Dear Father thank you for helping me to understand suffering even our Blessed Mother and Jesus suffered. So many people in the world either loose their faith or never had it to begin with because they don't understand why their is suffering. Somethings are a mystery but God loves us, God is merciful and forgiving when I suffer I look at the crucifix and pray the 7 Sorrows Rosary of our Blessed Mother, it reminds me that I am not above Jesus and Our Blessed Mother who suffered for love of me. They suffered so shall I, however they rose from the dead and now live in Heaven and so will I. Thank you Father for your wisdom and insight into suffering.

46:54 - I will attest to it personally, mental prayer (like the Rosary) does help a LOT with happiness and dispelling anxiety, fear, sadness, despair and more. It really does but it takes commitment and an honest heart - it isn't like a pill you take and instantly all problems go away (it can be like that but if you only pray when you are in need or get something you want like a kid in the store with mom, then don't expect it the same way).

At 51:00 he says that priests are grieved to see empty pews five minutes after holy Mass. In my parish, we have benediction after Saturday holy Mass. The priest tells the people to leave if they aren't going to stay for the whole of Benediction. While I understand his intention is to stop people wandering around during Benediction, this order clears the pews instantly. Very few make any thanksgiving, and this action only makes them certain that none is necessary. We used to have holy Mass, exposition, confession then Benediction. Now we have holy Mass, Benediction, exposition then confession. Exposition still ends at the same time. This way it takes less of his time and exposition doesn't go half as long. It breaks my heart. Every time I go to church it hurts me. Yesterday the sacristan was wandering around, chatting to everyone while the Blessed Sacrament was exposed.

Natalia, --------- Do not depend on yourself only. Just get rid of all mortal sins, follow the Commandments, the Teachings of the Church, and keep praying and the rest follows. From my own experience I have found that prayer perfects us as long as we are in a state of grace. St Teresa of Avila says that prayer is what will start the spiritual journey (allows you in the castle in her book) and of course it is what keeps it on that journey.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Do not expect that you will reach the holiness of a saint in a couple of years. This is a journey that lasts a lifetime and as long as you die on that journey towards God, you will be saved. In other words we might not reach the high levels of the saints in this life but we will be saved as long as we live struggling (we are called the Church militant)

vigil dino thank you so much for taking the time to write your wise advice 😊and yes ive confessed mortal sins just fear backsliding and i am trying to overcome defects and habitual sins and venial and its funny you say depending on yourself cuz i realized I am relying on my own strength cuz inwardly i found that this was why these sins keep repeating itself this sometimes keeps me up at night condemning myself i know i shouldnt condemn myself but yes it is a journey and i appreciate your advice what i hear from you is a wise way to see things which is patience and rely on the strength of Gods sacred heart not to depend on myself and that holiness doesnt happen over night however i hate offending God but in moments of when i give into impatience or give into choosing to be gluttonous or being prideful or being judgemental and grumpy in the morning rather then joyful its these i struggle i pray and pray but these are just a few of my repeated confessions and i get mad at myself that i just cant be better i need a ressurrection and im gunna take your advice you confirmed a lot of things i considered in my own thoughts on how to resolve this after confession today lol God bless you i hope you keep me in your prayers and thank you for your great advice im embarassed just sharing the few of these sins lol but if i dont at least admit some of what i want to be better in i know i wont get help to get out of what im stuck in

vigil dino also you mentioned die along the way on the journey you mean dying to self? Right? Like meaning id rather die then sin or id rather do whatever i have to in order to not sin even if it is a struglle i have to face to prevent sinning right? Your very wise your counsel is very deep and i need this thank you
@vigildino6518
@vigildino6518 6 жыл бұрын
Natalia, ----------- I meant that even if a person dies in this state of struggling (like you and me) but keep themselves in a state of grace, they will be saved. St Teresa of Avila says that one enters the spiritual way by prayer. They enter the first state (she calls them rooms or mansions). They can slip back to mortal sin in that first mansion. They have to confess right away and get back into the state of grace. Avoiding the occasions of sin at this stage is essential since the person is not deeper into holiness as in the second and third state (mansions). The second mansion is safer in that the person is more rooted and will not fall back out of grace as easy as the when they were in the first. The third mansion is when the soul is not committing deliberate venial sins. The last 4 mansions are dependent on the work of God on the soul and that is why they are called the mystical stages. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++So this teaches us that there are stages that we have to go through. One cannot expect to be perfect all at once and so one has to be patient with oneself at the beginning (with everything except mortal sin). If you like the life of prayer and meditation, you might enjoy reading the works of St Teresa of Avila. They are free to read on the Internet. I found the ones that are with a study guide to be very helpful because they explain things. Here are two names just in case you are interested in reading about the spiritual journey and its stages: ------------------ The Interior Castle: Study Edition and The Way of Perfection: Study Edition

You need correct teaching and guidance so you can grow and mature in the faith. I came across a website recently that teaches spiritual warfare and a step by step guide to mortification of the passions. Check it out and just go through each step so you can gain a full understanding of why it is you struggle and learn techniques to help you subdue the flesh to your will. It's all based on the teachings of The Ladder of Divine Ascent and Unseen Warfare, so it's traditional Catholic. www.unseenwarfare.net
