Overnighter at Nant Rhys Bothy - A 👻HAUNTED👻 Forest Shelter

We hiked through the green desert of Wales for an overnighter at haunted Nant Rhys bothy. The ghosts of the family that abandoned it in 1885 made a few creaks in the night...
I made the mistake of not downloading the route map before we set off so there was a few diversions along the way! At the start we were greeted by highland cows who were there with their calf's and the bull too. After tentatively waiting for them to pass we headed off. The bothy was in great condition but the wood situation was not so good with the area being picked clean of supplies. The bothy gave us the shelter we needed on a rough night of wind and rain. Next time we go we need to take some darts and our own wood supply for the burner.

Hi there, I stayed here a few months back and checked this with a friend who comes out here a lot. He confirmed that this was not the haunted bothy, I can't remember it's name, but the haunted bothy is nearby. My friend (a level headed science teacher) had stayed there with friends, read of its history, and found it had a creepy atmosphere. So a few weeks later he went back with his wife and kids, without telling them it's history. They were woken up in the night by the sounds of the furniture being moved around in the adjacent room. My friend got up and went to see who was making all the noise, to find that they were still the only people staying there. In addition, his young son acquired an imaginary friend whilst staying there. He offered to take me to it but I declined :-)

Hi there mate a lot of these places have a bit of a grim past I think that's why theyve stayed abandoned all these years! This one had a few members of the family die so they moved out I guess thinking it was cursed. Nant syddion bothy is the same story and might be the one you're thinking of!

So I stayed here 2 years ago and didn’t do any prior research, didn’t get a wink of sleep all night because of all the noises, someone banging on the front door intermittently and lots of noise in the next room that sounded like things moving around. This week we stayed at Nant syddion (which is a lovely building and area) literally lasted 1 hour in the building before legging it as we heard what sounded like a group of people arrive but didn’t come in, we went outside to check who was arriving and there was not a sole to be seen anywhere, and more noise around the back of the house but no person or animal in sight 😱😂 🏃‍♂️

Sometimes it's better not to know the history! Bothies can be an unsettling place at the best of times. A house in the middle of nowhere that anybody can come in whenever they want! It can be hard to get settled

That is quite the shelter. In the US our shelters are just 3 walls and the front is open. Man you are staying in luxury with all these amenities, ha ha. Another nice video Mr. Wild Wales. ~RVA~

We really do have some luxury ones here! Most of them are abandoned buildings and it's the 'mountain bothy association' that maintain them

Decent visit to Nant Rhys. It's a spooky looking affair with an equally spooky story attached. It's alright once you get the fire stoked though especially when wet outside. It is after all one of the wettest places in the country with over 2,000mm of rain annually. So, no surprises in you getting soaked. Thanks for the tour. It brought back memories of 2016. Had a great psi trance rave party down the track to way back in 2005. The area attracts the wild for sure. Good going. Mark

How much chilli sauce dude??????????? You didn't need a fire with the amount of chilli you put on that burger, and i liked the way you just calmly said "It's a bit spicy" whilst eating it. You didn't kid us dude we could see the pain in your face, and i have a fair idea what you actually wanted to say!!! But those kind of words might have needed a bit of editing. Excellent as always mate, first class. The dude with you was a good laugh, nothing like a night camping in good company.
