8:13 I love seafood and meat in general, I would love it in Italy or Spain or France. Too many tourists I can omit though. I just came back from Amsterdam, and probably because weather was cool about 45 to 55 degrees there were not so many people there. We easily got around town and took a bunch of pictures. Only problem was frost that killed early flowers this spring. So we still did see some of them but not as much as normally would be there. I did enjoy myself . So it depends when you go and where you go too. Oh so many factors contribute to your perception of places you visit. I dream of going back to Ireland at least one more time. I did love it there a lot.

Ooh, jealous, I love Amsterdam, just not super into the Red Light District. But I would totally live in Amsterdam if I could! That’s a bummer about the frost. If you love seafood I’d love to hear how you like Venice! My husband tried the squid ink risotto (popular there) and said it was good. We are really big fish people though. Thanks for watching and your comment, I love hearing about people’s trips :)

I share your opinions, except on two points. I'm a hopeless baseball fan. I discovered baseball in my early 20's and have been hooked, ever since. I loved Venice. I went there in early May 2023. The weather was perfect. Not hot, not cold...perfect! I loved the gondola ride, the visit to Burano, and our amazing meal at one of the smaller restaurants. Our tour guide always sought out the lesser-known locations for dining (those to which she took pleasure in taking us). I didn't travel to just Venice, so we were only there for one day, which was more than enough time to appreciate this unique archipelago. One 'tourist trap' in Venice that I thoroughly enjoyed was Harry's Bar, birthplace to the infamous Bellini cocktail. I think we paid 12 euros, and we enjoyed every pricey sip!

I did go to one Red Sox game where Big Papi saved the day with a grand slam, that was exciting. I’m a Premier League football (soccer) fan. I am not surprised that having a tour guide made it extra special! My regret was not knowing Venice is not a place that you can just show up to. We found one restaurant for locals but got tired of eating there lol. The others were booked solid… and we were there for 3 days, way too long. The gondola ride was lovely though. If i were to go back, I’d check out Lido or one of the other islands. Thanks for your thoughts and watching my video :)

A Bailey's coffee and an Irish coffee are two different things. They are generally both available at the same bars. (I love both, though not at the same time, of course.)

Just a note re: central America being a substitute to Hawaii. You won't get the same safe feeling in Panama or Nicaragua that you get in Hawaii. The only country that is somewhat safer is Costa Rica, and if you thought Hawaii was expensive, brace yourself. You will get even LESS value for money in Costa Rica than in Hawaii , and the beaches are not that nice in my opinion. I was on both the pacific (Manuel Antonio) and Carribean side (Puerto Viejo) and both were super touristy and a little sketchy, and the beaches were overcrowded and dirty in places. In my opinion, Costa Rica is way over-hyped and overrated. You will pay $50 for a sloth tour, every little attraction costs a lot of money. The infrastructure is not great, and it's basically a third world country with first world prices. At least Hawaii has good infrastructure, good plumbing and a good quality of goods and services for the price.

Yes, I agree Central American and Hawaii are not apples to apples, but I love the charm of “roughing it” a little in another country. In Belize, I stayed in a tin shack on the beach with no hot water, but it was so warm there that it felt refreshing! It depends what you want out of a vacation. I go to both Hawaii and Central America- Hawaii if I just want to lay by the beach and relax, and CA if I am feeling adventurous and want to see something a little different. Both areas are great. Thanks for writing and watching :)

Another great video Jess! I will have to put in my two cents worth in however on a couple of things: 1. Hawaii. Even though it's my home away from home.. I'll try not to be too bias. YES it's expensive. You are right about going to Mexico & Even South America cheaper for a tropical getaway. Since everything needs to be flown or shipped in & The fact it's a super popular tourist destination.. Prices will be high. If you are a first timer to Hawaii here is what I learned. Go to Oahu and see Pearl Harbor. It's an an amazing piece of history. Swim the beaches of Waikiki & Hike the trails of Diamond Head. After that you don't ever have to go back. See it once though! But then you will want to get away from the millions of tourists. Then next time visit a much more relaxed island of either Maui or Kauai. A lot less people & more quiet!.. I know deep down you love Maui Jess! :) 2. Baseball. I grew up on the beaches of LA & My parents always took us to Dodger games. So baseball has been in my family. It is an acquired taste in sports. Yes there is no clock. However this year they have started a pitch countdown clock that are making the games 90-120 minutes. Yes to speed up the game. Personally I'm not a fan of this. I don't mind a long game since a lot of the strategy of it is a mental game. And when I payed that much for a warm beer I want it to last. Everything else about LA you mentioned was on point! :) See you next week!

Hey, thanks for another awesome comment :) Ok, that Oahu itinerary sounds awesome, I’ll let you know if I end up doing that. I’d love to see Pearl Harbor. I spent way too much on my kitchen remodel so sadly Hawaii is not in the cards this year 🫠 Love your take on baseball too! I understand the nostalgia aspect for sure, just not the sport for me. But I’m really not a huge sports person (besides football/soccer). Til next time!
