Overnight Backpacking in Shenandoah National Park

The weather has cooled off and we decided to do an overnight backpacking trip! It was an awesome hike, peaceful and quiet. This trail does not have scenic overlooks, but it was beautiful camping and walking alongside Jeremy's Run Creek on the trail back to the parking lot.

Perfect time of year to hike. I love the Shenandoah valley area. Beautiful country. Lightening strike often causes things like that or internal rot.

Nice ! Some places had it bad with lack of water . They had water crossings that you had to take your own water to . That is just not good . Thank you Ron !

Pretty gorgeous trail. Strange how that tree just folded in half. Looks like you’re luckier than me with camp fires, as the smoke follows me no matter where I move to lol. Be safe bro.

Oh dang! That poor tree. I would have guessed lightening at first but it doesn't look burnt. I guess it just snapped. 🤔

Yeah, I looked for signs of lightning, but I am sure it was the wind. There were a few others places that showed some wind damage on the trail.

Thanks brother! That is a Garmin InReach Mini, basically a satellite communicator/tracking device, with an emergency SOS button. I can give you a link where you can follow me on a map when I am out and about.

She's my "fempanion" and yes, she did a good job with the fire! I used the Sony ZV-1, but...I am not 100% likely to use it again. Maybe I just need to play with it more. But, I do like the video from the iPhone a lot! I pretty much have decided that I'll use the iPhone for vide and carry the extra weight of my Nikon Z6 with a 24-200mm lens for photos (the cheap 24-200 lens..with the slow aperture...F/4-6.3) . Thanks for the comment!
