I ordered the vario xxl for my 79 and by far the best thing I’ve done. I find the biggest difference is the factory seats all my weight is on my tailbone and the scheelman support my back in a way that holds the weight up. They are that well made it’s what Toyota should of put in the cruisers standard

Hey Matt & Holly, hope you are both doing well and the new Troopy build is going great? just wanted to give a quick update on my Scheel-mann seat in my 80 series LC, I have to say I have to agree with you guys, so very happy I seen you review and thoughts on these as I love mine, I am 6’4 and always struggled with the leg room in my 80, and don’t even get me started on the extra support and comfort. I see what you mean though, once you get them dialed in to how you like, it ruins all other seats - lol I spend half the year driving a 79 for work and the other half I am always so happy to jump in my project 80, even more so now! Thanks heaps, stay safe…

I looked into these after you were on Ronny Dahls modified episode but unfortunately they’re not compatible with my 200 series due to the fact they don’t have side airbags, a shame as they look amazing.

Hey mate, I'm 6'4" and keen to get the seat further back (i.e. to extend the rails or mount the whole seat further back from the steering wheel). Do these help with that? I somewhat foolishly thought it'd be an easy one to sort out, but I'm struggling to find other tall drivers who've tackled this.

I have a lower back injury and the seats in my 80 series were terrible so I looked around and through Job Active I was able to get a Stratos LTSS3000 suspension seat for me as I was doing a lot of kms of driving for work reasons (Disability Carer) at the time and I love my suspension seat as it takes the jolts out of the bumps in the road. I could never afford that seat or any other as they are all very very expensive.... even these seats you are talking about are not cheap at all. I would be very interested to see the comparison in my seat to yours, not by specs but by feel.

So much better than your original idea of getting seats out of an old Ford Falcon. They would not have had to try hard to be better than original equipment, particularly the old driver’s seat. The adjustability of the Scheelman seats would take a few tries to get right, but the fact that you could make the seats right for you is beyond price in a touring vehicle. Different choices for trucks, but same outcome. Next, maybe some floor insulation under the vinyl (ha ha).
