Hey Ernie, I value your reviews. There is a stove you have never covered. The stove is unique by it's size (Larger) and this appealed to me. The stove is a "Boundless Voyage firebox style titanium stove that is square and is 210mm high and 165mm wide and deep. It lacks reviews on the internet and is mark down at a low price for such a large titanium stove. I hope you can fit the time in to review it. Thanks for you many videos. I have learned a lot from them all.

I'll stick with my Soto Windmaster. Much more wind resistant. And I would worry about losing that cap that seems essential to folding the stove back up.

That's what I'm planning on getting next, possibly one of those cheap aluminum heat exchanger pots to go with it. I hear it's faster than a jet boil👍

Thanks for the candor. Seemingly, we have become obsessed with the requisite time required to achieve a boil which often only varies by seconds ? What real difference does it make whether brewing your tea can commence in 4 minutes 11 seconds, of 4 minutes 25 seconds ??? Cheers.

I have this stove, and 20 others. It is more wind resistet than most, and use less fuel in wind. Should have tested it against MSR pocket rocket deluxe. This and the SOTO windmaster is my favourite. Not the fastest boiltimes though

This guy is all about cranking out reviews for clicks. It’s quantity over quality and his depth of knowledge on stove tech is middling. Sadly a common case of getting drunk on KZbin creator status.

Get the Soto Windmaster instead. I also brought this to try it out and was disappointed. It's now in my car camping kit in case I ever need to cook and boil water simultaneously. Don't get me wrong, it will work for cooking and boiling, but there are much better options for what you paid.

Primus Titanium: (Ultra light weight) 3.1 oz, $119 Soto Windmaster Titanium: 2.3 oz, $65 MRS Pocket Rocket Deluxe: 2.9 oz, $70 MRS Pocket Rocket 2: 2.6 oz, $45 Jetboil Mighty Moe (stove only): 3.3 oz, $60 Now the Primus was pretty quick with no wind, but suffered greatly in the wind. More than doubled the time, and nearly doubled the gas used. I'll stick with alcohol, for short trips especially, less weight, less space, and less noise. I'll take the time penalty for the quiet.

BRS3000t. About $15, 25 grams, very compact, will fit anywhere. I've used mine for a couple of years, no problems. No loose parts to get lost. No built in wind protection or piezo ignitor but this Primus one doesn't have those either. Of course quite a small, concentrated flame and no regulator but I don't find that a problem as I mostly just boil water anyway.
@xenaguy01

@@Murgoh I specifically didn't include the BRS3000, as it has had mixed reviews. Some claim that the legs collapse. So I stuck with "name brand" stoves.

With the exception of the Trangia storm cooker all stoves suffer from the wind. I always use aluminum foil windscreen, cheap, lite, and helps with cold weather performance because it creates a warmer microclimate to vaporize the gas. For canister stove stability I’d definitely recommend the folding stands. They also keep the canister off the cold ground which will helps with performance.

Trangia still suffers from wind when using the frying pan.

Apart from my Trangia, the best system I have is the Optimus windshield that clips on to the gas canister collar. I combine it with an optimus crux and a primus trek kettle. For transport, the crux folds up and gets stowed under the cylinder. They then go in the primus pot with a wildo fold a cup and a lighter. The windshield clips round the pot and all stow in an optimus pot cosy. Once set up, the windshield really does protect the burner and the primus pot fits perfectly. The only downside is that frypans won't fit but I only use this set up for boiling water. As for the Trangia, it is the only one that works best when there is wind, even when using the pot holders in an upright position for the Billy or frypan.

Looks like a cool idea, and easy to store and carry, but yep, too tall and once the springy part malfunctions it's junk. And you know sooner or later you'll probably lose the cap thing too. Love all your videos, especially the stoves. Love to play with my small collection of old stoves like my Svea and 8r, but I won't be giving up my Firebox set-up any time soon.

Thanks for this one. I’ve gotten rid of all my Canister stoves Except for the pocket rocket which I keep for use on the back porch. I just don’t like carrying gas canisters in my backpack. And after a few days in the bush, I’m carrying empty canisters. I think it’s just easier to use my Emberlit stoves. Maybe use the Trangia when I want a quick hot drink or something.

Thanks for the review. It confirms that it was a good decission for me to not get this stove. I consider the cap to keep the legs together as one more con. It is a small loose part that can be easily lost in the outdoors.

Thanks for the honesty, truly appreciated. Got the BRS remote canister after seeing your review, is back in stock. Will be testing it but I trust you thus I’m sure I’ll be happy. I normally use my Firebox which I love and been using it for years but with all these fire bans, is easier to just pull the canister stove. I’m aware Firebox can be used with a canister as well but I seem to suffer from the same disease as you, I’m a stove hoarder lol.

A bright spark or a moments madness but having decided to CUT UP my unused Jetboil Sol Ti to make it more portable i then thought is there a role for the much maligned Primus Firestick , and what a revelation it turned out to be. Not only did it fit perfectly inside the built in heat exchanger but also had the bonus of unexpected stability allied to the impressive boil times and now is compact enough to take with me on my biking trips. Any one tried this and if so were they also suitably impressed with the results.

Credit has to be given to primus that they are still manufacturing in Europe and a pity there was no mention of the history and innovation behind this company. Would I buy this? No. I prefer my optimus stoves (who now manufacture in Asia) or Trangia (Sweden). I do have primus gear though and they are often different and end up cloned. One of my primus stoves is a twin burner canister stove that will take screw in canisters AND campingaz clic canisters. Quite a handy car camping set up.

I'd lose the cap on the first trip and then the legs would forever be springing open inside the carrying case. I'm not sure why that cap wasn't designed differently to either make it part of the top of the stove, or have it attached by some type of lanyard so it doesn't get lost.

Well probably against your video advice i have splashed the cash on this Primus stove , and your criticisms are definitely valid , but being quirky and made of titanium i took the plunge . The uniqueness the blue flame and controlability are the pros the price the limitation of pot stability and by far the most contentious issue the vulnerability in the wind all cons , i am attempting to at least consider making a bespoke Ti windshield which of course should have been provided by the manufacturers given the steep purchase price and limitations in all but perfect outdoor conditions ,all that said i like the bold attempt by Primus to at least think outside the box when they designed their firestick , maybe they will address some of these points and come up with firestick mini for the weight conscious backpacker !

To be honest, I don't feel that this review is fair, or gives an honest evaluation of the stove. If it is intended to use with a specific pot set, then that is how it should be initially evaluated. After that, by all means, use with ordinary pots, but only after it has been tested under the specified design parameters. From my experience with other heat exchanger pots, I have found them to be far more wind resistant with a powerful flame than ordinary pots.
