Overwatch has a more nuanced character lineup than say Transformers, (Autobots vs Decepticons) with many characters having their own complex motivations and stories. Roadhog was part of a group of freedom fighter citizens that rebelled when their government made a deal and gave the Australian omnium and most of the Outback to the omnics. When the omnium was destroyed it irradiated most of the Outback and I guess after living in the brutal environment and radiation for so long he turned into a criminal. I guess he's not "bad" as in, he doesn't work for Reaper and isn't part of the plot to destroy Overwatch, but he's definitely not good either because he's a murdering criminal. Mccree was a criminal, then was recruited by Reaper into the black ops arm of Overwatch (which was good at the time), but when Reaper turned evil, McCree left. From the comics you can plainly see that McCree is "good" because he cares about doing the right thing, protecting people and fighting evil, but he has no interest in joining Overwatch. Bastion is a rogue killer robot... no one knows if he's good or evil lol.

I haven't played OverWatch before, but the reason why I came here is because I love Jet Set Radio, Jet Set Radio Future and Splatoon, and I read a comment saying Lucio from OverWatch gave a similar vibe, so I wanted to see him as a character. Now that I see other characters, I have new favorites :) My favorite characters, along with animation, is Junkrat's Rip Tire, Lucio's In the Groove, Mei's Skating Around, Reaper's Executioner, Tracer's Serious Business, Winston's Glasses, Bastion's Ganymede, D'Va's Lying Around, and Symmetra's Askew. Thanks for showing off the character animation, Mark Hoo :) I wish this game was in 3rd Person Shooter like Splatoon, because I love their character designs.

I might get some flak for this, but I feel the male characters have a lot more variety in facial and body design than the females. Most of the women have the same body type, they're all mostly human-looking, and not a single one keeps her face covered (whereas several of the men where masks constantly.) Zarya has a different body type, but she still has the stereotypical pretty face. There are definitely cool female characters, just wish they had as much variety look-wise as the dudes.

The typical male "strongman" character is Zarya here, and the typical male "old person" character is Ana here. And Mei's chubby face is super adorable too, lol.

Ana actually is a good example, I honestly forgot about since she's not in the video. Body-wise, I would have liked more muscular females and maybe even some stockier ones (like Roadhog or Tobjorn). But more than that, I feel the facial designs are all very similar. Look at Junkrat, McCree, Tobjorn, Hanzo; there's a lot of facial diversity. IMO, the women seem to have a similar pretty design, with small differences to differentiate ethnicities. Moreover, every single woman has a human face which shows at some point. Several of the men wear masks at all points, plus there are nonhuman men (Winston, Zenyatta, Bastion). I know I just wrote an essay lol, but this is honestly a small criticism. Overall, this game's strongest asset is the characters' distinct personalities and looks. I really love most of the design choices.

Most single player games are $60 for a 30 hour solo campaign, while multiplayer games are $60 for a 1,000+ hour experience plus making dozens of online friends... some games attempt to be both, of course, but I'd rather a game choose to do one thing well, and Overwatch seems to do it!
