Onsen is one of the best things to experience in Japan. If you ever go there, get over your naked-ness fears and just do it! I've been skiing a few times in Japan and one of the highlights of the day is getting a 'fun drink', often sake, putting it in the onsen, soaking the aches of the day away and then having the fun drink in the foyer of the hotel. Great video Ryan and thank you for your advocacy of onsen!

You should be able to order your breakfasts and dinners to have in the privacy of your own room. When I was young we used to go have a soak before dinner as a family, then come back up to our rooms to find dinner waiting for us. Ryokans are the best and I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in one.
