I’m 52, my generation was raised on the excess of the 80’s. I love that my children and their generation favor the experience over consuming. Our family tries to follow that model, but yes, sometimes it requires “stuff” to make an adventure happen.

Exactly. Stuff in service of experience is fine. Stuff in service of itself is kinda boring tbh

Excellent video as always! I definitely want to get a portable ac unit like the zero breeze. And a diesel heater for the colder months.

I love the ZeroBreeze man! I got it for a trip through Arkansas. Summer out there, trying to sleep in a tent is one of the worst things I can imagine without a little AC 😂. That humidity is a killer!

Yeah it can get miserable pretty quick. I love having it June - August especially.

Thanks for yet another well thought out video! Personally I love cool gear however I have also learned to simplify what I bring to camp to become streamlined in set up and take down. It’s always evolving! One thing I consider these days is having 68% burns my skin does not regulate body temperature as well as it used to therefore a heat source in the cold is a must! Safe travels Brother!

"Overlanders should stop buying things" and "buy experiences not things" says the guy with a $50,000+ trailer and gear piled high on his truck. We get out there with a Jeep, a ground tent and minimal camping equipment that easily fits inside the Jeep. It's all that is needed. We get more **experiences** by spending the money on gas than on mountains of expensive (and heavy) gear. Besides, is it really camping if you bring a house with you? IMO if you need to bring so much stuff with you to be as comfortable camping as you are at home, then you're **missing the point** of camping. To each his own, but I find the message (particularly in the title and thumbnail) of this video to be...ummm, "ironic" is the nicest way I can put it.
@BakerOverland8 ай бұрын
I hear you. You’re making a fair point and one that I’ve considered. I was preaching to myself a little on this one because I’ve definitely spent money on things I shouldn’t have. Thank you for the well considered and challenging comment. I respect the call out. 👊🏻
@daviddover45638 ай бұрын
@@BakerOverland Brother, with a family your size a Jeep would be worthless. It seems someone "missed the point" of the whole video. You buy what you need to fit your situation. My wife and I couldn't go camping unless we brought our "$50,000 house" because of our age and health. You keep doing what you do.
@BakerOverland8 ай бұрын
Thanks David. Yeah we all have a different situation. There’s always someone roughing it more and there’s always someone glamping more haha. Just have fun I say.
@VideosOffRoad8 ай бұрын
@@daviddover4563 THE MESSAGE here from the presenter was specifically about not buying a ton of gear. It's in both the title, and in the thumbnail. The point in my message was questioning the message vs. the example. "Do as I say, not as I do." I most definitely DID NOT "miss the point of the whole video." In fact, I called it out.
@rangerdoc10298 ай бұрын
For me it's more about getting to a point where you have to stop and say "this is enough". It's an absurdly expensive hobby if you're not careful. But ultimately all you need is a vehicle, a tent, and a sleeping bag. The Temptation is to look at all the stuff everyone else has and think that you need more
