Mark, the Cult Tourism idea is a great one, and doesn't have to be done by the city. It could be a profitable private business idea -- especially if Mike and Leah are part of it. I'd pay a lot of money to meet them and take a tour of downtown with them, but even if it's just seen as something they are part of, that would be attractive. Aaron would be an incredibly appealing person to do tours. A business that allows people to go through fake Scientology processing.... I think it would be something people would want to do. Create vacations that are a lot of beach with some Scientology tourism... someone could easily make a living at that, and get that ball rolling.

Scientology tourism sounds interesting but wouldn't the Scientologists target the tourists, take their names and harass them. Seems like a way to show that Scientologists do harass people that don't believe in their way of thinking.

@@AK.kje11 Hi Hugh, Mark would know better than me, but I think in general Scientology would aim their guns (so to speak) at those organizing the events, not so much the participants. But certainly those organizing the tours would need to deal with that aspect. Good point.

As long as a property owner maintains their property in accordance to Codes you can't force them to develop the property. You folks in the local government just need to keep your cool a little while longer and the Church will be gone. Scientology was booming when I got into it back in 1989. When I left the Church in 2001 it was starting to crumble. The decay and rot has accelerated in the last decade and the end is in sight. I suggest you start planning for a downtown with zero Scientology influence. It might take another decade to happen but lets be honest, there are many other projects and lots of other areas of the City that need attention as well. It's not all about Scientology, there are a lot of good people and businesses here too.
