So I bought this car, a lux model in blue and took delivery a week ago. It looks a stunner, people do stare probably cause there isn't much on the road atm. I had 2 people approach me in public out of intrigue in this car. In my view, inside feels absolutely premium, spacious and the tech is relevant although I'm sure the super lux is better. Urban driving is enjoyable but on the highway I find the 7 DCT a bit laborious shifting through the ratios. Did a short stint on sports mode and can feel the enhanced sensitivity on the throttle which is fun. Fuel wise I'm seeing abt 9.5l/100km. Traded in a Polo R-line for this and absolute no remorse. Wonderful car

@@sebuwam pleasure man. Thanks for the video I was looking high and low for an English/SA video before purchasing but I'm sure this will local prospective buyers greater insight. I bought that polo I mentioned last year as well. Didn't make financial sense either but was getting way more car for my money. I understand your H2 isn't too far off this Jolion so probably wouldn't make any sense at this point. Probably hold out for the H6 then

@@vm2620 Polo is a good car, no doubt about that, when driving it its like they understated performance numbers. I just feel like they are too expensive of late. Otherwise, I could trade for the H6 that I have seen doing rounds on KZbin but that would be when I get another child in 2 years time...🤣

I am from Australia and bought Jolion Lux LE model on the 11th of May 2021. I did about 2,000Kms so far on mainly urban and a little bit of motorway driving. I use Carplay and it works flawlessly alongwith Bluetooth. Android Auto will come ultimately. I can connect 2 phones simultaneously on Bluetooth. The driver assistance technology works, but I am vary of the automatic Lane Keep Assistance. The heated front seats are great. The seats are comfortable and you can sit for long hours no problem. There is lot of room for backrow passengers. I have a grand kid who sits in the back in a car seat and she had plenty of room for moving. There is space every where so you won't have to fight to keep things stored for everyone. Dusk sensing Headlights are great and provide great vision during nights. Rainsensing wipers also work as intended. The sound system by Harmon is great with 6 speakers. Being new engine, I am treating it with respect and once it is run for a few thousand KMs, I hope the pickup will improve. Overall my impression of the vehicle is good. It is a nice package and I didn't go for the top of the line because I don't like the glass roof. The build quality is good and the design is easy on eyes and my grandkid likes the blue colour - and says it is Elsa's Car.

Hi, now thats a detailed one. It is indeed a lovely vehicle to sit in and also to drive. I still discourage reliance on new tech in new cars as it might be very dangerous. Here in SA we already have android auto which was not there a month ago, so you need to check with your dealership if updates are already there. Otherwise I love your understanding of cars especially on how to drive a new one to let the engine settle in before you can get it to perform to its full potential. I understand why the young ones would love to be in the car, it has great space. I am not working for Haval but they really offering great value for money which we used to get only from premium brands like the germans.

Thank you very much for this video. I watched it over and over while I waited 2 months for my Jolion lux to arrive. The fuel consumption is averaging around 8.1 to the 100. I drove the car from Three Sisters to Cape Town and I still have a range of 280km when I got home which is amazing. I drove the car on a dirt road for 100km and the drive was extremely comfortable driving at 90kmph. This car is truly awesome, and beautiful. Every time I lock the car I walk backwards looking at this beautiful beast hehehe.

I agree, the design of the Jolion is something that caught my attention first. I did not know of Haval until I saw it in a parking lot. I went back and forward between buying a second hand red H2 or the Jolion but I am happy that I’ve decided to wait for the Jolion shipment to come in. The second hand H2 was sold within 2 days of me seeing it so I never got to test drive it. I still believe the H2 is a good car but the Jolion as the mandarin name implies is “my first love”. Just don’t tell my girlfriend I said that.

The boot capacity is 430l as per Haval Australia. In fact this car is similar in sizes to a Mazda CX-5.
@sebuwam
@sebuwam 3 жыл бұрын
Hi George, I doubt these figures are ever accurate anyway but 430L is quite extreme, Audi A3 is my reference, measuring 380L (I did not measure ofcoz) but this looks way smaller than that on the A3.
@sebuwam
@sebuwam 3 жыл бұрын
If you check the dimentions on CX5 and this one, you will see that the CX5 is longer but has a similar wheel base to this one, which means the remainder of the size is probably shared between the front and the back. Having driven the CX5 before, it appeared similar size in the cabin but the boot is way bigger to my eyes (I wear glasses so one never knows if I measured correctly🤣)
@ZZGZBF
@ZZGZBF 3 жыл бұрын
@@sebuwam I got info from both Haval and Mazda Australia websites. Dimensions wise both cars wheelbase are 2700mm width are similar CX-5 is slightly taller. Boot space for Jolion and CX-5 are 430 and 442 litres respectively. CX-5 is actually small in boot in its category. Haval H6 is 600 and Toyota RAV4 is 620 litres something Jolion being a segment below CX-5 with significantly cheaper price is really awesome. Compared to its segment competitors like CX-3 and Hyundai Kona, it is really what Chinese call Over the Segment Attack.
@sebuwam
@sebuwam 3 жыл бұрын
@@ZZGZBF I agree. The CX5 may be questioned (when looking at the boot space) in its segment but overall a solid machine for its class. Jolion is probably going to kill many that comes its way in its segment and people might sacrifice boot space for the bells and whistles in the Jolion at the price plus here in SA it offers longer service plan and warranty. You need to call Haval Australia though, the boot space figures there appear to be above what it looks like, unless if they consider the spare wheel compartment🤔

Great review. This looks like quite a great car and I'm looking to buy my first car later in the year. My problem is that there's always talk about how hard it is finding spares for cars from these new companies when they don't have manufacturing bases in the RSA. Should that deter me? I'm not trying to wait for parts that still need to be imported and will subsequently cost and arm and a leg.
@sebuwam
@sebuwam 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Mondli. Unfortunately that is the risk with new brands and new cars, I think so far they are importing their cars fully, which means they don't necessarily have a plant for parts (I stand to be corrected on this), meaning parts are only held at certain retail partners and may not be enough, the pandemic is also not making supply chain processes easy. So far I don't know how much it costs to replace staff on Havals as many are fairly new and most issues are accident related than wear and tear. Its one of those things that one is likely to face with new brands or brands that are not selling a lot like Peugeot for example

Hi Timothy, thanks a lot for that. I did that on the Haval H2 (Check Driveability review video) and reason being that I have it with me most of the time. Since I just started it is really quite difficult to convince dealerships to actually let me drive longer distances with their cars. Its a numbers' game though. The more I get interactions like you do now, the more I have leverage to actually negotiate for longer reviews like I did on the Haval H2 but I am working on it. Infact I want a long drive on this one and I want to use this video to actually talk to them about it. I think it would be misleading to give a full performance or driveability opinion without taking the car further than I did in this video.

So the top spec on this car is R398000, if you get prime(7%) plus 3% it will be 10%, which means its R8456 per month over 5 years, if you take it over 6 years R7373 per month. Dealerships normally work out deals for you to better manage it but it may include a deposit or a balloon payment (which I truly discourage unless if you have money sitting in the bank already or have the means to get it). When you see an advert on a car of R400K saying pay R4500p.m usually there are terms and conditions behind it. I personally prefer buying anything if I can be able to pay for it without getting deals crafted to force affordability. Without saying much including a once off admin fee (usually between 3K-5K). You are looking at a total monthly payment of around R7.5K over 6 years or R8.5K over 5 years if there is no deposit/balloon payment. Add insurance of about R1.5K then its around R9K or R10K p.m.

Oh and you can negotiate with different banks yourself, otherwise dealerships can also negotiate for you. I provided direct contact details for any deals you may be looking for.

@@sebuwam Thanks so much Sebuwa for your reply! I really appreciate you taking the time for it :) I'm hopefully moving to SA soon so I am trying to find out my options to buy a car. I was thinking to get a used car for 200k or so but if I can get this brand new Haval for 400k, then surely this is better option I think? Of course the rates all differ according to the bank and or dealership. And if I pay some deposit then I guess rates could be more favorable? Do you how much % deposit upfront is favorable? Thanks again!

@sebuwam 3 жыл бұрын
@@manazirislam4550 Hi, usually 10% deposit does the trick. In SA if you have a good credit score overall, you stand a better chance of low rates. Some people always get deals at prime minus something. Like at 7% which can save you a lot of money.

Awesome video. Jolion really looks great with premium features at an affordable price. If consumption figures are better than the H2, it will definitely sell well. Thanks for a great video once again! So will you be trading in your H2? 😉
@sebuwam
@sebuwam 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Yusuf, when I drove it the fuel consumption figures were as high as a new H2 but I realised overtime that it settles at around 8L/100 the more you drive it, making me think new cars are generally not good on fuel consumption. As for the trade in... No 🤣. Not because I would mind but my pockets would complain. They probably going to take the H2 at 80% of the retail value of a second hand one today. Financially it would not make sense as the H2 is still fairly okay at 18000km.
@mrpeery1
@mrpeery1 3 жыл бұрын
Same here. Loving my H2. Now to just get the consumption below 10L/100km. I noticed the actual manually calculated figure is ~2L/100km higher than the displayed figure.

@@mrpeery1 Yusuf, you must love putting your foot on that accelerator. We hardly see average of 8L per 100km, but its mainly because my wife is driving it more often and she does not like speed at all. I am the one who will come and ruin her good average per 100km.

We purchased one of these last week here in NZ, had it for one day and it nearly killed us. We had it set on cruise control, went around a slight bend in the road, nothing to be concerned about doing 100km/hr and it slammed on the brakes right down to 61km/hrs and a truck behind us nearly rear-ended us, he went to the right and off the road it was shocking. There were no cars ahead of us, no animals on the road, we ended up with a police ticket for dangerous driving causing an accident and the truck repair is looking to be $22,000 as it went into a ditch. Lucky we got insured but our insurer isn't happy and neither were we, we took it back to the dealer and are in the process of getting a refund. They're death traps

Damn, that sounds like a movie situation. I hope everyone is fine though. What I am gathering though is that using modern tech can be quite dangerous especially in cars that are only starting to introduce them. I mean even Volvo and Tesla failed at some of what they were trying to achieve. I wouldn't advice anyone to use adaptive cruise control unless on a straight line. Until it has been adequately tested in many units over time, I will be weary. See "1st editions" of any model are like a quality control test.
