Overpowered CEDH Yawgmoth Thran Phycian Infinite Combos EDH Deck Tech! Updated List!

This is my updated list on Yawgmoth Thran Phycian EDH deck tech, this list is an update version of my previous list, it is a lot more pricy but much more powerful , super fun to play and normally combos off by turn 4 often even turn 2 or 3 , possibly even turn 1 with the right hand !

Pretty late for the party, but some advice for the undying combos: 2 undying creatures isn't the only way to do the combo. Ogre Slumlord, Pawn of Ulamog, Genesis Chamber, Blight mound, or anything that creates a creature whenever a creature dies or enters the battlefield and 1 undying creature works as well.

To be honest I couldn't see the hype with yawgmoth. My son had a deck but never really did well with it .but after watching your video and changed around 10 or 12 cards . I now see the hype . He is a combo machine and very hard to beat. Thanks with your explanation of some of these combos my son kicks my ass all the time now with this deck . I have even used it a few times..probably now my favourite commander

Haunt of Hightower seems super solid, I originally didn’t run it because it’s a 6 drop, and I thought a bit slow , but it has a ton of raw power and is 100% worth putting in either if you have enhough ramp or if you are playing less to the combo game plan ! Hello! I also play yawgmoth and it can get really competitive, after playing a lot of games with it the combo is shut off with cards like anafenza or rest in peace. With that, you should include another combo that wouldn't utilize the graveyard. I personally run the bolas aetherflux top combo in order to deal with this. Also, consider running bitter ordeal which can be very helpful instead of running high cmc cards. Lastly, you can add a card like ulamog and discard outlets (although yawgmoth can also be an outlet) for you to reshuffle your deck. Yawgmoth is one of my favorite commanders out there. 😁 Love the video.

Thanks for the info! Yes graveyard hate can be annoying. I'm still somewhat new to more competitive decks, so I probably made few bad includes on high cmc cards just because they would be good in normal edh. Nice list , if I may offer some constructive criticism, for a cedh list your curve is extremely high. You also have near nothing (hand hate aside) to protect your combo pieces, if you sit at a combo focused table most decks have a heavy focus on disruption and protection. Cards like imps michief will help your commander resolve. Hope of ghirapur will help in this regard too You have a tone of redundancy in combo pieces but a lot of them are high cmc like vindictive vampire which are sub-optimal. The higher you get up the cedh list the less creatures you will see, so cards like dictate of Erebos like vindictive vampire just art not worth them mana investment. Overall the deck looks strong but I imagine needs some tuning before being a 9/10 -10/10 deck Great job

Thanks a ton for the advice! Yeah I am pretty new to playing any sort of deck that is really above a 7.5/10 ( as in often wins by turn 5 or earlier if you know what im saying ), so any advice is really appreciated, when building this deck I had the thought in mind that I would just be pulling it out against one of my normal play groups and destroying them all with this deck against there lower teir lists XD, But I soon realized its not super fun to win almost every game in the first few turns so I now am mainly playing it against other CEDH decks. Yes cutting the high CMC does seem good as it seems to be often just super clunky playing out something like dictate on turn 4/5 that has no immediate board impact, I will defintley try to look into getting a lot more protection and interaction cards over the less powerful cards/higher cost cards, or random utility that does not really need to be in the deck. Once again thanks a lot :)

@@tundrumgaming4582 you're welcome, some pods are just not a good test of these style of decks , i try to have a range of decks between casual , high casual and semi competitive (8-8.5/10) my strongest list is a ghave list that abuses persist and undying so similar to yours but runs a lot of stax pieces. i do this because its a lot slower and needs these to keep up with the local cedh meta. things like trinisphere and tanglewire are staples in these decks. its taken me some time to narrow down my list and its a shadow of what it used to be and i get the feeling your on a similar path. good luck and happy brewing

So when you have the nest of Scarabs/ Genesis Chamber/ Ogre with 1 Undying creature out you essentially cannot go infinite, right? You start saccing the Undying creature and need to distrubute the -1/-1 from Yawgmoth now. If your opponnets dont have enough dudes out you dont really have a place to put those counters right? or what am I missing?

You have ( ill just use nest of scarabs and butcher ghoul as examples ) on the field, You sac the Ghoul, put the -1 -1 counter on one of your other creatures or any enemys creature, you then make a 1/1 you then sac the 1/1 put the -1 -1 on the butcher ghoul and you make a 1/1 you then sac buthcer ghoul and it comes back and you put the -1 -1 counter on your 1/1 you then make another 1/1 you then rinse and repeat, you can still go infinite with this combo but you do need 1 other creature anywhere on the field to put a -1 -1 counter on orignally :).

Afaik as soon as you activate Yawgmoth Sac Ability you have to target a creature and cant wait till the Token producer spits out its Token. I am so confused on these. (Pawn of Ulamog, Ogre etc...)

Pretty much they work the same you just sacrifice them all at insant speed before their negative triggers go off and just stack up a massive stack and do the entire combo before the enemy gains control of the dweller or you have to sacrifice something for the lord. Cheers

Id replace Vendetta with Tragic Slip. Getting the morbid trigger is super easy for this deck and -13/-13 will kill anything in the format.

Yes tragic slip is probably a better include by all means, I just put in vendetta as I sometimes end up having to make myself lose a creature just to trigger morbid on their turn to stop them from going off ,which then sends us back multiple turns . Tragic slip is probably better overall though and is definitely worth the include . And you do need to keep in mind the life loss which can really hurt and the fact it can’t hit black creatures has caught me out a lot also .

Good luck building the deck! Ideally removal is good, but cards like thoughtseize and duress can be very solid hand disruption to use on your opponents to really slow them down early game, ideally a mixture of removal and those is best, but they can also be solid on their own. I don’t know the specifics but pretty much. Sac first undyer put the -1 -1 on something, then it comes back and you then sac the 2nd undyer put the -1 -1 on the first undyer, then repeat the process as much as you want 👍. Nest of scarabs also works as substitute for an undyer or even on its own as long as there are enemy creatures to put the counters on. Thanks for watching :)!

Just buy the gold bordered version of yawgmoth's will. Gold bordered cards aren't allowed in Wotc official sanctioned tournaments but because EDH doesn't have any official Wotc sanctioned tournaments they're legal in casual play. My LGS even allows them in their commander tournaments.

You should consider adding praetor's grasp and diabolic intent otherwise really solid deck. I run my yawgmoth a bit different, have a second wind con through skirk prospector into torment of hailfire

Thanks a lot! Yes prateors grasp and diabolic intent are pretty good cards I should probably be running. I think a 2nd win con would be a good idea as I often get shut down from graveyard hate and other effects that lock yawgmoth away. Thanks for the info :)

I think it does still work as the gain control trigger goes on the stack so in response you sacrifice it the undying trigger goes on the stack above it and then as it re enters and the gain control goes on the stack again you then sac the other creature and put the -1 -1 on the pit dweller ( this was also on top of the gain control trigger ) and then you just repeat all at instant speed, tons of gain control triggers go on the stack but you just deal the damage and sac on top of it, but correct me if there is something I’m missing .

@@tundrumgaming4582 this is the explanation I'm seeing online (I could be wrong) You activate Yawg, targeting [[Treacherous Pit-Dweller]] (TPD), sacrificing Random Undying Creature (RUC). * Stack: BOTTOM {Yawg's activated ability} {RUC's Undying trigger} TOP RUC is returned with the +1/+1 counter. TPD gets the -1/-1 counter. You activate Yawg, targeting RUC, sacrifing TPD. * Stack: BOTTOM {Yawg's activated ability} {TPD's Undying trigger} TOP TPD is returned with the +1/+1 counter. TPD's control-change ability triggers. * Stack: BOTTOM {Yawg's activated ability} {TPD's ccontrol-change trigger} TOP Now, both TPD and RUC have a +1/+1 counter. If you activate Yawg again, which ever Creature you sacrifice won't trigger its Undying. If you let TPD's control-change trigger resolve, you'll lose control of it and won't be able to sacrifice it.
