That seems like a lot for a 9x9, but I couldn’t agree any less that it would look cool. 9x9 should be added to WCA.
@MrEFynn8 ай бұрын
@@table5584 I agree, I wish 9x9 was a WCA event. even tho the timer stops at 10 minutes, my average is also 10 minutes. But it would still be fun even if it was a DNF.

It can come out perfect

Could you do that by putting the whole cube in like you did with vapor polishing instead of the separate caps?
@Megaminxcuber8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately no, it can harden together and then be stuck “permanently”

I wish there was a fast way to even out the gel. I waited for hours with mine, and it kept catching dust particles. If I wanted to make a cube glossy now, I'd probably try vapor polishing. You don't have to take the cube apart. It's enough to put some cardboard pieces between the pieces. The UV gel doesn't really flow inside by itself.
@Megaminxcuber8 ай бұрын
Right? Kinda tedius and unfortunate its so “difficult” and takes so long. Thats unfortunate about the dust particles too, very annoying. Thats a good idea, have you tried it before? Also, I totally forgot I seen that in your video, its a genius idea and I think I’m gonna try that, good to know! Thanks so much!
@OlgaFyodorova8 ай бұрын
@@Megaminxcuber Yeah, I tried it, and it was so tedious that I never coated any worthy cube. I'm too picky in what comes to the surface quality. I got some of my cubes' pieces to my liking, but never an entire cube.
@TheCubeChemist8 ай бұрын
You honestly don’t need to dissemble the cube if you are careful when you coat it. It levels way more when it’s actually level. The gel coat I use self levels in 5 mins and then you cure and wipe the excess with an alcohol cloth to get a nice thin even coating.
@Megaminxcuber8 ай бұрын
@@OlgaFyodorova Ah, do you mean with vapor polishing or witht the UV coating? I meant did you try the vapor polishing, but I assume your talking about UV as you were saying its tedious and wasn’t worth coating any cube?

Bro is legit finna pass me in subs😭 Edit: what do you do if it’s a cube without tiles? Say, an aoshi 7x7
@Megaminxcuber8 ай бұрын
Hah, that’d be cool but your pretty far ahead! Technically speaking, the cube is “tiled” you once again have to do it piece by piece (center by center or remove the caps, split the edges into 2 pieces and the corners into 3 and then reassemble) if that helps! I’m also gonna start selling modded meilong v2 7x7s so I’ll text you a message of all the info

So, does polishing melt the plastic, and this is an extra layer of coating, right?
@Megaminxcuber8 ай бұрын
It does not, and its a layer of UV gel that hardens and makes it shiny/grippy.
@ishaanbansal10898 ай бұрын
Oh, but are there any teeny tiny differences in terms of feel between vapor polishing and UV coating?
@Megaminxcuber8 ай бұрын
@@ishaanbansal1089 very small, I think UV coating is more shiny but I like vapor polish better because its grip and its level everywhere even when looking for defects, and UV coating can almost give a “pillowed” feel at some points in time.

could you use this to remove logos from uv coated cubes, if so how would you do it?
@henryeyles8 ай бұрын
would you sand off the logo then uv coat it? or do you need to add like a filler or smth
@Megaminxcuber8 ай бұрын
Fantastic question! I’ve used it to remove logos, but its doesn’t work to well sanding it and the polishing it as it looks darker and will most likely feel different from the factory Uv coating. I am attempting to find a way to perfect it but for now if you do it to the logo you have to do it to every white piece to make it look/feel the same

Can you uv coat glossy cubes?

Yes you can! Factory finish does not matter for vapor polishing or UV coating, just use a tissue or cloth to get any dust/lube/dirt of the outside before doing either!
