limited by the unavailability of Mac ham software. Muddling through the driver issues reminded me why I left PCs for Mac years ago. I still hate Windows, but your video made a huge difference in getting things to work for me. Thanks for the amazing instructions!

Very usefull video. For some constructive feedback, your audio levels vary from low to high between clips, if you would make them more constant it would make your videos easier to watch.
@ND3N8 ай бұрын
I had noticed that. I usually have my clip on wireless mic as my prime source, but I just went with my boom mic. Unfortunately, it is very directional, so if I move just a bit, the audio will be affected. Tried to fix in post processing, and really should have re-recorded everything, but like I mentioned, I’ve been under the weather…

Amen. The answer to the age-old question of old age: I NEED the extra speaker because of all the other extra speakers before it. 😂
@ND3N2 ай бұрын
I agree. I usually du that, except during contests when I want to hear if someone is calling me while I’m sending a CQ. A few manufacturers have switched from mechanical to solid state relays, but only in the more advanced (read: expensive) rigs. Each mechanical relay has an expected life of a given number of cycles before they fail. That said, I’ve never experienced such a failure, but if they do, it looks like a pretty simple job to remove and replace.

followed your steps, downloaded display first, after the download the radio turned off, turned the radio back on and it said to insert firmware sd card and download, it downloads and then the radio turns off, turn it back on and it said to insert sd firmware card error 001. It appears the memory in the radio has been wiped and it will not take the new firmware. Do have any ideas how to fix this?
@ND3N6 ай бұрын
Pull the SD card out then do a reset on the rig. Once reset, insert the SD card and format it. Then try to update the firmware again.

How are you addressing the 710 issue where it doesn't store power levels for specific modes. For example, if on DATA-U you set the power to 40W then switch to USB and set the power to 100W then switch back to DATA-U the power is still 100W. On the 991a the power level for each mode is stored.
@ND3N8 ай бұрын
I suspect that is because of the band stacking schema used for the rigs…. But I’m not sure. Will do some research and do a video about what I find….

I think I'm almost there with the Yahzoo 710. Can copy stations but they don't seem to hear me. When you went to system-sound-properties... Are you using windows 11 or 10? I'm using 10. That may be my problem of getting a screen like the one I mentioned here. Anyway, it's been a real pain in the butt but I'm getting closer but yet to make my 1st contact. Yesterday I went for 7 hours debugging things and watching videos. Kept changing the configurations till I FINALLY GOT a green button. Got to be a better way to do this.
@ND3N6 ай бұрын
I’m using windows 11, but the process is the same as on Windows 10. You did say that you were successful with FT8, but not with FT4? Because FT4 is a shorter waveform, 7.5 seconds vs. ft8 at 15 seconds, timing is more critical… so make sure your time is synchronized. Also, put your meter in ALC and make sure something is showing there. You want to see a deflection of 1/3 to 1/2 of the ALC scale - below that you’re not putting out a strong signal and above it you’re signal is starting to get distorted. I’m going to fire up my 710 and will take a few screenshots of my FT4 setup (though, as mentioned before, if FT8 works then FT4 should be working.
@RobertMacCready6 ай бұрын
@@ND3N Many thanks for the reply. I'm not getting any deflection of the ALC. I tried PO but still nothing. I am seeing all the calls and everything else coming into the radio and FT8. BUT I've not been able to connect to a single station. Spent most of the day reading the 701 manual and another one I got on Amazon. It looks like everything is working but I don't detect anything outgoing which could be the reason no one has connected to me. Very frustrating!!!!
