Get out of here with that complete nonsense about the Masters being the greatest non-football event. The NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, Olympics, March Madness, etc were all better than the Masters *before* the PGA took Saudi blood money. At this point I'd rather watch the Tour de France. Ratings wise, Celtics-Lakers will always get the biggest ratings. Replace them with Warriors or Knicks and you'd still get huge ratings. Casuals who only tune in during the finals are more likely to tune in to watch one of those big team names, no matter who plays. Of course having Lebron or Steph, household names, also helps. You'd be surprised how few of those casual fans know about the Joker or appreciate what he does. He's not that flashy, he just systematically kills your team. It usually doesn't feel like he's dominating the game and you look at his stats and he obviously is. I'm surprised the guy working on a TV show for this long doesn't understand what brings in the viewers. He might want that matchup, that's fine, but it will draw smaller numbers for sure.

Comments dont seem to care about UConn... fair, nobody else in cbb matters right now. But its the best 2 year run of all time and UConn is above Duke, above UNC, easily above Kansas, and even above Kentucky right now. 6 in 25 years. UCLA's 10 in 12 years is unbeatable but it was the 60s... VERY strong argument for UConn as the best program of all time

I find it odd that Brockman insists the NBA finals has to be Boston vs. Denver. Yes the Celtics are clearly the best team in the league but the Nuggets aren't necessarily the best team in the west. As of today Minnesota has the same record and OKC is one game behind. So does his hypothetical "best two teams" finals match-up work when it's possible the Nuggets could still finish in third place in the West? Celtics are having one of those seasons though where they're doing so well that failing to win the title would go down as a historical choke. In some ways you don't want to finish the regular season too far ahead of the pack or that pressure is on. Finishing with the top record gives you the same seeding whether you're ahead by 1 game or 10 but you're not the perpetual butt of jokes if you fail when ahead by only a small margin. You don't want to be the 2001 Seattle Mariners or 2007 New England Patriots.

UCONN isn't a Blue Blood. They're easily the best program this century, but historically they haven't been great. They didn't make a Final Four until 1999. @@BigBoyJay_69 They made 5 title games and 11 final fours before UCONN made a single one. Duke was relevant before Coach K in the 80s, but over his 40+ year career he elevated them to Blue Blood status. Compare that to the single Elite 8 appearance for UCONN before the 90s and they're pretty clearly on a different level historically. If UCONN is still this good for another 15-20 years then maybe we can have the conversation.
@stevenkidd67617 ай бұрын
You're crazy dude. The only blue bloods since 2000 are Kansas, UNC and Uconn. Since, 1990 and the field being 64, Duke and KY are there. Duke and KY are sliding their way down to "Really Good Program" status. IU has lost their right to claim that. It was easier to win back with smaller fields.
