If there is no adequate documentation of nurse sensitive indicators how do you measure or analyze performance in quality?

I agree! Great question! This becomes a question for nurse leaders to determine by monitoring outcome measurements. Then we have to look at which factors determine outcomes (patient satisfaction survey data, organizational priorities, performance improvement metrics, mandated reporting data, financial and safety measures, and employee satisfaction measures. Each one of the concepts I just mentioned is a whole other video. If you have an interest in these areas - let me know. I will make a video to clarify! Thanks for your question and for tuning into the channel.

Are nurse sensitive indicators a part of nursing quality indicators?

Hi Deniel, thanks for your question. Nurse-sensitive indicators (NSI) help facilities determine a link between the care they provide and patient outcomes. NSIs can be used as a quality indicator to compare care from one facility to another. National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators was established in 1998 by Press Ganey Associates; it is the tool that helps to improve the nursing system and its positive influence on patients and the functioning of the healthcare organizations.
