My wife and I rolled through the Swell last year and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent a night at a wonderful secluded camp in Pine Canyon which is just a short distance from the Buckhorn Wash Panel. We traveled north to south over Fix It Pass, down Cane Wash, passing the same mining area you explored, drove the San Rafael River Rd where we recovered a Subaru Outback with several young folk from Salt Lake City who almost ended upside down in a wash. We topped it off with a stop at The Wedge and would have stayed longer but were unfortunately on our last day before our turn for home. We look forward to returning some day. We get many ideas of places to go from your videos so keep em coming, we enjoy them all.

That sounds like an awesome trip. No doubt having even more time in the Swell would make it better. Each time I go back I love it more.

Wow, this was an amazing episode Jared! Nice combination of trail footage, amazing scenery, and interesting history. I am blown away by every one of your treks through the Swell. Couldn't agree more about go explore first THEN figure out your mods. And how snow transforms a place you know into a whole other world you've never seen before. The drone footage was a nice touch, I could be mistaken but I don't remember seeing drone shots in your videos before this trip? I really love how the aerial views give you a better perspective on what the surrounding scenery is like. Overall just a great edit, this really came together so nicely.

This is the first trip with drone footage. One of the guys in our trip had one and let me steal some of his footage. I’m hoping to add one to my kit sometime in the next year. It’s just a large investment as you know. The Swell is amazing and there are still a few areas I have not even hit so I’ll be back soon.

@@BackroadExploration Yeah, I'm really struggling with the idea of sending a thousand-dollar item up in the air with the potential to lose it in a lake or something. I'm gonna try to make something happen this year though. I just love it so much when I see it in other channels' videos. Just a few seconds here and there of aerial shots really took this series of yours to another level. I thought you cut that footage in perfectly too...just enough, not too much, great match with the music. Drone footage over that amazing Utah landscape is just....mmmmm. :-)

Love it down there. I remember exploring old mining caves with a buddy when we were 19 years old or so, late 90s. Very stupid. They are all sealed up now. Can't wait to hit that backcountry in my new 4Runner....

Those mines and caves are incredible. Several were designed as underground shelters the government built. They quickly realized after some testing that would not work at all and would cave in. You are going to live the 4Runner my brother has loved his.

I love your statement about rigs and adventure. You don't need a 90k rig to enjoy.

While a nice rig is fun and can add elements to the adventure. The thing I like most about this hobby is you can have a guy in a decked out GWagon followed by a friend in a 40 year old pickup truck on the trail both having a great time.

That rusty, shot up hulk of an old truck beside the trail is a KB series International Harvester. That series was built just after WWII from 1946 to 1949. And the old CJ Jeep in the group is my favorite; I love old trucks, can you tell?

Nice video. One correction for your commentary because you were at a dinosaur track site I'd say millions of years of history in the swell. Looks like it was a fun trip.

So mad I missed this. Love eprobe's CJ5. What clunked to kill it at around 10 min? If it was anything like my CJ7, I bet his toes are burning and the rest of him is heating. It seems those old Jeep heater cores just dump all the hot air on the gas pedal.

I’m not sure. I meant to ask him but we got distracted at the next stop. I’m still blown away by how cool that rig was and how well it performs. Hopefully you can join us on the next one

I see Venturefwd installed a Webasto gas heater that uses 1 gallon in 15 hrs on high heat great way to keep warm without running the eng.

I saw that! It’s an awesome setup. I’d love it. Hard to justify the cost for me as I don’t live in it full time. I think it is going to really make his life on the road better.
