Overcoming the Obstacles of Infidelity (Part 2) - Dr. Bob & Dr. Audrey Meisner

Focus on the Family

Күн бұрын

Bob and Audrey Meisner have a dramatic testimony of having a "perfect" marriage and family of 17 years that was almost destroyed by infidelity. At the time, the Meisners had 3 wonderful kids, were in full-time ministry and leading a church, when Audrey became infatuated and had an affair with a family friend.
Although no one knew what happened, Audrey felt convicted by God to confess to Bob, and thus they began a long recovery process, dealing with their pain, shame, anger, and uncertainty about their marriage’s survival. Add to this crisis of the unexpected and unwanted news of Audrey’s pregnancy by the other man. The Meisners share honestly and with emotion about Audrey’s repentance, their slow and painful reconciliation, and Bob’s sacrificial love to claim this new baby as his own son.

You are such a godly man Bob! Sister Audrey, none of us can pick up the stone and throw it at you. And what the book author and the pastor said to Bob was powerful. All of this magnifies the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ!

This was an incredible story! I love you Bob and I love you Aubrey! My wife cheated on me 11 yrs ago. I have never gotten over it we are still together. We have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. I am very affected by this act of cheating. I've been to counseling. I've been on and off medicine to cope with this act of infidelity and other problems in my life. I met a friend at my job who has helped me cope and who sent me videos like this one about other couples who have had infidelity in their marriage mainly done by the wife like me. This has enlightened me into seeing another person going through what I am going through and it has greatly helped me. I thank you Aubrey and her husband who have given their testimony. Thank you so much!

This is just you feeling telaxed to know that someone got hurt like you. In Christian, there are sins that can never be forgiven. Infidelity is the main sin and she has a baby with the affair partner. This is just worse to the core. Don't encourage and forgive infidelity. I pray for your wounded heart, but it can never heal, because you are a MAN and biology wins.

I am in tears as I listen to Dr Bob share his side of the story. This is what it means to be Christ like. To walk in the steps of our Father. A Father who resembles love regardless. Hoping that Dr Bob’s side of the story could be shared more often. He is challenging us Christians and the world at large that walking in the full understanding of the redemption found in Christ is possible and that’s how we should view God’s people.

Could we do an interview with Bob Without Audrey? She is very distracting with her constant hijacking of the conversation. I’m sorry but committing the selfish act of infidelity and getting forgiveness and moving on is not miraculous. What is miraculous is Bob’s ability to deal with it in a manner that goes against every worldly instinct. THAT is the true story here. BOB is the hero here NIT her.

He is. I bet it still eats at him everyday and he’s stuffing it down. It will take him years to recover from this. It will break him. One day he may decide he can’t take it anymore and that he made a mistake staying. Likely when his kids are all grown and have lives of their own and the two of them are left alone in the empty nest. The drive up stay together for the family won’t be there anymore because the kids are gone. And when those kids get older and begin to understand what really happened they may find disgust for their mother.

Most spouses aren’t remorseful and the innocent spouses aren’t told about the affair. People usually find out about the spouses affair in an accidental way. The cheater is not sorry, wants his paramour, finally feels free to be free with his affair partner, he’s choosing the other woman over his wife. These principles discussed here can’t apply in those situations. Most cheaters are mean and completely drop their spouses and children and run to their paramour.

So where the host got it wrong, is when he said she broke the covenant. Only death ends the covenant of marriage. She violated it but did not break it. Adultery, despite popular belief is not grounds for divorce. Don't believe that lie. Jesus says whosoever meaning anyone who divorces commits Adultery. Not one person will see heaven without turning away from any sin you aren't willing to put an end to. I hope everyone can repent.

Call me cynical...I know everyone in the comments seems to love this story,, but I believe she thrives on this positive attention just as she did over the attention of the other dude. Bob needs to put his foot down, stop sharing this story, move forward, and lead a quiet life. He clearly keeps reopening a wound every time they do another speaking engagement. She made him look weak, she destroyed his reputation. He probably feels he's owed a free pass. Now that he's raising another man's child, he probably feels he is being stolen from financially every day. She had all the fun, and he got all the risk and responsibility. I've never been impressed with their story from day one..

And what testimony would they have today if they divorced? Bob was counselled brilliantly and made him a noble and Godly man.

Who cares about the testimony, the man would be happy with some one who is faithful. Some of you brothers and sisters irritate me with your closed mindedness.

@@adriekinsWhat testimony would it have made? That there are consequences to a woman’s sin. Wow! Look around you. Look around the freaking church. We ABSOLVE ALL WOMEN of sin and chalk it up to a man “not stepping up and leading.” The church is in a lesser place because of this.

So, why did Bob and Audrey have to drive the biological father out? They could have had him in that boy's life.
