Great, great guide! I obsess about my settings and have been frustrated that the game doesn't explain what each setting does, so this guide was really helpful. Ok some characters it improved my performance, for example Widowmaker. A few of them I can't use (for example I need to be able to turn around 180 degrees on Tracer and Genji).

@@DanielZH Legacy Mode still on or off? Because I think Legacy Mode makes it sometimes too slow for me. In siege for example I play with a high sens and work with fine adjustments to the stick. With legacy mode I feel like I need pull the stick 3 times more than in R6 and Apex. Or is there any other option to play with really fine adjustments to the stick? 🤔 Edit: I think the Legacy Mode work really good for me at range to hit pharas and widows but close range like tracers or sombras its not the best. ( I played Soldier and Cassidy)

@@pavel7550 yes that's right, legacy mode Makes it immediate effect, while normal mode is ease in and out as shown in the video, still, Normal mode ia better overall, and if you feel stick is much, you can Lower aim assist strength

Nice video! I like your explanation and reasons for the aim setting - its always nice to hear different perspectives on the topic as I've been adjusting the settings for years! Aim ease in is not a deadzone slider, however it gives that illusion by making small movements less sensitive. As David mentioned here in the comments, aim ease in changes the steepness of the aim curve. Aim ease in at 0 on linear ramp should be a perfectly straight line from 0% to 100% move speed with 0% to 100% stick movement. Increasing the aim ease in changes the shape of the aim from a straight line to a curve, so the more you increase the aim ease in the more that linear ramp behaves like exponential ramp. I would even go as far to say that 100% aim ease in on linear ramp is exaggerated enough to feel like dual zone, where you can't really move the crosshair for much of the joystick range of motion, and then suddenly the speed ramps up as you near full stick deflection. You said you were not sure what the word exponential meant in one of your last videos; I'd suggest looking at maths to visualise and see the difference between an exponential function and a linear function but a simple TLDR; exponential is a curve and linear is a straight line with regards to mathematical plots on graphs. Personally I use linear ramp - dual zone gave me a headache trying to track enemies that are moving in between speeds of the two zones. Linear ramp feels more natural to me and I feel that I have more control over the whole range of motion instead of a slow zone/fast zone, or the 'stepped' feeling of exponential ramp. IIRC my settings are 80/80 Horiz/vert sens, 100% aim assist, 20% - 30% aim assist window, 50% aim assist ease in (used to use 0 for a while for that super strong stick on target), 20% aim ease in (0% is too sensitive at small movements for me to use , used to be 30% at one time). I used to use lower sens but there were too many Genji's and Tracers, so I needed to increase it. At the end of the day, aim settings are personal to the individual - write down your settings on paper to remember your best ones, but don't be afraid to try new settings and adjust. Your settings are optimal to your preference and should work with you to help you perform the best you can, whether you use fast or slow, dual zone/expo/linear, or whatever else. :)

I also play with Linear ramp for most characters for now! I'll give a try to your settings too, thanks.

@@DanielZH I also forgot to mention, I use kontrolfreek thumbstick extenders. I can't remember the exact product name but I have quite tall ones. It takes some time to get used to it but it helps me make small thumbstick adjustments at higher sensitivities, so there is that fact to consider too. If I did not use these I would likely use a lower sensitivity maybe 50 or 60

I feel like I must be stupid. I've been tweaking my aim settings for weeks now on every character I play. It never feels quite right. I watched your videos and I made my settings similar on linear ramp but starting out minimum 10% higher sensitivity. (I am more comfortable with high sensitivity but I can concede that I should probably not play as high as I was. ) thank you for the advice. Hopefully it works out for me. Keep making great content!

Then it's bed time but I must say I played one game as hog and although I couldn't turn around quickly for any divers I had much more control mid range which made up for it. Thanks, actually with max Ease in 100% dead Zone increases to about 24% of whole stick! so something lower than 50 might be similar to default settings of other games. however, until 80 still works fine for me.

Hi, it depends on how you play, can't say a specific type is better, for example many people usually prefer Linear Ramp and exponential Ramp, because it's similar to other games, but some prefer dual zone even with default settings as they got used to it. You can try each method for 1 match and tweak then to see which feels better in your hands

Man at first I was all about linear, but I ended up going back to dual zone. My biggest issue is figuring out what smoothing I want. Any smoothing kind makes my aim delayed which makes sense but it really throws of my flicks and tracking. With no aim smoothing my aim for long range is amazing, but at close it can be to jumpy. So tough to figure out what works.

Hi, I understand you, for dualzone, it's better to keep smotthing less than 99 and not go so low because second zone can come in fast and ruin everything, however for linear and exponential until 40-30 feels natural. are you a long-range player? if yes, then dual zone and after that exponential ramp would work fine, with high aim assist like legacy mode.

@@DanielZH I play alot of Cassidy and Genji so I trying to find the right balance in universal settings for them. Like last night I put 70/70 sensitivity, smoothing to 0 with aim assist ease in at 80, ease in 0, and my aim with Cassidy went from 50 to 70 percent. Genji also felt better. It felt good but when I started playing reaper and had to shoot people up close, turning at point blank range felt to jittery.

This is a very good video to understand how the aim assist system works! But can you explain why you put such small values of vertical and horizontal? On particularly fast heroes like Genji, I have 100 horizontally, and this is not always enough for sharp turns

Hi, thanks, I think I forgot to mention these sensitivity settings arent' the ones I'm using, they're just left so people can use any sens they like, the main settings I tried to do were others rather than sensitivity as that's personal. For example, I'm recently using Edge with High Curve at start and Higher sense with Dualzone and eliminated the second part which is way too fast normally and it's giving me a very good results for characters like soldier.

Hello Danial. I have a question for you. I have been playing on the Xbox Series x and just recently got a PS5 after not having owned a PS since the PS2. I started to play OW2 on the PS5 with my friend who also just got PS4. We both set our aim settings to what we had on our Series X/S's and for some reason it feels like we can't turn the camera as good as we can when we play on Xbox. Are the Playstation controllers special in some way?

Hi, these settings are for console, on PC, you don't have any aim assist.

Aim ease in is actually not a deadzone slider since it effects the whole curve, not just the lower end. So the higher end becomes slower as well. Lineair ramp on 37 is actually almost the same as expo ramp. Legacy mode means old aim assist settings, before aim assist ease in was implemented. Aim assist ease is at 0 gives you you instant aim assist when entering the aim assist window. 100 gives you full aim assist in the middle of the window. That is why it is called aim assist ease in. Aim assist window around 20 lines up with the actual character model, but you still need to decide what aim assist ease in you use with it. 0 aim assist window is actually still a small window with aim assist. Smoothing is delay before acceleration, and I would suggest 99 as a setting to experiment with since it's more responsive than a 100 which is just awful. The aim assist is very strong so lowering it by a a couple of points could be useful on heroes where you can't burst through the aim assist bubble because it feels like mud. At 20 aim assist strength is starts becoming unnoticeable, your character won't turn as much as on the higher settings. Thanks for making clear dual zone ramps up at 90%, always thought it was 80%.

DVA range In the video you mention decreasing the Aim assist strength however with your DVA settings the aim strength is unchanged - I'm aware that these are your personal settings. I've seen some comments already mentioned that some people have a lot of difficult with the aim being too jump at close range when the enemy is moving.

Hi thanks, yes Aim Assist is a bit much in this game, However I'm always refining the settings, if I'm gonna Play DVA now, I would use these settings as they're very good for DVA: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2iyepmQoNdkbK8 these settings are similar to Call of Duty game, but they work very good for AR and Tank, still, you can adjust each one that feels not good.

I don't understand, you wanna have high sensitivity? Just increase it then, in that case, lower aim smoothing will be also better (not in dual zone btw)

Notice in your controls under aim technique theres a dual sense trigger feedback. I'm on ps5 but dont have this option and I didnt see any option to download a "ps5" version.

@@DanielZH when I go there my only options are ow2 ps4 and ow: beta. If I search for it it brings up the ps5 free version and when I click on it it brings me to the same version I have. Update Had to use the phone app. Search for it there, add to library then remote download. What a hassle.

damn these are really slow, idk how you use them. you turn way too slow, especially for characters like tracer, you need to be able to turn around after blinking behind enemies. i use 85 on linear

@@DanielZH fair enough, you just might have a bit of trouble if ur getting flanked a lot. I use 88/42 x/y, 36. aim smoothing and 26 aim ease in. :)

@@DanielZH It has none, the option is completely blank. Lol. Everything from Aim Assist Strength thru Aim Assist Ease In are gone from PC version. Preferred Mode is also not on PC version either. You get option on what to make your max and min framerate instead.
