I’m still baffled they removed the basic features the extreme casuals loved, such as level borders & border tiers, I really wanted to have a platinum border, but I think OW1 ended with me at gold 3 star border. My friends had diamond borders (the max) and the only time I personally played competitive was like once in season 7 where I quit at 4,000 (grandmaster), yet I still had 1,500+ hours from mostly quickplay with friends alone. My friend who was #1 DPS season 1-4 (Xbox) even quit before OW2 since they just didn’t update the game whatsoever, they left a GAME OF THE YEAR GAME for OW2 development!!!

with all due respect, there's a lot wrong with this video regarding your critiques of Overwatch First up, the monetization is almost identical to a whole host of other F2P live service games, you cannot tell me in good conscience that OW2's monetization is any worse than Rival's (except for the carryover battlepasses which are lit tbh) or Fortnite's or Apex's Second, 2024 has probably been the best year for hero releases in terms of design quality, compared to 2023 which had Lifeweaver Illari and Mauga (some of the most universally accepted dogshit hero designs) this year we had Venture (unique flex dps with a high skill ceiling and level of skill expression) Juno (probably the best support design they're put out in a long ass time with a fun gameplay loop as well as not being oppressive when she's hard meta, outside of the ult which they just nerfed) and Hazard (more controversial but community sentiment is generally that he's overtuned as fuck in terms of stats but a well designed tank with a huge skill ceiling that enables more active and fun comps as opposed to the Juno+Brig Mauga/Orisa/Ram meta that we had for the last 4ish months, also he's just really fun to play) Third of all, quickplay really isn't that dead I don't know where you're getting this from? The only times I've consistently queued into the same people over and over again is in open queue, quickplay is pretty lively and so is ranked rn Lastly I don't know where you're getting the skeleton crew thing from, to my understanding the Microsoft layoffs were for the most part just the lore team, the dev team has been more active than it's ever been compared to OW1 especially compared to the drought years, we were lucky to get a patch every 2-3 months, now we get 2 patches (minimum) a season + a new hero/map depending on what the season is, it's not Rival's level of absolutely VOMITTING out content all the time but it's not really what I would describe as a skeleton crew I will always endorse shitting on blizzard customer support though, those guys are useless bums

Honestly I wouldn’t say its unfair since everyone knows marvel, yes it could be a factor, but I see that as for skins and characters. What really sold it for me was the gameplay. Rivals just a more chaotic and fun experience that OW1 used to have. OW I think it started to fall was with the almost 2-3 year stagnation it had before it was announced it will be closed and turned into ow2. Ow2 also didn’t live up to promises it had even with ow1 (pve, brand new events, etc) hell they removed a good portion of maps and game modes on release. If anything Ow2 had multiple chances to fix itself. Even when rivals was announced. I do genuinely believe Blizzard is struggling because it never had any other game that had competed with it this harshly. What even made it worst for ow2 was when an ex game dev for Ow2 came out and called out Black Widow as a Widow Maker ripoff.

That's what I was thinking, rivals definitely dipped into the fortnite player pool since they do both play sorta similar, both being 3rd person chaotic games in unreal engine, so I bet alot enjoyed the game and play both now, so I don't think the argument of battle net for overwatch is as strong as they think, especially since most the ow players that are fed up are older players, the ones that are happy with the direction of ow are the ones that joined more around the time steam went up as that's after they took away the dps passive, giga buffed stuff like orisa bastion or torb, and admitted pve is dead, so the players that are on steam are likely the ones that looked pasted all that, otherwise why else would you join a game like ow after all that, so if anything that should be where they retain the most percentage wise, plus xbox was done for ow right as rivals launched so I'm sure they lost alot more than they normally would have than as well.. I think ow is alot more fked than people are thinking, and people already think its fked lol

@ᲽCP yea its bascially 2016 overwatch made for fortnite players lol Overwatch is first person and also is now slow and boring, some enjoy that but most liked when dive was the best option in early ow1 before they added so many heros that just slowed the game down, now you just sit inna choke shooting thr same thing all game, that's an aspect of hero shooters but it shouldn't be the entire experience which is just about is now in ow sadly, but rivals has that chaotic fast pace hero shooter gameplay which is why it's blowing up so much now.. you dash in as genji and than do anything and you got moira brig mei winston put immediately and the next time you just die over an over and unless you swap you're now stuck as a poke bot for 80% of the game, but than as spiderman you just don't have this issue, when you're feeding its often just an actual skill issue as spiderman.

In OW1 I played mostly as an off-tank and to lesser extent supports and even during content drought I had a lot of fun. Believe me, I really, really tried to like OW2, but 5v5 experience to me is not enjoyable at all and last year I decided to uninstall the game. Instead of improving the game by changing character design that caused problems in the first place, they decided to change the core format of the game, thinking it's some kind of panacea. The truth is, that change required character rebalance anyway and with it they took away some features that were universally fun. I know a lot of people like the new format and I'm truly happy for them, but there are also a lot of people like me to whom it feels like old and loyal players were sacrificed on the altar to gain new ones. The worst thing is it's not what they promised. At first there was no talk about the new format. OW1 was supposed to be as it was and OW2 was supposed to be just the PvE content. People who wanted to play old version were denied and we rightfully wanted to at least have it as a permanent option in the Arcade and we were denied it either. Now, two years later when Marvel Rivals is launched, they bringing back 6v6? It's laughable and pathetic how they treated us and it's hard not to hate the game when its creators are the least trustworthy gaming company I've ever seen. I honestly don't blame those players who feel this way. Besides this, there are people who hate the game not because of the company, but because of what it has become. I myself don't really care about Blizzard's evil actions and wrong-doing as long as they make quality products, but in my personal opinion they don't deliver that either. I still play Heroes of the Storm (Blizzard's IP) despite it being in the maintenance mode with no new big updates, because to me it's as fun as ever and I feel sad that I cannot say the same thing about Overwatch despite it being actively developed. While waiting for a new PC to eventually check Marvel Rivals out, I will look closely how OW2 is being developed and maybe I'll give it a chance once they convince me to play it, but for now, I can't really see myself going back. Maybe Marvel Rivals, a much needed competition on the market, will shake Blizzard up and at last wake them up from their slumber. I really hope it will.

I'm an 8 year overwatch player. Ball is still my favorite hero every created but 5v5 destroyed him. If they bring 6v6 back for real I'll still play BUT their god awful balance team makes it hard to return even if they do bring back 6v6 officially. The 6v6 test balance is absolutely pathetic and they aren't even trying to balance it. You'd think they'd give it at least 1 balance patch but nope. Such a bad test. Like how dumb do you have to be to give the entire support role buffs for loss of the off tank in 5v5 and then let ALL those buffs stay when moving back to 6v6. And then they give us this max 3 min 1 mode as if triple support isn't going to immediately dominate. They constantly buff meta heroes too. They've lost literally all their streamers cause of this pathetic balancing. While Marvel Rivals doesn't have great balance yet, it's a new game, poor balance is expected in the beginning. But it gives us hope that this team won't be full of tards. Overwatch has set the bar so low.
