Overly Critical Gamers - Fungi - Instructional/Gameplay/Review

Also known as Morels, this is a 2 player card game about venturing into the woods and collecting sets of mushrooms, then cooking those mushrooms to obtain "flavor points". The player who has the tastiest experience wins. KingRob shows us how it's played...and gets a little hungry in the process.

Note: Our gameplay footage shows an alternate method for setting up the path of cards - a spiral pattern instead of a line. We found this the favorable way to play because it involves less handling of the cards, only becoming a little annoying when someone uses their sticks.

Played this game tonight two times in a row. Its quite enjoyable. Reminds me of Explorers (Lost Cities) but not too much. If I were to describe it in a word, it would be: charming. Good review and all the best.

Thank you for this video! however - your placement of boots/feet card is incorrect - it must be placed on the side of the first two Forest cards, not at the end of the row. Also - you should explain the logic behind circular placement of the forest cards in your gameplay phase. And - you should have separated the sticks and nMoonlight cards from the forest card circle, otherwise it's very confusing for first time players to understand whats going on.

Would you recommend Fungi or Morels? I heard they are the same other than the art. Is that true?

There are slight differences between them. We picked up Fungi for aesthetic reasons - preference in art and the cards refer to the mushrooms by their scientific names instead of Morels using common names. Fungi also shows you the frequency of a specific mushroom at the top of the card, which is handy. As of right now, the main benefit Morels has over Fungi is the expansion currently up on Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/1058482509/morels-foray-the-morels-expansion The designer has stated he's in talks with Pegasus about trying to get this expansion printed for Fungi as well, but there are certainly no guarantees. If you don't care about the expansion, then it mostly comes down to which art style you prefer and which version is easier for you to acquire in your area.
