FAQ:
Why ‘the religious hippie?’
It was a nickname my friends gave me when I was in highschool because I dressed like a hippie and was a ‘wild child’, when I came back into my faith they thought ‘the religious hippie’ was now a more appropriate nickname and it stuck!
Who is your favorite saint? Saint Francis of Assisi
Where do you live? Chicago

Thank you so much for doing this video. This is such an important topic for me. I'm 35 years old from Germany and still struggle immensely with my identity due to being heavily bullied in school and having an overall very difficult start into life being born with heart defects among other things. I am also easily influenced by others and became very leftist (and Wicca) in University until I found my way back home thanks to you Amber and Matt from Pints with Aquinas (among other conservative youtubers like Father Mike Schmitz, Ben Shapiro, Brett Cooper, Matt Walsh and Candice Owens). But the two of you were the main reason why I came back to the Catholic Faith. And I am so very grateful for the work you guys do! God bless you.

Its always an amazing day when you post a video. Identity is something our generation is really struggling with. Ill see kids being "whatever they feel they are" but only hurting their identity more, and schools are only encouraging this behavior. I think a lot of my peers and fellow students try everything else expect God. Thank you for the wonderful post, youre videos make me very proud to be Catholic we need more channels like you but I dont think anything will come close to your wonderful Christian content.❤✝️👑

I feel like she told my life's story. I am still a people pleaser and wannabe at age 32. I fear being seen as a Catholic. I fear being seen as a prude or that I am boring. I think I relate to everything she said. A particular saint that seems to nag me is Saint Rose of Lima. I wish I was renowned for my beauty. I had the exact opposite experience as a younger person of being considered ugly. I still struggle with my physical appearance. I used to feel uncomfortable with Saint Maria Goretti.

Yes you are right, at one point i was like you was and it took me a while to change but its worse it. I used to think of woman as a sex machine 😕 evrything was about sex but now i just want a woman to go pray with and worship God together. I had depression and anxiety and i used to do non catholic meditation but i released all i need was Jesus. I used to think sainthood is something i can't reach but as you said its all satans work now my life goal is to walk Jesus path and live like a saint live like a follower of Jesus I want people to see The goodness of Christ in my life. I changed not because of me but because of him All LOVING GOD. I used to have fear from the future but now i have faith that my future is in his holy hands. God bless you ❤✝️ May Christ protect you and your family ♱

Your story is a lot like mine, I too was a theater kid, had a goth phase, (though I enjoyed mine and still like the aesthetic, though my wife would never let me wear that kind of stuff now) and had a lot of LGBT friends as I essentially grew up hanging out at an LGBT safezone. I fell away from the faith at 13, spent 9 years as a wiccan and then Atheist before coming back to Christ when I was 22 (though Im a protestant, Presbyterian specifically). Its been 9 years since I came back to Christ and the ways in which he has changed me are too numerous to count. All that being said I really enjoyed listening to your testimony, it helped me to think of my own again and to praise God for his mercies to a sinner such as I. Now I'm off to go blast MCR and paint my nails black....😂

I appreciate the openness with the video on your journey to becoming Catholic. I wanted to offer some thoughts however, on your understanding of sainthood, as you said that the key to sainthood is mental prayer. If you read the Bible, I am not sure that Jesus specifically recommends any certain type of prayer. But what you will see in the Bible, is that what is pleasing to Jesus above all else, is sincere love for other people. This is repeated and demonstrated in many passages, such as the Parable of the Good Samaritan, the Sheep and the Goats, the Rich Man and Lazarus, the Two Great Commandments, and 1 Corinthians 13.

Hi I had to cut ties with my friends due to being mocked and the toxicity and crude joking. I was wondering if my old friends ever changed from their toxic ways and became catholic and started following Christianity does that mean I have to let them back to my inner circle of friends (like buddy buddy) or we can still be friends like the outer circle from loving from a distance?

Some history on the word confidence. Confidence isn't a thing, at least not in the way we typically think. It's derived from conman, it originally meant confide(ence), meaning confidence in someone else to entrust something to. Modernity made it an individual thing. In relation to God you should always remember freedom is dependant on God's Grace, so merit doesn't really exist either, anything you do, you did because of synergy with God.

The Goths are a Germanic tribe who conquered various areas across most of Europe and parts of the Muslim world, and converted to Christianity in the 4th century. I'm glad they have found a way to re-emerge in modern youth culture.

I'm a music nerd. The harder that rock music gets towards approaching or being metal, the more certain underlying (right-leaning) themes become more common, and the music ranges from people who were always or are now atheist, people who worship Viking or other pagan gods, literal Satanists, pretend-Satanists trying to be edgy, full-on Christian crusaders (Demon Hunter is pretty blatant), normal people who are not Job struggling with faith due to certain identity-related or collective issues ("Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins; the band Underoath). Or, one of my favorites as an art connoisseur is artists with ambiguous religious themes, such that you can interpret them as either extremely crypto-Christian (extremely as in very "Old Testament" & literal/fundamentalist) or instead as mocking Christianity or even Satanic, due to mixing religious imagery with really dark themes (spiritual combat, holy war, and being assaulted by demons are generally dark experiences [until you win] that can be expressed through art intact for people with similar experiences to be sympathized with and explore), which is a category people like Poppy, In This Moment, or even the dark one Marilyn Manson fall into to different degrees. (Manson covered Johnny Cash's "God's Gonna Cut You Down," and sang in another song "I never hated the One True God, but the god of the people I hated.") I think part of being a Christian is not just embodying the religion oneself, but helping to save others, and I think it's useful to understand why people who are at the edge of faith are there, because they are likely millions of others afflicted with the same problems causing them to lose or reject the faith, or fail to receive motivation and inspiration to live their best lives from the religion. In terms of converting, I think it's obvious people on or near the edges are an extremely important group to try and understand better, especially when trying to convert full on commies has you banging your head into a brick wall which may have automated lethal defenses. I've heard the Russo-Ukrainian (from Donbas) female-fronted clean-singing metal band "Jinjer" describe themselves as "atheistic" in interviews, with the exact word you used here to describe your rock phase, yet the singer does come from a Christian upbringing and uses some Christian symbolism in songs like "Noah," where you can take the altered bad ending where the ark sinks and interpret it 2-dimensionally as mocking the religion to be mean, or more deeply in 3D as an expression of someone's existential exasperation and hopelessness, based on certain deep problems that Christians are unaware of or even just unwilling to address, such as self-genocide.
@ShimobeSama
@ShimobeSama Жыл бұрын
In my research, I've come to the conclusion that the Bible does not condone it, contrary to popular belief among people afflicted by knowledge of and discomfort with this problem yet unable to receive any comfort from other humans in the Christian community, and instead left to their own devices like me to explore independently and see if Christianity has anything uplifting or empowering in terms of struggling against other members of your ethnic group committing your entire ethnic group and similar ones to self-genocide on your behalf without your or even the majority of the group's consent. The worst outcome of this issue going completely unadressed and swept under the rug is when people actually see Christianity itself as the ideological root cause of their self-genocide and come to hate it, not simply switching over to worshiping Thor or Odin or Freya or Zeus or Athena out of love for an ethnic group, but going further and worshiping Satan out of hatred for Christianity and what they perceive it has done to their ethnic group. The silence is kind of understandable, since the Church will be way more persecuted and forced to conform to Marxist dogma than they already are if they even acknowledge this problem even is a problem or even exists. Or do they?! How can you tell if a Catholic congregation is leftist [schism plx] or nice/normal like us? Christianity has always found ways of secretly communicating things in all its history of persecution, but I feel the effort is so lacking in this case. Maybe I just don't understand the code at all and am just making up my own code on my own all alone? So what would you tell someone who thinks Christianity is the root cause of their ethnic group not existing in 1 or 2 centuries due to people suppressing their birth rates Satanically (now brazenly brainwashing toddlers into castrating themselves before 18) and infinitely replacing them almost exclusively with people from the most hostile groups against yours who openly declare themselves as enemies of your ethnic group at very high percentages and regularly commit violence against yours, which you are then instead punished for by the people bringing them in while suppressing your birth rates towards zero? I have some ideas, but they're a bit complex and hard to grasp, and controversial, since it involves taking certain Old Testament verses more seriously than people are willing to, and reinterpreting Jesus' parables about plants and farming and other things in the Bible as accurate explanations of how our understanding of how modern evolutionary theory works, thereby establishing Jesus Christ as the revealer of holy, sacred Evolution 2 millennia before Darwin. Obviously you can't expect the early church fathers to understand that at a Darwin-level, let alone at a Jesus-level, so they came up with their own human ideas. I think with our technologically observed knowledge about how evolution and Big Bang type theories work, we're (Look at why Jesus says he uses parables, and imagine all the other scientific concepts his parables and the more metaphorical, abstract verses of the Bible could be revealing at the same time. He is called the Word after all, so that's where a huge part of the magic is for so many people, I think.)
@ShimobeSama
@ShimobeSama Жыл бұрын
But anyway, that's all the darker and more extreme music, since the further you get to the edge the more that religious themes come up in a variety of directions, but normal poppy emo bands and whatnot tend to be much more normie in subject matter as I'm sure you know (I think of TBS singing about GFs cheating on them and whatnot). But some of them are more explicitly Christian. "Jesus Christ" by Brand New doesn't sound inauthentic or mocking of the religion. The pop-punk band Newfound Glory and others like them are explicitly Christian, but I don't know if any of this stuff feels wholesome or bright enough for your tastes. I find that Japan, though not Christian, is much more conservative than Anglo countries, and puts out much more wholesome pop culture on average that's safe for kids and whatnot (like their streets compared to ours), or stuff for adults that's still much brighter, cuter, happier than what the US has put out since the 80s ended. Poor 80s. Come back. When I came back to the US from Japan and missed how polite, considerate, and altruistic everyone was over there in general as a pretty homogeneous culture (in a good way), the closest people I could think of who behave similarly and put out similarly wholesome vibes were of course conservative Christians in small towns. And 80s night enthusiasts. STRANGER THINGS. So culturally y'all's my automatic favorite, although I have a very offensive and kind of dark sense of humor, which I apologize for desu.
