I installed these FLEXIMOUNT storage racks, they are diy and they provide a ton of storage!
I am so excited to show you how I installed these 3x8ft racks on my ceiling solo! Fleximount sent out a ceiling rack for me to try and review, and I have to say I am really liking them. In this video I will show you some of the HACKS I came up with in order to get then installed with out an assistant and what tools I used etc.
As always please let me know if you have questions.
Materials used
Fleximount Rack 3x8 like this - dlnkr.com/r?r=...
These racks are adjustable in height so you can choose whats best for your space.
Scrap piece of wood 3 ft long (4ft if you have the 4x8 version).
Tools
Not all of these are needed but I had them on hand already so they are what I used. If you have similar tools that will work great!
Ladder Little Giant - dlnkr.com/r?r=...
AWP tool belt - dlnkr.com/r?r=...
Drills - dlnkr.com/r?r=...
Measuring Tape-dlnkr.com/r?r=...
4ft level -dlnkr.com/r?r=...
WorkPro Pink Tool bag (has so many hex bits and great tools) - dlnkr.com/r?r=...
Pony clamps -dlnkr.com/r?r=...
SAFTEY
These glasses are needed for sure because as you drill dust falls and can get in your eye.
Madgid glasses - dlnkr.com/r?r=...
RZ mask - dlnkr.com/r?r=...
ISOtunes ear protection - dlnkr.com/r?r=...

Hey great video, was really helpful watching someone else go through it. You can hang it without bungees or clamps though. I figured out if you do half at a time like you said, if you hook the ends into the outside hangers, those hangers have loops so they are secure. Then you walk your hands along to the other end of that half, walk up the ladder and screw onto the middle hangers. Then go back and screw the outer hangers. No extra tools needed 😊

I am a new subscriber and so happy I found you. You are so awesome. I had my husband watching you also as he works part time in son's cabinet shop building commercial cabinetry. The young ladies in high school today all should be required to take shop class instead of typing like my days in school back many years ago. Today so many women are single and cannot afford to have professionals to come in for simple projects. I am so impressed with your videos husband was also. God Bless

1. Once you get some weight on it, it won’t be wiggly. No wall connection necessary. 2. Little Giant ladders are the bomb 3. DeWalt tools are the bomb 4. If you had done the full eight foot length, could you have had one end on the ground taking the weight and put the bolts in the other end enough to hold? 5. Thanks! I am about to install this bad boy and this was very helpful!

Very nicely done. Great energy too! It’s nice to see women doing jobs like this. It reinforces the thinking that you can do whatever you put your mind to … man or woman. Tip for holding the racks: try using bungee cords. You can adjust them to hold the racks as needed. Just a thought. Great video. Thanks.

Great build; as far as your comment about mounting it closer to the wall so you can secure it and make it feel less flimsy, might I suggest you just cut some wood spacers to close the gap and use some drywall anchors to secure to the vertical brackets to the wall (unlikely they are aligned with studs behind them) Good job! Working on your own makes you think outside the box and you did just that.

Great video! Helped me to install mine last weekend. In my opinion, the hardest things to do were locating the joists (I have a finished/textured ceiling) and mounting the racks without killing yourself. Like you, I installed each 4 x 4 separately. I ended up using bungee cords. I tied one end of the bungee cord to each vertical bracket and secured the other end to the rack. This made it easier to move the ladder around securing the screws in all the corners. Putting the second rack in was a little easier than the first.

Garage ceiling joists are 16 inches apart or on center. So the 48 inches is 3 joists.
@SchubertTech
@SchubertTech 2 жыл бұрын
Garage joists will be either 16" or 24" in center. If there's drywall, you'll just have to go up and see. Or, use stud finder and measure the difference. Or use a magnet which will stick to the drywall screw. Mark the screw location, and then find the next stud. Meaure... there's more than one way. I just looked at the eves coming out from the house outside. It was obvious the joists were coming out at 24" intervals to attach to the fascia board. I still went up in the attic over the garage to verify.
