I really like your videos, they brought me further about my setup, what I m going to do on my newly bought Defender, but more than that I like your english presentation. Merci beaucoup & Grüzi Wohl

Thanks for your kind message! Also very happy how the rebuild is going, lots of time and effort and great to finally see the end to free our minds 😅. Hot water and filtration should be the last big job

Thanks! Will see how it goes without any protection, do think it should be fine. Happy if you find any inspiration for your build 👍🏼

Small garage work always seems to have more attention to little details than the large mass production factories. The only things I can think of is did you get a list of the parts used in case you need to replace a part. Definitely a good idea just no rock climbing!

I do think it depends on the craftsman as we had really bad experiences regarding the storage box on the side of the body and a transfer case rebuild. This time top notch! As we were there and help during all the install we know all of it 👍🏼

Best set up, keeping heavy weight as low as possible while protected by the chassis and clever design did it make much difference to fuel consumption on return journey when full?
@steinar.offroad Жыл бұрын
Defenders are shaped like bricks 😅 an extra few % of spring weight won’t make any measurable difference.

We like them and look forward using water system and see how all performs. Didn't see any difference in fuel

How are the water tanks working for you? How long did it take for them to install? Love your channel!

Thanks! Few days of install at the craftsman workshop. We just finished the complete water system and haven’t yet tested them off-road and off-grid but very soon :)

These would be ideal for our 88 110 but the drive to the Nederland's from here in South Dakota is prohibitive...

I think what silver surfer is saying is that the tanks should be purged with an inert gas to prevent oxidation that would cause cavities that could harbour bacteria. All hygienic stainless steel pipework is purged before welding for this reason.

The Tanks are outside the car - what about below zero temperatures? How did you manage the heating of the tanks?

We haven’t found yet a reliable solution for really cold temps. Will research more when all the water system is finished
@Fergus_Afrique Жыл бұрын
Truely nice workmanship, however the tanks in that location looks too exposed in my opinion. Perhaps in Europe the risk is less than African or Australian tracks?
@steinar.offroad Жыл бұрын
The tanks are above the chassis. It looks deceptive on camera. But iirc if you draw a straight line from the slider to the chassis you won’t hit the water tank. So the only way you are going to hit them is if you go rock hopping on some crazy tracks, and if then you are unlikely to crack one, let alone both… The weight distribution alone makes it worth the risk imo.
@offtrackfamily Жыл бұрын
Happy with tanks and we don't feel they are so much exposed as design isn't square. We don't do reckless offroading. Mountain rocky tracks around Europe can be tough. We certainly could get in a difficult track but will only see then what would happen.

I don't know the construction of the tank, but I would have thought double skin would be a good choice, looking at many Overland expo written in years gone by, you would be ok, but pushing the boundaries, as exploring, seems to Go in modern life, you could be deprived of a cuppa T, especially if a tank was holed,🤔

Will see when out there but should be all good. For comparison we have our long range fuel tank on since 2018 and only noticed a tiny bent few weeks ago.
