Overlanding the Black Rock Desert, High Rock Canyon & Emigrant Trail

Overlanding the entire 175 mile longest intact section of the historic emigrant trail thru the Black Rock High Rock Conservation Area in Nevada on the route between Utah and California or Oregon depending on the cut off chosen. Off road rough trails explored over multiple days by camper van and with other vehicles, as well as exploring more of the Black Rock Desert and area.

Such a cool place to ride etc. Camped at Double Hot springs twice years ago. Soldier field, High rock, upper playa, rode with huge herds of horses and tried to chase Prong Horned deer. Lotsa luck even getting close to those speedsters.

How'd the Sprinter make it thru the tight squeeze and creek crossing in upper high rock canyon? Think your new Mitsubishi would fit thru?

Great question. The Sprinter is just under 80" wide, the same or less than a full-size pick up with normal tires and flares, and about the same as a Land Cruiser, and exactly the same as the Fuso I am now building out, except that the Fuso has a 134" wheelbase compared with the Sprinter's 170", which will matter more than most dimensions on tighter sections of trails and maneuvering around obstacles. Plus the Fuso is about two feet shorter in total length than the Sprinter 170. This trail was a thought for the Fuso when building it and it will fit just as well thru the same trail except for one area that is height limited, but the added tire size and traction capability should enable it to get around that overhanging rock feature.
