There is a reason it didn’t work out with the ex. Imagine what would have gone wrong if you were able to marry him. At least it worked out with your husband till the point you got married and had kids. Forget about the ex for now. Try to work it out with your current husband. Do what even you need to do. If you are from different cultures and backgrounds it is probably luck of communication. I suggest some serious therapy. Because you are having issues with your current husband, your emotions can easily cloud your judgment and the ex might look like he was the one that got away.

Hear me out on another side of it.. a woman / wife isn’t just miserable for no reason.. could it be that husband is neglecting her needs, doing haram things etc. that she keeps saying he is a different culture.. I read that as he is perhaps not following Islam or perhaps she isn’t.. there’s something not right there.. yes to counselling and if he is serious and wanting to be a proper husband he will work on the issues.. if not then don’t stay trapped miserable with this man.
