14:30 as an Ex-Dota2 player, I understood the punishment for Quickplay leavers at the beginning. I played a lot of Dota2 back then and still never dared to even think about joining ranked, because unranked was already toxic, hard and dead-serious. Now that I have played more Overwatch ranked and unranked, I agree that punishing leavers in Quickplay is weird.

Please give us unranked mode I'm begging. The argument against it I always hear is "just play quickplay" Sometimes I wanna warm up for ranked but my team is fucking around, WHICH IS FINE BECAUSE IT'S QUICKPLAY. But i get 0 warmup from that. Sometimes I wanna try a hero I'm not good at and I'VE LITERALLY BEEN REPORTED FOR PRACTICING A HERO I'M NEW TO. I'M NOT EVEN JOKING. MULTIPLE TIMES. IN QUICKPLAY. Adding a new mode only helps us. I don't see why it would be bad to add an extra mode.

the unranked mode is a good idea. Especially if it had better matchmaking that tried to group you with your approximate ranked placement. idk if quickplay balances the average, or just tries to mirror 1 player against another on each side, but I've had games against top 500's and I've done nothing but cry. This makes quickplay 45% roll, 45% get rolled, 10% good game. Unranked where you'll never have to vs a top 500 unless you're masters or above sounds goated.

15:41 I can relate. I get penalized because the game kicks me out from my internet connection. I’m not trying to throw, but the game doesn’t like my home internet or my hotspot. Quick Play shouldn’t get any penalties when it’s not made for competitive games. People should be allowed to leave whenever they want to during those games, but it’s stupid how I get the penalty for the game hating my internet connection.

Don't punish people for leaving qp. Reward players for backfilling! You can easily just slap a exp bonus on it, if you queue up for backfilling in a match. So instead of choosing your role, you can choose "backfilling" as well, putting you in a game where you are needed and where you EXPECT to be backfilling. It is so simple, come on Blizzard..

It doesn't matter if it is competitive or not, you are ruining the expirience of other players, it's quite unoften that leavers are replaced in any decent timing and, even if they do, by that point you already lost 1 or 2 fights for free and the tides are completelly against you Creating a 'standard' mode makes no sense. Why separate the pools of players even more? No one's forcing you to care about you rank, if you perform less competitivelly you will be send to a lower rank where your competency will be aligned to the others' If people throw just to not get punished for leaving, they should get punished for throwing. People who are busy and try to play a quick match won't leave that many games or the punishments will just not be as long as they are away doing other stuff. No 'busy person' is leaving matches and closing the game for less than 4-8 hours or leaving 10+ matches. If anyone is, that's their problem, how are you leaving half of your games? (These matches left counts are per 20 matches, so to get a 48h ban you need to leave half) What rewards do you want to give players for staying in the match? Seriously, I can't think of anything that isn't meaningless or exploitable This guy's spiting, yes. A bunch of 'I want to leave when my team is ass' doodoo. And yes, there are some verry sweaty quickplay games, I prefer to go for competitive for that, but it happens quite often actually. Nothing needs to be at stake to have a try hard game, it's fun

Quickplay shouldn’t be serious anyway that’s what competitive was created for, in fact the other non serious game modes (arcade and custom) don’t have any leaver penalties whatsoever. Also the qp system registers any time you leave a game as you leaving that game, it doesn’t take into account tech issues such as your pc crashing or internet dying, so there shouldn’t be punishments for something that is out of your control. Besides you should be able to take a step back from a game if your not having fun, you do it in other games, if you’re not having fun you pause the game, quit out and come back to it at a later time

It doesn't ruin the game because if someone leave the matchmaking can easily replace the leaver with another player, in fact that would be better than stuck the whole game with bad team. In Addition to that Quick Play essentially for to practice and experience different characters Wining is secondary thing, and if you care about and you will lose you too can leave the game and find better team and fun game it is more save for your time. However this new system will force you to stay with bad game and bad team and lose any way, it is the worst decision they have do so far!

I just had an idea. If you backfill in QP, you are granted some amount of ult charge. You get more the less time is remaining/ how close a payload is to the end. If you join with 30 seconds left or the cart is 10m away from the end, but you get a free ult, maybe you could do something. Even if you can't, getting a free ult is fun, and it is worth your time to try.

QP does need leaver penalties so that the game remains fun, but the leaver penalties they added are too harsh. I do actually agree that adding a separate QP mode - "Unranked" - that mimicks ranked without the SR changes would be good. Give THAT the penalties and remove it from QP, I can dig that. I've always wanted to try the ranked modes where you switch teams after def/att, but QP doesn't get that and I'm never touching ranked. I'm guilty of doing the "wander around the map and just idle" thing if I get a shitty game. Sometimes it's not worth trying 'cause the game's gonna end in 10 seconds anyway. But now you can't leave, so... Now you're forced to just waste time.

i dont think anyone mentioned it not having backfill? it would just be like a combo of qp and ranked, you get backfill, no ranks however, you get to attack and defend (like in comp) and the leavers penalties would be similar to the current qp ones. also people leave qp because its just supposed to be fun or for warming up and if youre in a match youre not having fun in or have throwers in why should you be forced to waste your time and play that out when you can just go next and your spot will be filled instantly. Making a penalty for people leaving matches they are not enjoying just encourages toxic environments and bad mood, instead of just leaving now theres animosity between the team because they believe its their teammates fault they are having a bad game and they are forced to play it to the end even if they know it will end quickly or badly.

I understand leaving qp if you're not having a good time, but the issue with that is.. it's qp don't take it seriously if you're losing or someone's throwing who tf cares it's qp just stay and mess around. considering it's for warm up you can still warm up your aim on real people. I'll stipulate that the threshold for punishment is too low, but there's no way you're getting throwers in more than like 5 out of 20 games, or at least that's my experience. Getting rolled definitely happens more in qp but it's gonna happen just as much in the other game mode if they're not focusing on match quality the same as ranked and if they are then just play ranked. Also getting rolled would last longer and you still get punished for leaving the new game mode that the tiktok guy suggested. Overall, in my opinion, just play comp if you want to not have leavers and take qp less seriously.

@@Miscz_ so the thing we seem to not agree on is whether there should be any punishment at all. I agree we should be able to leave the match without punishment. Where we seem to disagree is that I think there should be a limit to how many games you leave. Leaving can cause the match to suck for all the other people. Like the tiktok guys said if you are the backfill it sucks and isn't fun which can make you leave. Now the rest of the match is pointless for all 9 other players. Yes it doesn't matter but it wastes everyone's time in that match. Now you could argue if there were no punishment for leaving the 9 other people could just leave. I find that to not work because that just ruins your fun if you have to leave and go back to queuing just because one person left. Now the second non comp game mode would be pointless because the same arguments would be made for having no punishments for leaving it because it doesn't matter since nobody's rank is at stake

About QP, if you are a new player you have to win 50 games before rank mode are available, the more you lose the lower rank you will start with when playing the placement matchs. I agree with punishing leavers in QP

(people would get their 50 matches from that mode instead of quick play which makes more sense anyways to prepare you for comp because of the mimic ruleset)

There should be penalties for leaving qp matches, but definitely not so harsh like they are right now. If people have so little patience, so they have to leave every game, there is Arcade for this kind of people. QP is for practice, warm ups or just for people who dont want to play ranked, but still want a similar experience. People being able to leave most games without consequences isnt the right way. If youre so stressed out while playing unranked, so you have to ruin other peoples games by leaving or throwing, you should conside taking a break from the game and not complaining about leaver penalties.
