666maidenpower yeah... I don't really like Slayer. I'm thinking hooky, substantial riffs (Slayer's riffs just seem to be a few notes tremolo-picked ad nauseam with no real regard to melodic or rhythmic interest), a guitar tone with a serious crunch (their early albums had quite a muddy tone - the tone on Repentless sounds pretty cool though), and varied drumming that keeps you hooked (Dave Lombardo just sticks to the same beat and uses that in pretty much every song except Seasons In The Abyss, South Of Heaven and apparently almost everything off of Diabolus In Musica)

666maidenpower I did seek out Reign In Blood out of curiosity. I must say, it didn't enthuse me particularly. And one thing I've noticed, not just by me but by several people who have given the album negative reviews on The Encyclopaedia Metallum is that everyone remembers Raining Blood and Angel Of Death just fine, but everything else just gets kinda overlooked - which is a bit of a shame, because there are a few decent moments here and there in Jesus Saves or Altar Of Sacrifice and even Criminally Insane. But the album as a whole just doesn't really go anywhere musically outside of Slayer's somewhat repetitive comfort zone

+x1StapleGun Repetitive? Have you listened to God Hates Us All or Divine Intervention? Or have you listened to World Painted Blood? Not all Slayer songs are alike. And look how far they lasted, idk about you but 34 years is a fucking long time. Especially for thrash, OH not to mention, they are still the heaviest out of any of the Big 4 (especially right now). Overkill, Testament, Anthrax, Metallica, Kreator, Death Angel, Flotsam and Jetsam, and other badass thrash metal bands are fucking awesome, BUT Slayer was (in my opinion) the band that defined the genre. There lyrics, riffs, solos, imagery, drums, and overall energy hit me the most out of all thrash bands I have checked out.

FINALLY they been pushing out great Albums since like 1986 when they made Under the Influence New Overkill record is coming Febuary the 10 th of 2017.

Saw OVERKILL in this lineup in Budapest, Hungary. Great show, photos after....great memories. Remember the people with sealed copies of vinyls but with holes near the band members photos. In order to be signed and then for eBay. When Blitz saw this his laughter was incredible

Tons of older bands would like to think that their new stuff is as good as the old stuff that made them famous in the 1st place, but this is rarely the case.With Overkill, however, it's true. And Blitz's voice is definitely as good, and I would say better, than on the early stuff. With the exception of Met's 1st 3 albums with Cliff, Overkill is better than the supposed "Big 4" .
