For anyone who says, "but wait, didn't he invite them in," Ainz *never* made a single person go into Nazarick against their will. You don't get to be an Adventurer/Worker when you know you'll win ahead of time. If it was that easy, everyone would do it and there would be no risk in the job. The anime just leaves out information that details that the Workers _did not care_ what they had to do to get paid. A few Workers, *even before they left the Empire* were hoping that there would be monsters inside the abandoned ruin so they could show off their skills. They were planning to kill for fun. When they arrived at Nazarick, a few Workers took notice that the property was too well maintained for a supposedly empty tomb. At that point they *knew* someone was living inside, someone who cared about the appearance of the property. Last, Nazarick is located inside Re-Estize Kingdom territory. Which means that people from the Kingdom have primary legal right to explore new found areas, which makes Workers from the Empire essentially trespassing looters. The Workers even contemplated killing any Adventurers, _other humans_ who might come along and blame it on whatever monsters were inside the tomb. Bottom line, these weren't innocents who went in blind. They had more than reasonable suspicion that the place wasn't empty. The fact that there was so much unguarded gold in the outside mausoleums should have been suspicious enough, but they were too greedy to think clearly. The Adventurers Guild exists to prevent people from going off and doing jobs like this where they will likely do something either too dangerous, or illegal. Being a Worker means gambling with your own fate, and these ones lost.

@@Bird-Birdy-Love I can understand how anime only viewers get the wrong impression. Much of this information is left out of the anime because it's a lot to cram in. The anime doesn't have time to go into all that because it has a very limited amount of episodes it needs to get through. That said, one thing about the world of Overlord is that good/evil don't matter as much as strong and weak. That's why it's not good to get so hung up on the "you're bad, they're good" sort of thinking.

Spoilers*** He may not have invited them but he did request they get sent. If I call dominos and ask them to send a delivery guy to my house it’s not okay to kill them when they arrive. Granted, at least some of these guys came with villainous intent, but not all of them. And even considering that it doesn’t change the fact that Demiurge’s plan is unethical and Ainz is also complicit by approving and carrying out that plan. Granted he has always been the villain and this should surprise no one, but Ainz is definitely the villain (or at least, one of the villains) here.

I heard some people actually quit after next episode lmao... and it wasn't even that harsh, a lot of the more cruel stuff was not shown or even mentioned in the episode. On the money thing Brian was almost right. All that gold thrown at the Workers right at the entrance was Ainz last effort to spare some of them. "Get some gold and leave". But no, they want more and the moment they decided not to take what was offered and leave, they forfeited their lives. On the elf girls, notice that their ears are cut, to symbolize their enslavement and bad treatment.

I shouldn't have put that in quotations haha, he didn't actually say that, but those were, although unstated, his intentions; He asks them why they're going there and they all answer money. Then right at the entrance, without any trap or difficulty, all the teams find enough gold right away that would make them and their descendants rich forever. For instance, Arche's parents had an incurring debt of 200 gold. The group who opened one sarcophagus in the anime find tons of gold and jewels, and a SINGLE necklace was availed in the novel to be worth at least 150 gold. Ainz was opposed ot the plan of letting thieves into Nazarick, because he thought it would dirty the work of his friends, but is unable to think of something else so he let them come. Then he set all that treasure up to try to at least make some go away, and indirectly give them mercy, but all of them decide to step foot into Nazarick (even the group who was killed outside actually entered it - they said they searched throughout for hidden passages).

Clarification on some scenes: The first punishment was the Cockroach King eating both the workers, the leader was tough though so he healed him and then ate him again... The second was Neuronist using a tool used to remove kidney stones that it inserted through the urethra (she was gonna shove that thing in his peehole). The maids were supposed to be making fun of them but it came off more deadpan in the anime than it did in the light novel. The elvea were slaves to the guy Hamuske killed, you could tell because he had their ears trimmed and they were in rags, they go on to be adopted by the dark elf Mare.

*WORKERS NOT ADVENTURERS* *Here's what was said in the Novels* Worker. This word was used to describe people who left the career path of an Adventurer. The work given to adventurers was directly provided by the Adventurer's Guild, where the content and difficulty of the tasks were thoroughly investigated beforehand. Only the ones that were deemed suitable were assigned to adventurers and had corresponding ranks according to the difficulty of the task. In other words, work that were deemed inappropriate such as ones that might endanger the safety of the public, or the law-breaking kind of work like investigating the plant materials used in the creation of narcotics. Those kind of requests would be instantly rejected by the Adventurer's Guild. Also, work that might damage the ecological balance of an area was also rejected. For example, the Adventurer's Guild would never issue requests involving the removal of monsters that play certain roles in an ecosystem. This was due to fear that the removal of the monster might trigger the collapse of the ecological balance in an area, which might result in hordes of other monsters leaving their habitats and causing damage to human settlements. However, if said monster left its habitat by itself and entered human territory, it would be treated as a separate matter entirely. In other words, adventurers were friends of justice. However, the world did not operate on that principle alone. Regardless of how one described things, there were people who were willing to take on high-risk work simply for the reward. There also existed the kind of people that simply enjoyed slaying monsters. These people, when compared against the adventurers that stood in the light, preferred to stay in the darkness. The "dropouts" amongst the adventurers. That was what some people called them. However, not all workers were the kind of people that were previously mentioned. Hypothetically speaking, if a young village boy was heavily injured and an adventurer group that was capable of performing healing magic happened to pass by, were they allowed to cast the spells to save the boy? The answer was no. There was a rule that strictly forbade adventurers from using healing magic on the common people unless a certain fee was paid to the adventurers. This was because the common usage of healing magic was restricted by the temples, where patients were required to come to the temples and pay a certain fee in order to receive healing. If the adventurers ignored this system and freely went around healing people, the temples would become unable to feed themselves. For this reason, the temples had strongly pressured the Adventurer's Guild into enforcing this regulation. If adventurers were unable to obey the rules, then they could opt to become a worker. Although this made the temples seem like the bad guys, this was not without good reason. Due to the influence of magic on the daily lives of people, magic could be considered as another political tool for power. In order for the temples to provide benefits to the people without becoming controlled by politics, the only source of income they could receive would be from the people. In exchange, the temples provided healing, cleansing of the undead, as well as researching and developing new healing spells. If the adventurers ignored the regulations and used their healing spells freely, the temples would be forced to become more secular, and their initial ideologies would become corrupted. As such, there were always two sides to a story. Without light, there would be no shadow. The existence of workers could be described in the same way. For money, they were willing to ignore regulations and often make a mess of things, however, there were also cases where they had brought benefits to the people, such as the creation of cheaper medicine.

Remember guys the tomb is a dungeon with several levels each level stretching so large like an entire city. Basically 10 Tokyo's stashed on top of each other. So you can imagine how many creatures live in it we're talking about creatures that are so terrible and terrifying And creatures who are powerful on their own to destroy the entire world even creatures who are as powerfu as the floor Guardians and even stronger. What I'm saying is all sorts of mythological creatures exist in nazarick millions upon millions of them which makes it the last place you would ever want to go.

In the light novels nazarick was hidden under dirt by mare but ainz desided to leave some of it open for the adventurers to spot it and enter. In the anime season 1 episode 2 ainz clearly ordered mare to hide nazarick under dirt and we saw him start foing that in the same episode but in season 2 and 3 it seems that they forgot or desided that continuity and ainzes paranoid personality can go out the window.

Let's just say Neuronist is going to insert it to a certain body opening and it's not going the backdoor...... Heavy Smasher and his other unlucky companion got eaten both inside and out since the cockroaches that enters all their body openings are still alive and enjoying the meal within. Hilma got traumatized too much that she can't eat solid food anymore unless she wants another PTSD

Yeah~ i can see why people got mad over "Lord Ainz went to far~" but, guys... he had to set an example that he and Nazarick aren't gonna deal with humans fucking around with him. Yes, it was dirty of him to literally open his doors and set a trap, but he gave them plenty of opportunities to leave. They just chose the worst outcome. It's like your standard RPG: high risk, high reward but you'll most likely die but in this case, the difficulty is set to extreme. I know up to this point, Lord Ainz wasn't seen as the villain of the series, acting more (at best) like a anti-villain, but not only did he use this as possibly leverage for his own cause, but also to show his own people he had to show his true colors, even if he personally wasn't mentally ready since he is still human mind set wise.

Overlord truly is a dark show. "Game of Thrones" of anime. It was never explained in the anime, but the guy that was being tortured was "used to the fullest potential". Each of Ainz's lords were given "a piece" of him, so that none of him were wasted. (They ate him)

Cut content! The old man's group agreed to stay on the surface, but they also agreed to take the GuildFlags the other groups found, just for safekeeping. Its coz the flags were really heavy. They didnt get very far (coz the maids showed up) but it makes it very clear that they are still nasty thieves, even if they didnt enter the tomb itself. If anything, them taking the flags was *very* insulting.

BrianxStephanie , I sent you a comment on your previous Overlord REACTION if you have not seen it yet. Read it before you see ep 8, its important info. Don't get attached to the Workers, especially those four you saw. Don't get attached to them! Just DON'T! Also, Ainz DIDN'T even like this plan from the beginning, he said it himself! But if he didn't went along with it, who knows what would happen. He DID ask them why they are going to the tomb and if money was really worth that much risking their lives for. He DID leave a large amount of treasure for them to take, to live a better healthier life before they went into the main tomb, but they became too greedy. But, if you want to be angry at someone, be it on Demiurge or Fluder! It was Demiurge who made that plan, he's the REAL evil one. And IT was Fluder's idea to send them there. It was NOT Ainz plan! He DIDN'T like this plan! He hated it! I'm saying this because I DON'T want you to drop/quit this series after ep 8. I want you to continue til the last episode.

This was truly cruel on the part of ainz. And no, his question as momon and the gold left outside the main tomb dont make it better. These workers are doing this for their living. So of course they are going to say money, they are professionals. That doesnt make them evil in any way shape or form. They never, not once, had any sign that the tombs were inhabited by anything but mindless monsters. Had Momon said "What would you do if you went there only to find it inhabited by intelligent beings?" And they answered "Slaughter them like cattle if they arent too strong to fight." That would at least have been a point on the not worth sparing ledger. As for leaving them treasure in the outer buildings, WHY WOULD THAT MAKE THEM WANT TO LEAVE?! They are finding great rewards before they even reach the front door. Of course they will keep going, this is an easy profitable mission! They have hit the freaking lottery over here! And once again, there is no sign anything intelligent lives here. Its a tomb. Silent, dark, and as far as they know, filled with skellies and thats it. So why would they turn around then? The moment they learned the tomb was inhabited by intelligent life it was too late for them, they got killed/captured/endlessly tortured. All because ainz specifically hired them to raid his home, while making absolutely sure they had no idea what was waiting for them there. Only the elf slaver deserved his fate and he got off fricking LIGHT compared to most of the rest who were decent enough people. And here is ainz and the rest of nazarick getting angry because the people they hired to do something, are doing the thing they were hired to do.

the torturer stuck that stick in his pee hole. mr K is the one shaltier, albedo and aura where talking about when they had there day off. the 3 dark elfs join nazarick and live in the 6th floor and worship aura and mare i think they see them as royalty since aura and mare outfits are made of gold, dragon skin and other expensive materials made by there creator bukubukuchagama, also the chains on the lizardmen and ains at the end credits is an item that lowers there levels so they can gain more experience kind of like the exp egg in pokemon, since ains is max lv 100, he needs experience to make high level undead which burn exp, like he makes more overlords and has them in the great library, some summon monster spells cost experience too, the writer is using alot of the dungeons and dragons 3rd edition rules for item creation and spell casting, in the light novels ains use the workers to test the dungeon raid effect, since in the original game one can not build a dungeon or in this case a tomb with no escape or way to beat it. so he was testing if that world restriction for dungeons also worked in this world, the anime dont mention this.

The elved didnt hate that guy just because they were slavd but also because of how he treated them. Some of which can be seen in the last episode and in this one where he called them useless and they were all scared of him showing singhs of abuse. That guy is from the slaine theocracy which to begin with is humen centric to an extreme point. They treat elves and dwarves as slaves with one exception being zeashi. They treat half elves as being inferior and they dont even consider other magical brasts as simething worth respecting or acknowleging. These idelas probably developed due to how humens were treated by these other races which 600+ years ago. The slaine theocracy also belives that humens are the most superior race. Needless to say the swordsmen treated the elves cruelly cutting of their ears even and beating them as well as rapping them and selling them whenever he got bored he even contenplated selling the one of the elf when she was not usefull to him.

You did indeed miss the end credit scene. And this time it is actually a very important scene. You would already know what the adventurers in the colosseum will be up against had you seen it. Also Neuronist is actually male..... which doesn't really make that guys' fate any better. As for his fate, if I remember correctly it's never revealed. The three elves are slaves to the guy who got killed by Hamske. The LN adds that he actually enjoys to treat them badly as he hates elves. He even has the tips of their ears cut off, which, if you look close enough, is actually visible in the episode. So, no, they did indeed not like their master at all and were quite happy when they saw him die at the claws of Hamske.
