Watching back runs after the retrospective discussion is so interesting, seeing Baalor opt away from removes on silent, and lean toward picks he described in the retro, so cool

Timestamps for when Baalor picks up the cards and relic in the thumbnail (Footwork x4 and Calipers): Footwork #1: (13:06) (Floor 14 Shop) Footwork #2: (20:24) (Floor 18 Combat) Calipers: (27:50) (Floor 24 Elite) Footwork #3: (36:03) (Floor 30 Shop) Footwork #4: (45:02) (Floor 36 Shop) Calipers -would be- -might be- WERE good here! The mummified hand sequence at 1:17:05 is absolutely nuts. You hit every card you needed in that situation! Any math nerds want to hit me with the % chance that it occurred in that order?
@The_real_John387915 күн бұрын
The Math: 2/6 to hit accuracy or footwork * 1/5 to hit the other power * 1/2 to hit the defense = 1/30 Not that hard really
@ducksaucefreeforall15 күн бұрын
In that order? 1 in 20. But the order doesn't really matter in this case so 1 in 10. Unless you are counting hitting the defend at the end, which does save health, so 1 in 15.

@@The_real_John3879 we still need a math nerd to turn this fraction into a %
@yqco615 күн бұрын
@@dylanjackson7325To convert a fraction into a decimal you just divide the top number (numerator) by the bottom number (denominator). To convert a decimal into a percentage you just multiply by 100, or move the decimal point to the right 2 times. So in this case 1/30 as a fraction is about 0.03 as a decimal and about 3% as a percentage. It was about a 3% chance of that happening.

I had the bandage tingsha thing on my first a20 heart kill for silent! A really small fast cycling Grand Finale deck (runic pyramid boss swap). Tough bandages put in work all game, then got tingsha off the spire elite and all of a sudden cycling calc gambles was just a win con on its own. Insane value interaction

Recently had a nightmare + fumes run that could develop around 40-55 block per turn on early floors of act 3 and had 2 blurs to allow it to hold on to any and all excess. It was glorious to use 0 attacks in a fight and still have a consistently scaling damage source and 5 energy per turn (I think from hammer + art of war, forgot) Heart was kinda hard to survive, but by then I also found tingsha, reflex and prepared+, so it rotated the deck too fast for comfort while developing free block.
@laeamminlakana-matt569214 күн бұрын
While watching this I realized I had tingsha and bandages effects flipped. Otherwise accurate.

Your videos are the reason I stopped immediately going for card removal and actually LOOKING at shops. That was one HUGE part of the game I was missing out on, despite the fact I managed to make it to A20 on at least one class. ...now if only I could get my RPG hoarding habits out of here and start actually considering potions...

18:55 - Riddle with holes is just always a poor option. It needs some sort of extra effect to actually make it compete in any way vs blade dance, fléchettes or the draw/discard attacks, as even with strength the 2 cost is just too much. If it had a conditional one less cost (such as cost one less vs weakened opponents), it might have a place.

Baalor said this deck "needed" the first Footwork. Is there a reason? I'm always happy to see it but I'd like to know the difference between "all-purpose utility" and "necessary in this specific situation".

On the Switch version of StS, when selecting a ? node, you can tell whether or not your next ? node will be a fight. When you select a ? node, there are slightly varying, split-second amounts of time that pass before an event loads. When they are slightly longer, a player can tell that if they select another ? node directly after, it will be a fight. I'm not sure I can explain what exactly happens. However, It has been a consistent pattern I've noticed over 1000+ hrs of playing it on switch. Sort of a stuttering screen thing that occurs, I wish I had better words to explain it. Has anyone else ever noticed this? I've never seen the PC version behave in this way. The mobile (android) version does not do this. This leads me to believe it has something to do with the way the switch version works.

What is an appropriate time spent on the game to reach A20 on all characters?
@yo_ortega15 күн бұрын
Hecking hard question. Maybe we can collectively say when we got it to have an average. I reached it in 250 hours, definitely thanks to Baalor.
@rodrigovlopes14 күн бұрын
I'm at 160 hours, A20 on Ironclad and A15 on others. Stopped playing 3 years ago and came back recently. Watching Baalor made me climb very smoothly with the other characters (I was at A20 with Clad when I stopped). I play few games per week but I'm climbing consistently, think my last loss was at A10 Defect. I know that A17 and beyond is way harder, but I expect to get A20 around 200 to 220 hours. That said, is important to remark that I spent a lot of time in the past doing other stuff and fooling around. When I decided to climb with Ironclad I was probably with around 110 hours. If someone starts with the clear goal of climbing, I think it can be done much quicker. But if I hadn't started to watch Baalor it would probably take much longer.
