Sympathise for you with the fuel issues. We picked up crook fuel at a Caltex in Brisbane, it cost us 8 injectors and a turbo in our Troopy. The thing I learned with a Troopy is, if you get a fuel issue change to the other tank first and if everything’s ok, dump the other tanks fuel.

How do these servos get away with selling fuel that causes all that damage and cost?

@@cnfabo yes, it is a problem, I think they just walk away and say, “prove it”. We don’t know what was wrong with our fuel, nothing in filters, nothing visible. It cost our insurance company $12k for the repairs. Their assessor had no idea why either. I suspect it was home heating fuel instead of straight diesel. The diesel in this story definitely had water in it. I never fill up at stations that look a bit sus or where a tanker is filling tanks. Flooding can also cause water to get into underground tanks.

@@malcolmL995 crazy prices to fix these modern cars...in all honesty you'd think with the price tag of these 4x4 etc and the computers that they'd shit down with enough time to to damage or something? I'm not a modern car person so I don't have a clue but yeah..... I too once picked up water from a pump up north WA heading into gnaraloo in my splittie with a hot street donk and man it had my head scratching for the whole two weeks camping and the drive back home I stopped in at Jurien and dumped the tank and vroom......it was a stressful two weeks.....that was a $9000 engine and man I had the heads off in the desert etc trying to find serious mechanical issues etc and not one time myself or any other person thought of water in the tank😝

@@mattluszczak8095 yep. No one was exactly sure what was wrong with the fuel but the exhaust from it blocked up the vanes in the turbo.

The secret sauce at night to keep the main bugs away in northern area's warm seasons is a power line to a light at both directions away with brighter light than in camp . . also makes for an attractive sight when sipping the red , I just used out bush property 240v bright led lights mounted inside jars olives etc with a rubber grommet through lid for waterproof

Just crossed the Simpson in the 75 series. Couldn’t get over 60km/h coming out towards Mt Dare. Got lucky and found some replacements and the car came back to life. The sub tank must have gotten either bad fuel or water in it somehow.

Keen to see what’s causing the fuel filter light issues, my 200 series does this on occasion, I can drive with it on and doesn’t seem to affect it. It does have an alarm as well and when that goes off, you need to change it or drain it. Or get ear plugs

modern diesels are so sensitive to fuel contamination and so potentially expensive not to mention being stranded in the never never can I recommend getting a filter funnel which will make water and debris visible before they enter the car I have a petrol 4WD being a Mechanic of 40yrs i trust no fuel source anywhere luv your work keep it up 👍

Love the troopy. Fuel issue- common problem is crap in new fuel tanks from manufacture process - which might be caught up in that inline filter you mentioned that came with the brown Davis tank causing restriction in the fuel line. Maybe Get rid of that filter see what happens. Hope you sort it. 👍

Hope you get the fuel light sorted soon. I've got a head unit like that. Those volume buttons are a pain. Did yours come with a remote? I've stuck the remote somewhere so I can now adjust volume by feel. Next head unit I get must have a volume knob. Marty from Perth
