Excellent intro. I followed these steps and I was up and running quickly.

Really good overview. As a new Ham, I understood as a concept what Echolink was and had heard it connect/disconnect on my local repeater several times. Your video filled in the knowledge gaps. Nicely done. 73, VE3MXU

Hello Mike - thank you for the comments. The one challenge I have learned from people trying to configure EchoLink, is around the bypassing the router firewall. I will load another video to focus on this also. If you get on, please tweet me @ve1xop and I will make sure to watch for you. 73's

Thanks for the great overview. So, being new, I'd like to ...lurk, I guess I'd have to call it. Is it possible (and not considered rude) to listen to QSO's between other stations to get familiar with how to communicate? Or am I restricted to, once I click on a station it means I'm going to connect?

Wouldt be nice to see whats kind of audio interface u are using with cor cos. The ptt settings , rx settings with com port detection. No vox.
@ve1xop6 жыл бұрын
@@tracelynne you can only connect to 1 station at a time. If the station is in use, you will not be able to connect. Make sense?

Yes this has been a challenge for several people. If you have access to your routers firewall you can adjust the ports + review this: www.echolink.org/firewall-friendly.htm

All that time and you didn’t click on any links so that we could hear what it sounded like. How many people can listen ? How many people can talk on a particular echo link repeater ? Do all persons on an echo link repeater hear you regardless of having a computer ?
@ve1xop11 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching. That's correct I did not click on any links or share any connections. The video was an overview of the software. 7 years back I did't have the ability to have audio from the system to the screen recording software, along with concerns that some people become sensitive being shared on a video. (but I agree with you it would have been nice to have...7 years back this was a Windows XP recording...) Per your questions. Each Node has a limit to amount of the connections, depends on the node/ repeater used. This would be the same for your next question. From my experience I have never been with another person on a node/ repeater at the same time. Echolink is only a gateway via the internet to connect to a terrestrial repeater. For more information you can visit: www.echolink.org/faq.htm /// As for a better video with actual LIVE action -- that's in the works.. As for a conference room with up to 99 stations -- please read: www.echolink.org/conf.htm

It's not clear to me about the "Links" stations. If I connect to one and there is a net going on, then can I hear all the net activity even if I don't want or can't check into that net at the time I am listening? Is that right? Sorry if it is obvious. However, this is the clearest description of Echolink I have seen. My only suggestion would be to connect to a link or repeater and actually make a contact to see the whole process. Thanks, W5WTA
@ve1xop11 ай бұрын
If you connect to a NET via echolink, you will be announced that you have connected via echolink -- you would need to keep active to keep that connection alive or you will time out.. then have to arrive back. BUT yes, it's like you actually connected to the net with a radio. Make sense?
