That's a fine list. I too got sick of 'Kashmir" from hearing it too much but have also reappraised it in recent years. Frankly, I never get tired of any Doors songs. They are so iconic and unique that they transcend familiarity. Cheers.

As I mentioned on severalof your videos, we have extremely similar tastes. I never get tired of "Maggie Mae" or "You Wear It Well." Likewise, "Jumping Jack Flash," "Monkey Man," Manfred Man---Give me "Pretty Flamingo." LA Woman-yes, Roadhouse Blues, better.. When I listen to Elton John, I play "Funeral for a Friend," All the Young Girls love Alice," "Your Sister Can't Dance" and "Saturday Night." , Live from Buddakan, I can go on and on...

'Every Picture' seemed to be a perfect album from the first day I brought it home in 1971, and "Maggie May" is the song. 'Surrealistic Pillow' is also one of my very favorite album. I love Grace's voice, but at this late date Marty Balin's two love ballads are the songs that still get to me most. Of course it doesn't get over-played but the unique poetry and mood of "Coming Back to Me" still still holds a strong romantic vision. I listened to "Sympathy for the Devil" recently and remain amazed by it. It's as close as Jagger ever got to writing a Dylan like song. Many times I've played Led Zeppelin's cover of "In My Time of Dying" just on its own. It's long, each element is stripped-down and raw, voice, drums, guitar. To me it's enough on its own. What a performance.

I read somewhere that Jumping Jack Flash was a return to form for the Stones and rescued them from their period of psychedelic experimentation. Great song with lots of energy. I never tire of it.

I totally agree with Jumpin' Jack Flash. I have loved that song ever since I was a little kid. There was a kids show up here in Canada called Hilarious House of Frightenstein that was actually kind of scary for young kids. But they had this wolfman character who would dance to Jumpin' Jack Flash in some kind of psychedelic holideck. I always think of that when I hear that song, and want to groove out to it like the wolfman did.

Tumbling Dice is my Stones always listen to. Ramble On is my Zeppelin. Spirit, Eyes of Silver, Road Angel from that Doobie album. Suffragette City Volunteers Can't hit the off button fast enough for any Manfred Mann LA Woman same here I might listen to Saturday Night by Elton depending on the mood I'm in but that's about it. I don't listen to radio anymore but when I hear some of these songs in the convenient store or grocery shopping I usually stick around to the end if I'm not in a hurry: Just about every Motown song, Sultans of Swing, Born to Run, Night Moves, Cinnamon Girl, every Kinks tune, to name a few. Most of the songs I will sing along with while I'm in the store but not that many that I would stick around just to hear the finish. Now I will read the rest of the comments to see what I missed, like Lou Reed Walk on the Wild Side. Cheers

Some of my faves serve to underscore what you mean by overplayed. Because they are OVERPLAYED. But l still love 'em. "Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who. It comes on the radio, l listen to every second of it. "Stairway to Heaven". Led Zeppelin. There really is a lot going on with this song. It's worth a thousand listens. "Bohemian Rhapsody". Queen. If you like it, you like it. I still love it. "What l Like About You". The Romantics. As much as l love this song, l think l love the follow-up, "When l Look In Your Eyes" which is, essentially, "What l Like About You" with the chord progression played backwards, even more. "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes". CSN. If you don't think this song is gorgeous even after hundreds of listens, you got a hole in your soul. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" The Rolling Stones. Keith Richards. A Maestro Fuzz Tone. This thing ain't overplayed. To this day, when l hear it, it's like l've never heard it before.

Live in Budokan is probably an important album for Cheap Trick, in general, in that I feel like it took them out of touring mostly Illinois in the states (even my small craphole city😂), and got them over with a wider audience. The difference between "I Want You to Want Me" on that album and it's studio version is proof of that.

I tried to make a list, but I blew past 50, before I got through "L"! I suspect, my list would look a lot like my Favorites playlist, with 200 songs on it, by the time I got done. Even limiting it to one song per artist, I ran over. Good video, but impossible to achieve. Maybe 100, to include the many cuts by artists who only made a few stellar recordings. This is the best I can do, but as soon as I post it, I'll remember another song I couldn't leave off, but did. This list just barely scratches the surface! It is two minutes, 21 seconds of great rock 'n' roll! Number Nine on my Favorite 200 list of the Best Rock Songs of the 1960s-1990s. The 8 songs before it are a Who's Who of Classic Rock, from Jimi to Pink, Floyd, that is.

I've played that list, beginning to end, driving cross-country, border to border, and other endurance tests. It has most of the songs I can't hear "too many times", like Voodoo Chile (Slight Return), and All Along the Watchtower, Walk this Way, Money, I Can See for Miles, Woodstock, 7 and 7 Is, Born to Be Wild, Train Kept A-Rollin', Crossroads, Layla, Absolutely Sweet Marie (Jason & the Scorchers' version), Shakin' All Over (3 versions!), Mr Soul, A Million Miles Away, etc.

Having a chuckle, trying to imagine Tom as a six-year-old. I agree with all of these, including the ones mentioned in passing, except "Tiny Dancer" -- not liking the obscurity of the lyrics, so substitute "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting". For the original of "Kashmir", I prefer the Godzilla closing credit version with Puff Daddy on vocals, "Come With Me", but the original is fine. Only thing I can think of to add right now is "Take It Easy" by The Eagles, and I bet Tom would too. I could die happy because I never had to hear "Hotel California" again, but early Eagles still works for me.

I think it's hilarious that you said you took a break from Led Zeppelin when you stop listening to Classic Rock Radio. Back in the early nineties before satellite radio whenever my brother would turn on Classic Rock Radio in the car I would always scornfully say depending on what song was playing, "All Led Zeppelin, All Tom Petty, etc.,All the Time! I refused to listen to Classic Rock Radio on principal. You can imagine my amusement when satellite radio came out with channels devoted to one particular band. I never listened to that either.

It was odd you mentioned Ryko records. I wondered what happened to that label, although it was a U.S. only label, but we could get them here on imports. They reissued all the early Bowie albums, not including the Deram one, with wonderful bonus tracks. Then they got deleted, and after EMI acquired the rights to his material, they reissued them without the bonus tracks, which made me feel out in the cold, to think those bonus tracks were seemingly not available anymore.

Paint it Black - Rolling Stones The Letter - The Box Tops One - Metallica Agree with you on "Maggie May". Probably because it's his only great song. For me if there is a successful act with only 1-2 songs I really like, I never get tired of hearing it. Runaway by Bon Jovi is an example.
