This was a great video, and while I'm definitely interested in several of the games covered, I was also strangely intrigued to get a glimpse at some of Quinn's books at the start of the Fantasy Realms segment (I've had books on the mind recently). So I spent a little time squinting at the titles (and googling images of covers for confirmation) to add them to my to-read list. Since I've identified them all now, at risk of seeming weird I figured I might as well list them here for anyone else who's similarly interested to save them the time: The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty Mordew by Alex Pheby In a happy coincidence, two of these are among a set of books I ordered a couple of days ago for extra lockdown reading, so now I'm looking especially forward to those arriving.

Board Game Arena has been absolutely fantastic in this last year! The premium has been totally worth it, and if you have a consistent group, only one person needs to have it, so you could definitely split it a couple ways to make it even cheaper. They seem to come out with a new game every single darn day, and not like no name games either, some real big hitters like Viticulture, Lost Ruins of Arnak and Castles of Burgundy. It also does a lot of very finicky games well, we play 6 Nimmit super often and it becomes such a quick quick game since it does all the maths and organizing for you. Huge recommend!! btw I did listen to the podcast guys 🤗

I was legitimately relieved when you passed over shamans for slot #5. I wanted to love the game so much, then my brothers and I played 3 games in a row, and realized that each of the games was pretty much entirely determined by our hands, with far too little player agency, and it felt absolutely awful while you were losing. Bad hand? You get to watch the player with the good hand activate all the powers and get further ahead. Think you have a chance to come back? Wrong! their better hand has allowed them to entirely dictate the course of the game, and now you are stuck desperately trying to claw your way back with half the resources they had.
