WoW. I am surprised(I know you know and do this. But). Jordan your the greatest. About the hit dragged into the net. What I see most that gives players trouble. The number one reason. Is not stopping their backward motion. You know, you just didn't say it. At all cost, stop the back motion, as your about to make that hit, be stopped or even a little forward motion. You as a very good tennis player(still) even knowbthe "kip". Where you move back aggressively, and stop your rear motion with a "kip" or "jump" in the air as you strike the ball. As a younger player a favorite. I was also. Suprised you didn't talk about the type of hit. A hard overhead straight down, giving a higher bounce(more play time) and the nice angle shots you did. Hey, lots go into one(so called) easy shot. Your the best, would nice if you maybe a quick shout out to general area. Not your favorite court. But some time you look to be in the high sirreas with tree. Other times, clouds? You guy's are great.

Put a top spin on the over head smash is very effective, which surprise opponent when it lands and swing away from them . I always do that depending where i encounter the over head smash. Thats very important.. this shot is more effective than angle return because of going out of bound or getting into the net...

Thanks Jordan for making this video. Sometimes I have trouble with executing a strong overhead, I think it's because I'm not tall and I don't remember to back up or turn my body the way you did, the ball goes a little behind me causing me not being able to put the ball away. Hopefully I'll be able to do the right technique Thanks!

Hey, Jordan! I’m just getting into pickleball and am loving your channel! Thanks for all the work you’ve put in here. Question: I’m sure you get asked this all the time and you probably have it on an FAQ somewhere but...where do you live?! I want to play on those courts!! The street signs look like the signs in my hometown of Phoenix,AZ 🤓

Jordan, You are a great teacher! Thank you so much for all the STEP-BY-STEP tips. Will you please make more videos on strategies, mind set, & how to make quick decisions during a game. I'm only starting to improve after 2-1/2 years. Would like to slow down the game in my head so I avoid "reaction shots" as I call them. Thanks!

Hit as many shots as you can with intent and placement. Power shots that are meant to defeat reaction time should be hit in the general direction of the closest opponent making him reach for the ball. Hit with power downward when given the chance. Remember there will still be reaction shots, at theses times try to keep the ball in play with a shot that will reset you back to the soft game. At times it will be just get the ball back over the net.

Thank you for the informative video. You constantly spin the paddle in your hand after shots or almost any major movement. Does this serve a particular purpose or is it just habit?

I just viewed this video and have a question...if you are turning your lead shoulder towards the target, does that not telegraph where you are going to hit or does it even matter? Do you discourage angling your paddle to hit your target? Thank you in advance for the help, Reed
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Reed, the shoulder turn is more of a key component for a solid overhead, mainly to get your body and feet in the correct position to hit the overhead. Either way, your opponent will not have enough time to watch exactly where your shoulder is pointed and run towards that way to defend it. You can still be set in a good position with your shoulders closed, and hit the ball out wide to the even side, or the odd side.

what about if you are at baseline and angles are tougher?
@Thejoeb
@Thejoeb 3 жыл бұрын
then you probably will not be able to hit a winner on that shot, just make sure to hit it down and make the other team return as tough a shot as you can get on it to create a mistake you can put away next shot.
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, your opportunities for angles begin to diminish the further back you are in the court. If you are in that situation, just hit the overhead as deep as you can and try to get a weaker reply on the next shot!
@gabrielfrench8382
@gabrielfrench8382 3 жыл бұрын
If you're at the baseline, don't hit an overhead. Let it bounce, there's a BIG chance it's going out and if it just hits the line, it'll bounce and you'll have an easy drop shot to help you get back up.

Jordan, these small targets seems too small for those who are not top players. What about hitting up the middle to maybe set up you or the partner for the next shot.
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 2 жыл бұрын
You can do that at times also but you really want to be able to hit both targets (middle and wide) as needed so that your opponents are in big trouble because you can hurt them in multiple ways.
@dalevoigt8612

Should we be wasting mishit set up balls during practice. We know that during a game you will not get the ball where you want it most of the time. Mabey hit the ball with whatever shot seems best and then tell your partner, a bit farther for this drill.
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 3 жыл бұрын
This drill is just for practice. This will really help you understand angles, and how to use them. You’ll get more opportunities to hit this shot than you think!
@dalevoigt8612
@dalevoigt8612 3 жыл бұрын
@@primetimepickleball I understand that and appreciate your content. My point is that often in pickleball we get a shot that we are not quite prepared for, and catching the ball instead of hitting it is a wasted opportunity. Just saying, try to get the next one a bit deeper should be enough to solicit a better ball on the next tose. I have seen volleyball players who are not good at hitting unexpected off sets because in practice they do not hit them; instead they catch and toss back those less then optimum sets back to the setter.
