Support Main (And Former Mercy Main) here. You may be surprised, but that's all Support's mentalities. We can leave you to die at a moment's notice. We can leave the entire team to die if we decide. Or we can carry all of the team at once if we decide to. Be glad that most Supports are inclined to help than hurt. Be glad someone picks a Support without being asked to do so. It is a thankless job, indeed.

My favourite line in this event is actually from Reinhardt narrating. One of his lines when someone dies is "The heroes' defense was not enough, as one of their numbers fell. If only they had a shield to stand behind...hm..." Or when Multiple people die at once: "Oh, how the heroes lamented their need for a shield, realizing too late they had taken for granted its protection." Good 'ol Reinhardt. A shame he couldn't at least help out in the defense from time to time.

I can't help but wonder how much of this is actually canon. The voice lines where the crew reflect on the history between Ana and 76 seem to imply that the two were not quite friends when Overwatch collapsed.

I interpreted them as being friends, just with some sad memories. It's not that they did not like each other, just that their jobs were in a difficult environment.

A lot of the lines between these characters reflect the characters' relationships and interactions in the real world too. An example, is that the ghost (Tracer) asks the monk (Zenyatta) why he trusts the Countess (Widowmaker) whom killed his master (Mondatta). In terms of Ana and Soldier though, they've been in many battles together. i think the unhappy history Ana mentions may refer to all the hardships they've had to endure together.
