I love how Maruyama don't have problem leaving Ainz in the background meanwhile gives develop to all other characters. Sadly the anime cannot adapt the novels perfectly but is acceptable.

Honestly, considering the world building and the details of the light novels, even if we saw 1 minute animated versions of the events in light novels without any cohesion, i would still put this anime as my favorite. Its touching to a very similar place in my brain where the only tolkien managed to touch so far.

What defers Overlord from most isekais is that the main character’s power play is the least important part of the story. He’s just a guide to exploring the whole world and characters around him. This opening shows this well.
