The Books of Poetry in the Bible: a Quick Overview | Whiteboard Bible Study

The Old Testament is filled with poetry, but six books in particular fall squarely into the poetic genre. In this episode, we look at the books of wisdom (Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes) and songs (Psalms, Song of Songs, and Lamentations) in the Old Testament.
We also take a look at three major themes in these books: wisdom, justice, and lament.

Good video. Have you ever though about doing timelines? I'm working on a Bible/Church timeline using a spread sheet. It sure has helped me get a better picture of the historical order of things.

Dear Jeffrey, I became aware of the wonderful arrangement (and the why for it) in Bible College, where I first read J. Sidlow Baxter's 'Explore the Book.' The Lectures in O.T. Survey usually (by all accounts) never got past the History section, but I devoured Baxter's devotional style and obvious love of the Sacred Writ. In fact, my Bible music (I'm currently involved in trying to set every verse of Scripture to music, and most of the New Testament and Psalms are done!), and my Bible Study Notes are all divided on this same basic Baxter Outline. Your take on the organization of these books is different, but still remeniscent of someone with not only a great love for teaching, but for the Word itself. It's always a blessing to hear you. I've been studying the Word for (COUGH!)ty years, and it's so good to see a young man inspired to bring out the truth. May God continue to bless you always, in all ways.
