Overland Kyrgyzstan expedition

Overland Kyrgyzstan Road trip. I had very little time to see Kyrgyzstan. But the little time I was there was enough to now I need to go back. A very beautiful place and the absolute best bread in the world. I did a circumnavigation of lake Issyk Kul and then had to leave to head for Astana in Kazakhstan to prepare marriage papers. Scary !

Wow......7 minutes to get through border....yeah i can see why you felt that was easy! It took me 2 HOURS to get through border control at Moldova and that was from showing my passport and vehicle docs to actually getting in!! I was sent from one building or kiosk to another and it was only thanks to a friendly Moldovan guy who spoke English that i got the right Vignette. In case you haven't been there yet Matthew, it's a great little country to tour and your truck is ideal as most of the country roads are rough track. Really enjoying your videos as my touring days have unfortunately come to an end due to health issues so i am "travelling" via your vids! You go to the sort of places that always appealed to me and your photography is really superb. Congrats on marrying too and wish you both the best. You maybe found some countries are a bit suspicious of a man travelling alone and expect them to be with a woman? I found this at Albania when a stern looking border guard searched my camper van, then looking at my passport he pointed to me and barked, "YOU.....why no woman?" I replied, "i had three times married and three divorces.....VERY expensive, so now i have a 'woman' in that little box i can turn off/on when i want" (pointing to my GPS). His stern face suddenly broke out into a huge smile and said, "you must come back again to my country" and shook my hand as we parted!

Borders can be painful. Poland to Ukraine took me 17 hours.

Enjoying and learning a lot. I was wondering, How do you plan your trips. Where do you obtain your visa for all the different countries and how do you plan all this ahead? Lots of luck in your future travels!

Unfortunately its just a case of research and work. Many of these countries its just a case of visa on entry. Or an E visa which can got within a few days. Only Visas that required more work was Russia and Mongolia. Russia had to be got in the UK. Mongolia we got in Russia shortly before entering Mongolia.

Hi, What time of year was it when you went through Kyrgyzstan?

Adam Rowe that was February. Just over the border in Kazakhstan (Almaty) was cold, crossing over a small range into Kyrgyzstan it was much warmer. As you see there was still some snow, but much warmer, and we were often in T shirts.

Based on your comment I would say you have never been to such countries and have no idea what you are talking about.
