Never been to the tunnel entrance before, nice to see what it looks like. The MBA deserve some praise for saving Wills Bothy from demolition, it was looking very likely we would lose it a few years back. Nice to see it is being used by people who respect the place, at one time it was attracting the wrong crowd. Thanks for taking us along on your final adventure of 2019...All The Very Best to you and Miss Solitaire, not forgetting t'olad and t'olass (penny & monty)...for 2020....R&D :):)

Decided to take a look at the tunnel to satisfy my curiosity..it be interesting if they would re use it if the Waverley gets extended although lots of work still needed on that subject. Enjoyed the night in the bothy loads of querky features since my last visit and the railway book wasan excellent read.Lovely and toasty once the stove got going and handy for the kettle staying warm.Hopefully there be no trouble there as its fairly easy to get to from the road..be a shame if it got wrecked, some stirling work done on it. Hoping to visit more in 2020. Time to plan ideas for this years outings...All the best to you both for the new year and new adventures and making memories.atb Mark.

Bit a rough day for a day out mind and nice when you got a bit of shelter, which I bet Monty appreciated. Funny how nature takes over and all the sleepers covered now with moss. The bothy looked real good, although a bit dingy but the fire and them candles made a difference mind. What a difference a day makes, I love a white frost morning and all the very best for 2020 to you too, cheers Alan

Aye it got a bit rough and wild up there initially..was a horrid day but once in the bothy it was toasty.Felt warmer than last Jan's day walk there. No sun made it pretty dark inside but candles spread everywhere helped.Pleasant night as well with decent books to look at ..Can't beat walking early doors on crisp days..love it..Ready for more 2020 adventuring around and getting fresh air. All the best to you Alan too for 2020 ...hopefully good weather good health and plenty of vids to watch..Mark.

Looked a decent night in wills bothy , nice and toasty then waking up to a hard frost . My GoPro or to be fair most cameras suffer with the cold like . I always put min in bag with me now on cold nights . Wet sleepers are lethal aswell, miss solitaire was lucky . Atb for 2020 Dave

I had the Akaso on when leaving the bothy..then it just died..Mind it worked at home..just deffo hates the cold. May stick to camcorder till warm weather comes.. Nearly slipped on the sleeper myself..Helen had a mark on her leg afterwards..Good bothy though and bog was handy..could camp outside in summer months shame that some flouted the driving up to it rules 🤔. ATB Mark.

Great adventure guys. That was a nice claggy walk in. I was enjoying the candle holder in the Bothy. Lent some class to the interior. Ha ha! Well, that was a wonderful crisp morning and fabulous tour around the castle. It was an epic structure - well is an epic structure still. Well preserved. Any way, both a full view. Enjoyed that one. All the best for the year ahead. Mark

Thanks Mark, the candle holders were a lovely feature....now on the lookout for more in charity shops..perfect for bothies and its nice to make a contribution to them in some way. Love bothy visits at this time of year.Yep Hermitage castle is a lovely robust and strong structure ..would love to see what history is inside one day so that is one to film. There is a chapel ruins nearby which i didnt walk to but will look on my next visit. It was nice to cram in stuff on the trip out .Railway sidings were also very interesting to see old carriages from around Britain. Roll on more adventures in 2020.. atb Mark.

@@markredfox73 A pleasure. Yeah little contributions like the candle holders do make it interesting for others and hey practical. I look forward to going back to the castle and chapel - another good explore. I agree with the sidings and rolling stock. Rail is a big part of our history. Roll on no pun intended. Ha ha!

Fascinating....thanks.......can you confirm.....just where Wills bothy is. Is it, or was it part of Riccarton Junction station buildings? Happy walking. Geoff.

If you are in that area its just around the corner from the old station workings..there is a gate by the trees and down a short banked path..you should be able to find it easy enough.Enjoy when you visit.atb Mark.
