I liked how Matt is just sitting there drinking coffee with attention on nice little navigation panel. Living in their controlled world where all that goes around is at times best just a few pieces, wife, cat, navigation system and and cup of coffee. Seems better in a way then living on land, or in traffic.

Love this video especially. Eleuthera was our home for a while. We built a house there. A whole lifetime it seems was spent there. Great memories. My husband and myself are eager to see your upcoming explorations in the Eleuthera/Spanish Wells area! If you want some ideas on places to explore we’d be happy to help! Someday we hope to live the boat life, and until then we live vicariously through you guys. Thanks for the great videos!

Not sure if you are still in Eleuthera, but if you are and your sail/drive down to Governor's Harbour, be sure to check out the closed Club Med Eleuthera on beautiful pink sand French Leave Beach. Closed in Sept 1999 due to damage from Hurricane Floyd. You get there by going east on Pine St about 3/4 mile, where road bears right (south) you take the left driveway.

I wish we would have had more time to spend in Eleuthera! We did Spanish Wells for a few days, waited out a night of west winds at Meeks Island, went over to Egg Island to dive the wreck, did the Devil's Backbone, spent a few days in Harbour Island, and then it was jumping on I-65 to get down to St. Maarten!

Love the cat tail at 2:37, totally spontaneous and funny! I really like the way you guys give a synopsis of your route plan on the map, it adds geographic context which I find helpful and adds a continuity from one video to the next as you hop through the islands. The monthly budget posts are also great, for people like myself who have cruising aspirations of their own someday.

Nice Camera Catch!! The monthly expenses may have been a little higher this time. If I may offer a suggestion or two. If you use Premier, FCP or Resolve, use the white balance picker to take out the color casts. In the cabin shot, the ceiling or page of the maps offered a decent white to balance the video with. Second, if your nav system allows saving tracks and/or waypoints, save any of the tricky entrances whilst you are navigating in the daylight, so if you do need to enter a harbour or marina, you can do safely with a saved track. Cheers and keep up the good work. Randy

@MJSailing6 жыл бұрын
The boat is currently in St. Martin, and in the next 7-10 days we plan to depart for our Atlantic crossing. We'll make landfall in the Azores for a few weeks, and then wait out the rest of hurricane season in Ireland.
@lenbertaux17616 жыл бұрын
Not like the medication in those patches, which is only effective if taken beforehand. You can find it online from Canadian pharmacies. It is not available in the US. We keep a supply on hand for offshore passages and ocean races.
@MJSailing6 жыл бұрын
Once we get to the Azores I can get better items from the Pharmacies there, but for our Atlantic crossing I'll probably put a patch on the morning we leave, wear it for three days, and hope my body adjusts after that.

Well you guys be coming back to florida during hurricane season? I see a lot of boater seeking shelter on the St. Johns River south of Jacksonville near Green Cove Springs, very protected area, we moved are Cat from Key West up the west coast of Florida and entered the Suwannee River, went almost to Fanning Springs where we have friends that have property on the river and a large dock, water depth coming up the river averaged 8 to 15 feet.
@MJSailing6 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, I think we've had enough Florida for one lifetime. ;) In real time we're currently in St. Martin preparing for an Atlantic crossing. We did the same thing 4 years ago to get to the Azores. We'll still make landfall there for a few weeks, and then run out the rest of hurricane season in Ireland.

Hi Guys, Enjoying the channell trying to catch upnslowly. Question: What is the mushroom type thingy on your starboard rail just on the quarter? D
@mattjohnson67166 жыл бұрын
Hey David, The mushroom shaped device on the pushpit is the GPS sensor for our VHF's DSC (radio safety information) and AIS (Automatic Identification System). Both of these systems use GPS position to tell other boats where you are. And since they are safety items and require reliability, they will not work with the GPS from the chartplotter, but instead need their own accurate GPS signal. Matt

Instead of getting a SIM card or paying through a connection in the harbour, we used it when we went to cafes or restaurants, so it's combined in the restaurants/entertainment category. Plus we were able to get it at the dock in St. Barth's and had a free connection in the harbour in Antiuga. 😉

Another good video. The chart book part was funny. How is the new sail and I will ask again about the maple cabin sole? Would you use maple again? I like the light color its just the expansion concern. Anyway you two are doing great. Be safe and take care with seasick meds. Whate are you using? Thanks for another great video. We just had Alberto here. Tidal effect, wind and rain but not that bad. Never discount the weather.
@mattjohnson67166 жыл бұрын
Richard, We have had expansion issues with the Maple. I had assumed it was the plywood underlay, but it seems that the 1/4" maple top is still expanding with moisture. We thought we had total epoxy encapsulation, but there must be some gaps allowing moisture to get in. Almost all panels have had to be shaved down to accommodate this expansion. Matt
