So, I get that the leaders of the Shimada clan asked him to kill Genji, and that this event pains him to this day. But if he really regrets it, if this is the point he bases his whole grief on, why does he raises his bow at Genji again at the end of Dragons? If the brother you love turned out to be alive again, you'd be rejoiced wouldn't you? Why is it such a conflict for Hanzo? Also, Genji says he forgives Hanzo, but it doesn't look like he does. Otherwise, what was the point of this whole scene he made about nearly killing Hanzo? They keep talking about honor in the short, and I don't think I truly get what they mean by it. I'm sure there is some great storytelling behind this, Basically the former leader of the Shimadas (Hanzo & Genji's father) let Genji do as he pleased and didn't force him to become a part of the Yakuza like the rest of the family. This made pretty much everyone in the family super pissed off, but they couldn't act because Genji was protected. When their father died, Hanzo gave him an ultimatum. Join us or die. Genji refused to join them, and so Hanzo basically dismembered him and left him for dead. However, Overwatch had put a tail on Genji, since he was a potential asset, and Mercy was able to save Genji's life. Overwatch presented Genji with an offer of their own, once he was awake and recovering. We'll give you a new body, in exchange you help us destroy your family. He accepted. After Genji helped overwatch split up the family, he went off on his own because he was conflicted with what he had become with his artificial body. During his travels, he met Zenyatta, who helped him come to terms with what happened. This is when he forgave Hanzo. It's revealed during the short that Hanzo had been visiting the castle every year on the date he supposedly killed Genji to pay his respects. To Hanzo, Genji not joining the family business (Yakuza) was dishonorable, however he died in combat, which was an honorable death. When it's revealed that Genji never died, Hanzo is upset because not only did his brother not die with Honor, but he himself has been dishonored by not succeeding in killing Genji and turning him in to something not human.

When Hanzo realized what has become of his brother, he just couldn't accept it. It took him a pause before raising that bow against him once more. Hanzo exhibits apparent hatred to Omnics or probably the whole idea of Synthesis as he deliberately shutdown the sole Omnic guard while leaving the human counterparts merely knocked out. If that's the case, Hanzo wouldn't be the only one in the lore who stands against Omnics. Torbjorn and Junkrat displayed similar hatred as well. Genji was probably displaying his power to show Hanzo who's boss now. Seriously though, it wasn't Genji that started the fight. When Genji merely started talking to Hanzo, the latter automatically assumed he's an assassin sent to kill him. The fight was not going to stop until Genji has gained the upper hand, leaving Hanzo with no other option, and this is exactly when showing mercy counts the most, and it's exactly when it displays Genji's strongest suit.

Hanzo just think about "honor and dishonor". In Genji's fact, he think his little brother like a shameful of the family and must be wipe out, but he doesn't know the feeling of brotherhood until he slay Genji, and that's why he regret it.

Also, when u said that genji didnt seem to forgive hanzo here, i think that this comic happened before he left overwatch (before he met zenyatta) so he still hasnt found his inner peace yet. This is why he still seems angry

its complicated with japanses honor and al lthat, hanzo killed genji shimada, the boy who didnt really had to do anything in his life, saw his brother as a second teacher or something and was always happy, he rarely saw genji sad about something ( i guess) and he did horrible things back then... now in front of hanzo... stands a new person... ther is no smile anymore, not the genji he knew, not the little brother he loved, and before he took off his mask hanzo didnt know it was genji, he just raised his bow to keep him fro mgoing again... for hanzo, genji in his youth and the cyborg are spererate entitys in the same body, he killed his brother this day ann someone else took this place, someone he just doesnt know enough to see that it really is the genji and that the boy isalive and just grown up... damm that was weird to explain xD and genji did not die with honor that day, he agreed to go agains his clan to survive, which makes him kind of a traitor

This reminds me of the floor-scrubbing scene from "Joseph King of Dreams", where the younger brother (Joseph) imagines that his older brothers brothers would mock him if they only saw him. Naturally, he gets angry and frustrated at the thought of them being condescending towards his position and scrubs the floors harder and harder.
