Y'all are killing me with the lemony fresh hate today! I hadn't considered that people might just buy a bag of lemons to display and then toss. I'm a bowl of lemons (and other fruit) type of a gal. Always have one on my dining room table alongside some cut flowers and pretty bowl of napkins. I think seeing the fruit helps remind me to eat it! If any of you kooks are just buying lemons for looks, try squeezing some lemon in your water, especially in the morning. Your liver and skin love some lemon!

I just want good _quality_ soap. I feel like during the pandemic liquid soap lost it’s potency. It took twice as much to wash your hands. I’ve always used my own glass soap bottles to refill and I recently added to my bathroom a foam pump one where you mix your own, and I love it. It’s made of gorgeous ornate glass, it uses so much less product and my hands feel cleaner but less dry after washing them (bc I added some lotion to my soap blend!). Anyways, dusty soap is such an antithetical thing to see as decor, man. The smell dissipates if no one uses it. I do loooove the smell of a fancy bar of soap tho. I use a fancy charcoal bar soap to clean my makeup brushes

Not to mention scent sensitivity is incredibly common, whether it's the fragrance irritating skin or if the scent itself causes headaches. Idk not the investment for me.

If you Mother has been a quilter for many a long year, you can imagine what many of our homes look like, fabric rooms, sewing rooms, quilts everywhere, finished ones, partially finished ones........Would love to see you use your Mother's quilting life as a way to teach we quilters out here how to display and show our quilts without making our homes look like a Bed, Bath and Beyond store.

I want to weigh in on the paper lantern tooic... as an artist, I can tell you I've purchased watercolor paper for $35 to $50 FOR A SINGLE SHEET 3ft × 4ft). There's some great quality artist paper, with incredible durability, embossed, anything you want. However, paper lanterns are not usually made with artisan quality paper. In this case, I'd absolutely recommend paying an artist to make you a custom lamp, and paint it, or build it as a one-of-a-kind piece for your home. You'll get a say in the paper quality, and what goes on it, and trust and believe that will be much more special than a box store lantern, that everybody has🖤🥰

Fun fact about flat pack furniture. I've been told by multiple movers that they do not guarantee prefab/ flat pack furniture will be moved safely, because it often falls apart in the truck. (Actually had the flat pack piece I'd been using for my TV stand collapse after a move to a new apartment in Chicago. Currently, my TV is located on an antique dresser in my house, so no chance of collapse.)

Hello young fella, What a super fiery worded episode 😍 I should confess that only after watching you, the sense prevailed in me to support local business and be bio friendly as much as possible. From the time I have met you, I had applied these 2 principles everywhere I had been, and as much as possible I tell others as well to support local business and be environment friendly. I never knew that there are hand soaps these expensive around. I prefer to buy as much as organic and hand made products and support the talented skilled people around. It’s so wonderful to hear you as along with design you also impart so many life lessons of being grounded, be respectful, be acceptive and above all never forget to be cheeky😘 Thank you for everything. Have a beautiful day. Lots of love

I just feel it should be about the quality and ingredients in the soap vs just the name on the bottle. Honestly, we wash our faces with soap from a quality skin care line, and we use organic soap, a more natural product for hands, baths and showers. Not that any of this is actually cheap, but I’m not the type to try and impress anyone with designer soap, and spend money to that effect. Supporting small and local businesses when possible is admirable!😊😊😊

@@GarrettLeChic I totally agree with everything you mentioned. Especially all the organic things whether hand/body wash, hair products, makeup, food inclusive are way more expensive than the commercial products around, but as you said we value quality over quantity and always reminding ourselves what we are leaving behind for the upcoming generation. Hi Garrett-I need to thank you. You really inspired me one day to look in Craigslist. That I week, in Craigslist, I found and purchased a family’s grandmother’s immaculate Mahogany secretary with double arched hutch from the late 1980’s for $150. Another fantastic video! And so spooky - I was literally thinking about those bowls of lemons you see as decor and wondering whether there was a long-lasting alternative just a couple of hours ago (looking for some yellow accents for my kitchen). How did you know?! 😀 I just want to thank the people in the Le Chic community who persuaded me to paint my kitchen cabinets. I finally got round to it last weekend and I'm so glad I did. The cheap fake wood is gone and they're now a gorgeous shade of terracotta pink ('Red Earth' by Farrow and Ball) and I'm loving the pink, green and yellow combination I have going on. Just waiting for some fabric to be delivered to make a blind that pulls in all three colours to tie it all together. When it comes to fruit and veg decor, I have used pumpkins and squashes as decor before. They're really good value as they can last 6 months or more before they go bad. Real lemons though, not so long!

I was referring to people using fruit such as lemons just a decor piece which I can’t agree with when people around the world are going without a meal today, plus there are more elevated ways to decorate a kitchen. 100% in agreement with all of these. That said, I LOVE paper light shades and fully intend to replace my hideous faux Edwardian overhead/central light fixtures [inherited with the house I bought] with them: well at least some of them. The thing is though, I know I won't be moving from this house for a few years if ever, so I feel kind of safe making this choice. You can barely get the paper ones up without damaging them, and thinking you can get them down, transported and hung up *again* without wrecking them further is a fool's errand. Even changing the light bulb is risky. ETA I will be paying a few quid each, not hundreds of pounds or even tens of pounds! That way I can afford/get the kind of gorgeous vintage [nearly antique] light fittings I want for my downstairs rooms.

I use about one to two lemons a week in drinks and cooking. I do love them in a bowl on a table, but I would not want to waste. I have been thinking about using a few artificial ones but have not seen any I like. I will check out your link. I did have a bowl of lemons out for a Capri themed party in May but at the end of the party I sent them home with people as a "parting gift" :)

Oh my gosh Garrett, everything is overpriced. I recently purchased (online) a rather expensive single (not a set) outdoor sofa. Even though I have a bistro set on my patio, I wanted something I can lie down on. The sofa looked great in the photo. The reviews were decent. However, the sofa is so uncomfortable. The back of the sofa is at a 90 degree angle. It hurts to lean back. The cushions are hard and noisy. It is nothing I wanted it to be. Online shopping is not my preference at all, but where I live, my choices are very limited. I’m not sure if you already put out a video about online shopping, as I’m a relatively new subscriber, but I’d really appreciate your take on and tips about online shopping. Love your channel Garrett! Love it for me and love it for YOU (had to say it lol)! 🤗

I've had some hanging paper lamps for 20 years. Very inexpensive ones at that. They still look great! Rice paper is PH neutral, so it doesn't yellow or weaken with age. I've always just dusted them with a paintbrush or a microfiber cloth. The material is actually not that fragile, plus it's usually held in shape with a network of metal wire or wooden sticks. You can't get it wet, but it's not going to crumble under your touch.

I have lemon in my room temperature water and in my evening tea every day - I love lemons! But we don't use it as decor. An acquaintance of mine said that in California where she has her winter home, lemons trees are so prolific you can't use them all or even give them all away, so in that case, they might as well be decor.

☑️☑️☑️ I still would not use them as decor. I think there are more creative and interesting types of decor overall than displaying fruit. It’s to bad those extra lemons might go to waste.

@@GarrettLeChic yes, probably better given to a food bank if they accept fruit in other locations. Where I live, they will come and pick your trees for you (apples, cherries, pears), that way they know the fruit has not been altered.

YES!!!!! Ok getting on my soapbox, MANY people I have talked to including Antique Dealer DON’T know their WOODS!!! You can’t go by color cuz with the right stain mix that honey oak 1990’s piece can trick the eye to appear very lux unless someone knows WOOD and it’s unique grain (btw everyone hates oak but it is beautiful). Ranting here, but SO many think of that DARK red Veneer when you say Cherry 🤣😫. Learning your wood grains, stain copies and construction is SO much better then Buying Flatpack! Ok got that out of my system 😂😂😂😂. Another Great Video Garrett!

So true with the soap, I totally agree. I also like fruit in the fridge, thank you! I thought I was the only one. However, sometimes you do end up with a lot of fruit that is unripe, and Those do get piled up in a nice bowl to ripen. No, no, no to the paper or plastic lighting. No matter how little or how high they may cost. Designer or not, I do not like it, just my opinion for myself. Thanks for your entertaining and informative videos! Love them all.

Hello Lovely LeChic Fam, Garrett, yes I agree 💯, migraine suffer very sensitive to smells, I prefer a more neutral smelling soap. Fruit as a centerpiece... it's "The Breakup Movie" all over again. Baby wanted 12 lemons for the centerpiece. Fruit, No! Flowers, yes! Thank you for talking about sustainable products. There's just no need to keep filling up our landfills with disposable furnishings when they wear out because you know they will. Until next time, hugs xx

Garrett you are hilarious and wise as always! And I agree with everything except I do like my pears room temperature, lol. Also I've had a few beautiful paper lights for years and I can't believe people are paying thousands??? I paid a few dollars! That's why I bought them, because I didn't have much money at the time, lol. Sounds like reverse trickle down economics - inexpensive, creative decor trickles UP into whatever price the market will bear? Anyway, love this video, thank you Garrett!

I have a beautiful little tomato plant (fake) that I love and guests often wonder how I can grow tomatoes in my breakfast room! My brother tried to pick one at a party once…he was so surprised it wasn’t real. Fun! When our kids were at home I always had a big bowl of fruit for snacks. Especially our boys, who were growing so fast and ALWAYS hungry. I miss that and hung on to the fruit bowl for a little too long once they were grown and gone. Still miss that. It was pretty and so practical. Now with just the two of us our fruit is in the refrigerator.

Another great video- informative, with your special brand of humor, Garrett! I am so glad you mentioned about the food waste as decor! (I like my fruit cold, also.) Yes- if you can buy better than flat pack, your items will usually last much longer, and also some of the cheaper stuff off-gasses, badly. I am one of those scent-sensitive people. Tons of allergies. For anyone interested, a soap that is great for people like me is called 'The Soap Works'. Comes in pump bottles and refill bottles. Some of those unscented and supposedly hypoallergenic soaps have made my hands raw. Not this one. Love all of your advice, as always, along with the nice pics. The white and grey bathroom was beautiful. 'Til next time...!

I agree with both you and Garrett. I am also a senior, and my assembly skills are long past gone. After looking for two years, I finally bought two small tables assembly required. I am really happy with both, although pieces that I assembled in my younger days have not held up as well as my "better" pieces. However, at my age, as long as they still fulfill their function and look okay, I won't replace them.

Soap is soap is soap is soap is soap! Get a fragrance you like and keep it simple. And this applies for those pricey candles too! OMG, some of you are paying $50 and $100 for something you burn? Buy once (if you can) for your furniture. You get what you pay for! Buy up if you can. Stop looking at what everyone else is doing and start developing your own style. Do some research online and come up with your own style at your price point. Garrett, THANK YOU for telling the truth about 'trendy', over-bought and overly expensive (or TOO cheap) trends that people feel they need to obtain to be 'in'.
