Skipping Guarma entirely makes sense timewise, but feels like a HUGE mistake character wise.
@BrittonFilmmaker8 ай бұрын
I’m 2 months late to this! But the only things I think Guarma added was that 1. Dutch’s Tahiti plan never would have turned out well. And 2. Dutch killed an innocent and Arthur stood by and watched. Cornwall is a d bag, don’t get me wrong. But when Dutch pulls two revolvers on that unarmed d bag and sends him floating into the Louisiana Bay? Arthur came out of hiding with a much more timely but still emotive “wtf are we doing here”. Because of its new placement, it now is very close to the gator execution by Dutch on yet another unarmed d bag. None are an old woman, but combined we can see where the wind is blowing in Arthur’s perception. That’s why I moved cornwall’s death up, to capture that character development earlier like when Guarma asked for it. And for knowing Dutch’s Tahiti/island plan wouldn’t work out, the story teaches us that already

It’s actually incredible that the story is COMPLETELY enjoyable like a movie when presented like this. You can easily pick up on all of the important details that I was worried were only heard while roaming. Every crucial story beat while on foot or horseback you actually bothered to include. I almost want to make my dad watch this, so he can relate with my favorite game. I just wish you weren't wearing that annoying ass floating bandolier that always looks off lol.
@BrittonFilmmaker Жыл бұрын
God I hate that damn bandolier it’s so awful lol. I get it has gameplay effects but it just does not look good. At least the epilogue with John Marston I did doesn’t have one. This edit is partly a frankentien’s monster of other people’s playthroughs as I myself didn’t have an existing save of the whole game. I got first person angles of some bits, got some missing exposition horse rides, and reshot some scenes that were at the wrong time of day. So the main skeleton piece I used was of this guy with a bandolier, but I was like, “well at least he’s wearing the right jacket and beard length” Then, when I went back to collect footage that was missing, glitched, or bad, I had to put on that cursed bandolier for consistency 🤣 Maybe one I day when I recovered from my recent injury I can sit down and record the entire thing start to finish with even his clothing having a bit of an arc to it. Would certainly take months though. Thanks for watching it! The weirdest decision I made was moving Cornwall’s chapter 6 scene up to chapter 4, because I felt like it accomplished almost everything Guarma did without needing Guarma. (Once I cut out the references to chapter 5 and 6 in that Cornwall sceen)

I like that idea. Even this cut version is still 4 hours, which is kind of a lot to ask if you're showing it to someone who's never played or isn't into video games. Perhaps each in-game chapter could be like its own mini season with 3-6 episodes 30-40 minutes each? You'd certainly have to play around with the exact structure, but there is certainly enough content to do it that way, especially when you include all the free roaming dialogue, side missions, and even adding in some shots of free roam activities as filler; Could even dub in Arthur's journal narration during the latter parts. This is something I have wanted to do ever since R* released that RDR1 short film on the Xbox store as a free DLC/"Extra". I believe the hardest part though is getting the timing of the day/night cycle correct (some missions, like the bar fight, are clearly meant to be done at night; others become much more emotional during sunrise/sunset or when it's raining etc. Like "Who Is Not Without Sin?" the mission where you find the reverend playing cards while he's absolutely wasted, for example - that missions hits better when you start it at ~6AM on a clear day), and also figuring out a nice canonical way of ordering the side missions/adjacent missions so that the transitions aren't too jarring. I actually have a notebook somewhere in which I started writing down notes for RDR1 on each mission describing what order to play them in, what time of day and/or weather patterns were best for each one, how many days should be in-between each mission, some side activities to do as filler in the days between, etc. Never got around to actually filming and editing, but just following those notes up until the point you meet the Armadillo marshall felt like I was literally playing a movie - especially your introduction to Armadillo, when the game truly let's you off the proverbial hook of story establishment into true free-roam. Renting a room in the saloon and buying some supplies from HERBERT MOON and hunting for pelts for a couple days before returning to Bonnie - it felt so fluid I almost forgot that it was in fact an open world game. Honestly if someone from HBO or something hits up R* and puts together a multi-season live action show covering the entirety of RDR1 and 2, I would probably never go outside again lol, it's just crazy to me to think that nobody has ever tapped into what would without a doubt be a huge cash cow for whomever decides to make it. I do however have a sneaking suspicion that Rockstar's legal team is to blame for that, though.

Red Dead Redemption 2 guides you to follow the canon story but you choose if you do that or not, it makes you actually feel like the character, which is needed to make a perfect story game.

7:43 An extended cut and you STILL cut the action scene at the initial cabin...again! The VERY FIRST shootout in the game needs to hit to convey the story. There's a reason "Outlaws from the Rest" is played in that minor key. It's one of the only times Dutch, Arthur and Micah fight together, and begin the tragedy ahead. It's such a short fight, with a unique theme that doesn't play anywhere else in the game, it's like 30 more seconds man...
@BrittonFilmmaker Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I can’t shoot well enough outside of deadeye to record it. I had to edit down what’s there because I was missing shots so much. I’d love less deadeye in the cut as a whole, and no deadeye for the first few missions. The reason I can’t aim well is because I only have one working hand right now so it does the movement and action buttons as well. I think the way I could have done it is a first person shot of Micah or Dutch shooting, to extend the theme of the shootout. But instead I ended up just focusing on Sadie and Micah.

I feel like cutting out Hosea’s death was a major L but I understand it wouldn’t have worked with it leading to guarma. If you ever made an extended version with Guarma in it I would defo watch. And if you made RDR1 a movie. I’m sitting watching it with my family
@BrittonFilmmaker11 ай бұрын
Hosea's death is definitely in this, during the bank robbery. And the video I posted right after this one is RDR1 with RDR2's epilogue as a movie!

One of the best games ever made I still finding things in the game just a absolute masterpiece and work of art not one day feeling the same alot of work went in too making this game for sure better than the first one I think it ever gets old this video will find it more fans for sure good idea probs too you pal the sean mission I did not know that if you wait after killing the bounty hunters the rest of them will come and pick up all the dead body's just lose the heat and go back there is so much things in the game you can easy miss what time of day it is plays a big part watching it and not playing it you hear a lot more than you did before for some reason the graphics in this game are next level as well lets see how long they hold up too other games out there you have cut a lot of mission dialog out and on mission back story could be better it's a long game you could of added a bit of action hear and there not just the cut scene I get why you did it this way you can get Micah out two ways as well witch I did not know about I always pulled the bars of when you can get a key as well it's the little things that make a great game

Good edit for a summary of the story. But I would consider leaving Guarma in because it shows Dutch’s decline and I think it’s a interesting segment in the story.

Can we all appreciate the foreshadowing of fishing..agent Ross says “enjoy your fishing kid..while you can…” the. Jack kills him while he’s fishing. This game is absolutely gold storytelling. If they could make steaming series starting from red dead revolver all the way to red dead 2, with the no politicly correctness, no bullshit, and the realness of the violence and historical accuracy these games have shown.. that’s what the people want.

So on my 3rd playthrough of this game back in 2021, I was going through some personal issues, and had to cut myself from my friends because I needed time to figure my life out, and just cut contact even though people would be upset, I just needed time to think. I went though this game again, and reminded myself why selflessness will always be in my heart. I'm nothing like arthur, but Roger Clark really pulled at my fucking heart strings the ways he played Arthur. The whole Downe's family Arc broke me, even after playing it many times, there are some things you cant undo even though you mean well. I know to a lot of people it may just be "another game", but Red Dead 2 is more or less of a life lesson for me, than just a good story. And for someone like me, my father was never good, and i shelled myself from ever being like him. You are not your father, be a better man than he could ever be. Learn from your mistakes, and take your promises to the grave. Even if you don't live to see your good doings, just try to put some good back into the world

This is a great little video compilation, I just wish the full gun fights were included, would've added to the story a small bit and padded out the runtime.

I wish you had left the barn fight in during the beginning. It's an important introduction to Arthur's struggle with his conscience. Showing him spare the mans life helps get you ready for the choices he makes later on and seeing him wrestle with the decision shows his character.

Hi! I haven’t played the game (cuz I don’t have the console) and I want to watch this. From beginning to end, will it give me the complete story without the need for gameplay so I won’t miss anything important?
@BrittonFilmmaker Жыл бұрын
Yes! It’s everything essential to the main plot and themes of the story, beginning to end. And easy to follow throughout. The game has so much to it, that even seeing all of this, the game will still have an enormous amount to offer when you eventually do play it! My Dad just finished watching it and he understood and enjoyed perfectly 😁
