I got the Saturator last week after eyeing them for a couple months. It's been great so far on drums especially. To anyone thinking about getting one. Just do it!! Now, I'm about ready to go ahead and get the new Modular channel model (i think)!!

Curious if you’ve tried the SSL Fusion and if you could give your thoughts how they compare, or any other similar units that you’ve used. I’m intrigued by one-box mix bus processors.

Very cool.. Thanks for shooting this video. Do you have a peak limiter going as well? I see that the levels never topped -.1 going back into Logic.

Hi ! Thank you for this awesome demo ! I've been thinking of buying one, I was wondering if I would need mastering converters to really enjoy it ? Or if using insert on my SPL crimson will be enough ?
@BigHairyGuitars4 жыл бұрын
Your SPL will be fine. The Overstayer MC is a transformative box, so you'll get tons of new colors from it. If you just wanted to add .3db at 12khz, and have the rest of your audio stay pristine, than I'd say, get mastering converters.

@@BigHairyGuitars Thank you for the answer ! i'm sorry I didn't specify I was thinking about the MAS but your answer fit, I'm looking for the coloration from the box so it's all good :)

That Modular Channel sounds killer. I'm wanting to add an Overstayer piece to my rack. Do you find the Modular Channel an essential piece or more of an occasional piece? Also, what tune is that?!?
@BigHairyGuitars6 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam. The song is a tune called "Garage Monkeys", that I did for the Forza 7 original soundtrack. itunes.apple.com/us/album/forza-motorsport-7-original-soundtrack/1314088202 It's Aaron Sterling on drums, Jon Joseph on bass, and i'm playing guitars & keys. The Modular Channel is a contender for my, "if you can only take 1 piece of gear" award. My Vari-Mu is amazing for 'that thing', my 33609 is SO great, and the Bricasti is so rich and deep. None of those pieces can be replicated with software. I have the best emulations of them, and they are 2D copies at best. The Modular Channel more than any other piece in my racks adds instant vibe. That "thing" when need to add some personality or realism to the sound. The only problem with the MC, is that sometimes is sounds SO good on a particular instrument, that you don't want to take it off, so often I end up printing elements through it. It's great. I can say that without reservation.

Wow man, that soundtrack is suhweet! I have been listening ever since you turned me on to this. I bet that took an incredible effort to craft. I can honestly say that this was the first video game soundtrack that I ever bought, and I don't even play video games!

Also, do you have any experience with the Overstayer preamps? I've been looking at the Modular Channel and Jeff has a version with preamps and a version without preamps. I'm not lacking on preamps, so it's not like I need them or anything. Just wondering if it's a worthwhile place to spend money.
@BigHairyGuitars6 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam, (this is Michael responding from my guitar related KZbin account). Yes. The preamps are fantastic. Back when I got Jeff's (Turzo) fist 1/2 rack preamp box, I did a big preamp test against Vintech 1081, Api's, Millennia, vintage Neve 1073, Summit tube, and Summit Neve designed preamps. We were absolutely shocked that it was always near the top. The Millennia were always the most clear and hi-fi, but sometimes not pleasant, and lacking mojo. The vintage Neve's had a deeeeep low end. The API's had great midrange. The Overstayers sounded like API's with and extended bottom end like the vintage 1073. The API has a little more midrange punch, but it doesn't have the bottom end of the Overstayer. That's the preamp that is available in the Mod Channel. If you track a lot, then tracking into the Mod Channel with it's pres are great. If you are more of a mixer, you'll get tons of mileage out of the Mod Channel with or without the pres. Overstayer's new Imperial Channel has a different preamp the others. It has a more Helios flavor. It's also bonkers. More colored and vintage. Not for delicate sources like strings and quiet vocals because it's more noisey, but the noise is worth it for drums and bass and guitars. Crazy good. Short answer - the pres are really good.

maybe I'm reading your meter wrong but looks like you have balance issues. probably a filtering issue.
