I sleep everyday planning about things to write something on the next day and I wake up saying "I'll do it tomorrow and will hear some music or watch a movie for now". Damn ME!

I am such a perfectionist that I can't finish anything. I always worry the plot isn't good enough.

Currently suffering from writer's block and really enjoyed this video. I think I might be overthinking. I'm trying to write a novel and I worry continuously about what others will think, about how stupid it is to even try and about what will happen if it's terrible... I think I need to just enjoy writing for the sake of writing! Thanks for the great video!

I worked as a staff writer at a porno magazine before they started taking unsolicited material. I've found that knowing people I'd never have to see would read my work made it easier to write and know what exactly the readers wanted took off a ton of pressure. I like not having to deal with people who read my work personally

the last one, is the most important suggestion! never tell nor think the words "writer's block".

Very helpful. Very nice viddy. Just to sum it up...Finding and removing the cause of the inability is the ultimate goal. You suggest changing one's writing habits, writing about one's inability and taking the words "writer's block" out of one's vocabulary as three tools to get the flow of writing going. Real soul searching, and/or professional help maybe neccessary, true, but these are very helpful tips. Thank you.

These are great tips. I've had trouble writing for a little while, but I have sense then been writing blog post and poetry. The feedback I'm getting on my post and poetry is just phenomenal. I believe that that feedback is what's changing my mindset. I have a novel I need to get written. people are counting on me to write it.

I seem to have all three causes of Writers block; I expect too much from myself/Fear of failure, I grew up with both extremes (Being praised too much at an early childhood and then later on not enough), And I feel reluctant to step into a leadership position (As I am more one to follow). I've been trying to write my novel for at least two years now, I always end up erasing what I write because it's never good enough for me and I cannot seem to get over that mentality...

Don't give up, it's not like college is the be all and end all in these things, I got kicked out of school at 14 and never went to college yet I'm ghostwriting now and screw the academics, graphic novels are getting more popular every day, just that some people who aren't your target audience won't see your vision of things in the same way, write because you enjoy it, knowing someone else enjoyed it is just an added bonus

You can get drawer's block too. Very similar. Doodling helps. perhaps you should doodle words! :) they don't even have to make sense. no expectations very fulfilling. you could always read a book! :)

Your reason for when you had your writers block is similar to mine. I feel like I am under pressure to write an even better book than the one I wrote first and as a result I suffer from the anxiety of it. It's a bit like "they loved my last work, but what if this is not as well received?". I don't want to feel as if my best work is behind me, and it's holding me back. I feel like I am trying to one-up myself and I'm over-thinking it too. I think I should just try to do what I did before, write and write without even thinking about spelling mistakes and edits or what's flying off my key-punching fingers, and just get it all down and not even think about it at first. But I seem to be over-analyzing everything I write which makes it harder. I need to be free with my writing again.

What is it, when you worry about plot holes, and simply not finding enough research for a specific time period for a project set partially in a historical time period? I have this odd refusal not to proceed without knowing the exact known historical events.

Alright I've been watching these for a while now but I have a question I need to ask. Say I have multiple books that I want published. Would it be better to write them all and then try for approval one by one within a set date between each other or write them separately and publish them as I finish? If anyone can help me it would be very helpful.

I tend to listen to a lot of music as I write too, I've been especially listening to lots of it on here lately, I've found some wonderful channels here too, it can help the flow and mood but still...*sigh*, ah well, I'll get there again I hope :)

Thank You Justine, this was very well presented. Sometimes I do have difficulty composing on the computer as I find that my mind doesn't think as clearly. I have been forcing myself to write directly onto the computer as it is ultimately much faster, though I don't know if there is any improvement in my writing or even if it is as good.

'a reluctance to step into a position of authority...' *So true* and easier said than done when so many writers I am guessing do not experience authority over other aspects of their lives, or they 1. Would not find writing gratifying, but would do that other activity that gives them that sense of authority and 2.Would have little to say in their writing if they excell in another area in life.... (Contenntment isn'[t very inspiring

It is called Procrastination, not just on writing, but also doing all sorts of things(planing to do) and never achieving it(finalizing it). Especially when you have financial and money problems(administrating estates, IRS, bad investments,etc.). Writing is the last thing on your mind.
