My wife and I spent part of our Honeymoon in Uganda in 2009, lovely country, fantastic people. The rafting was outstanding at Jinja, although it’s all moved a bit since they built a dam up river, glad to see there is still rafting as at the time they were all worried the dam would kill it completely.

You are so right about the way you handled the problem . We have found that that way of treating them rather then showing fear works the best . They say a smile and friendly wave works the best . It’s hard not to smile back and be mean when some one’s being friendly . And what a beautiful area the raft ride looked amazing , and Harry’s slide was awesome looking fun . Thanks again for sharing your wonderful journey and memories with us all your over landing friends . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. 🌍🍻👍🏼😁

I am absolutely hooked on your Africa videos, such beautiful scenery and great descriptions of what we are seeing. Well done in defusing a very tense situation Harry, and Chloe summed up very diplomatically how dealing with officialdom can be on the continent. I've worked in several countries there, and you can feel very intimidated. Recording and editing videos must really really be very time consuming and add lots of extra time to the trips. Keep them coming.

I lived and worked in west Africa for several years. It was quite the experience for sure. The people in general were warm and welcoming. But the authorities… that’s were you’ve got to have your head on a swivel. The police in most of these countries is were the real trouble is. A survival tip I learned was to always carry ice cold Fanta or Coke in the vehicle. And a few emergency bottles of beer. If you hit a check point with police wanting to shake you down, a cold soda will usually make them go away. If not… free beer certainly will.

Problems you encounter and the way you deal with them - like the boys in this vid, border crossings, corruption etc are the most interesting elements of this type of travel video. Everyone says how great everywhere is but it’s the other side of things that travellers like us want information in. Well done both of you. Are you going into DRC?
@TheLandyExpedition6 ай бұрын
We are glad you enjoyed hearing about this situation. Don’t get us wrong, this situation could have turned bad but it’s also important not to assume people are all bad. The world is full of wonderful people and 99.9% of our interactions have been amazing. Of course, it’s good to share it all with people ☺️ We aren’t 100% sure if we will go to the DRC yet.

PR type explanations about insecurity don't help anybody. I hope you will contrast this experience with Rwanda (if it's in your trip plan). Uganda, Tanzania & Kenya are extremely unsafe countries to travel after dark. NGO's & military M.O. is 6am-6pm - why take the risk?
@Dok20236 ай бұрын
The countries you mentioned are extremely safe to travel round the clock unless you are not talking about the countries that I travel to eveeytime

We have never felt unsafe in any of the countries you have mentioned. This was a single incident and we’ve never experienced anything else like this. This is probably the 2nd time we have driven at night on our trip. We choose to avoid doing this when we can. Thanks for your comment ☺️
