I don’t care how much competition is out there. You are always the top one for me and my sons. I have messaged you a few times in the past and you responded and that means a lot. You even watched a little camping video I made with my family because my son wanted you to see it. It made his day that you responded. I love these winter trips and they never get old to me buddy. We own 83 acres of woods connected to the Shawnee National Forest. You’re always welcome here !

This was a healthy dose of Joe with a side of 'classic' Joe and a sprinkle of 'old school, still patching up BCO style' Joe (yeah, I go back that far!). You've come a long way my friend and it's a privilege to have so many years of "Ba-bam!" Robinet adventures to look back on and still even more to look forward to. great vid joe :) about the axe handle/head. make sure the wedge is a hardwood, cedar might not have been a great choice and make sure to pound in the axe head using inertia, don’t push the axe head directly down onto the shoulder, instead flip the axe upside down and pound the bottom of the handle with a wooden mallet instead, it will seat far far more evenly and the wood in the eye of the axe head will evenly grip the inside of the eye. i also recommend trimming the shoulder of the handle down enough so that when the axe head is fully seated there’s around half an inch or so worth of wood sticking out above the axe head itself (you can trim it down at the end once you’ve seated and wedged the head) and always make sure the axe head sits on the shoulder evenly and there’s no gaps on the bottom of the axe head where the handle enters the eye (and also that it’s not to big so that wood gets smushed out of the way). also you want the eye-wood to be conical. wider at the top than the bottom, but only EVER so slightly and only from left to right when looking from the top of the axe :)

I’m a real one Joe, from the second I heard you lost your brother I knew you would need some time, and the universe has a way of slowing you down when your not taking the break you so desperately need so the broken ankle helped you get that rest, I’m in the uk and I tell all young men to watch your stuff from the very beginning so they can learn how to survive if the shit hits the fan . Your amazing Joe, I watch but don’t normally comment but I felt I had to let you know, I feel you I get you and wasn’t the slightest bit surprised, no one owns you Joe, it’s your life and your process , we’re the lucky ones that you decided to share your process with, so the entitled haters can do one. Welcome back Joe, great personality, great style, You've got a plan, but trust yourself if there's a problem you'll come up with an idea that will work. I love this style of shelter. IDK why more bush crafters in the UK don't use this type of shelter, where there's lots of rock out-crops and cliffs, but not a lot trees and forests. Some wind breaks on the sides seems like it would keep more heat under the tarp. Good one, Joe. 😀👍

I really am at this point living vicariously through you. I am 58 years old and have been watching since you and Scout went out to just have bacon in the woods. I want to camp in winter conditions and know I can do it, but my work and commitment to making the last of my savings money is putting all that on hold. Once I retire for the second time, I would love to do some of the winter camping you do. If you ever want to add an American want to be bushcrafter to your experiences, I would drop everything to join in.
