The IP holders of The Walking Dead stripped Overkill of the licensing rights in which that prevented them from ever updating the game again. I assume that also includes making it F2P. Not like it matters as I'm sure there are ways to pirate the game and I doubt they care anyway.

Do you have to do anything specific to play with a friend? Shame about this game because it seems kinda fun so far, they should have just changed the name of the game to something else, removed all traces of walking dead stuff and continue working on it. From what I played so far it seemed like quite a bit of work went into it; the amount of money spent on this is probably why Payday 3 is kinda crappier than it could have been. This game so far for me seems like it has better graphics and is better optimized!
