Interesting note about Spy's invisibility. Certain things such as getting shot or bumping into someone will cause him to "glint" outlining the player and alerting the enemy team to their location. Additionally, effects such as being on fire or covered in milk show through invisibility and give you away too.

Your question about Spy's invisibility is that it has a weakness, his invisibility is essentially destroyed if he is set on fire or is doused by a liquid (milk, piss, water, etc.). He will be partially invisible but visible enough to see and be vulnerable.

Stabby has a very in-depth video on the mechanics of spy stabbing on youtube. In my opinion though, the best practice for playing spy is to put at least 10-20 hours in all the other classes. That will give you plenty experience dealing with enemy spies, learning from the bad and good, and figuring out how to act when you're disguised as different classes.
@Nia_Pan
@Nia_Pan 11 ай бұрын
Something additional to the video of how it feels to play spy, is that in the game there is an audio recording system with which you can interact with other characters without using voice chat (currently it works for f2p), I mean, the characters have pre-recorded voices, for example, you can say "There's a spy!", or, "That Sniper is a Spy!". And your whole team will be looking for the spy.

The magic of TF2 movement is that once you master is EVERY game now becomes a playground for TF2 style movement. And the ‘hit or miss’ style with heavy could be his revving and firing because as a good heavy you must know WHEN to rev and when it’s safe to be unreved because any class can kill a heavy if they heavy isn’t revved and ready for the fight so that’s how I feel heavy fits into the ‘hit or miss’ argument

When spy gets shot he flashes if invisible. Flash meaning his silhouette slightly shows up but it does not fully break his invisibility. He has a couple of items that alter how his cloak works depending on the needs of the situation. The standard invisibility watch is a switch on/switch off. It has a limited amount of time but you can refresh it by picking up ammo boxes on the map even while stealthing about. The Cloak and Dagger is a slight variation on it. With it equipped your cloak time is limited by your motion. Every step you take while invisible depletes the time while standing still slowly regenerates it essentially allowing spy to remain invisible indefinitely at the cost of being speedy. On the far opposite end from the Invis. Watch you have the Dead Ringer, a toggle item that you either hold or put away. It gives you no option for invisibility on demand but instead, if you take any damage while you have it toggled, you will drop a fake corpse while making a death sound on the spot, instantly going invisible for a limited duration of time. When the time runs out you will forcibly de-cloak with a rather noticeable sound in game that might alert enemies to your presence.

In TF2, a 'backstab' is a hit on the rear 180d of a character's hit-box. This is why matador stabs (quick sidestepping a the last second) are so effective, because you only need to get a few degrees past the side to get a backstab.

Your question about invisibility can differ with normal invisibility cloaks - you can run out of the invisibility time, which you can refill by waiting while being visible or taking ammo pack the one lazy used (and most Meta'ish) - you can stand still in invisibility to regain it, but its quite slow, plus you cant take ammo pack with it, unlike other ones. In common - usually bumping, getting on fire, being covered in milk or piss and such gives out your location cause you stop being fully invisible for a moment

Invisibility weaknesses: •Each invisibility watch has a set time it can work. The Cloak and Dagger does break this by recharging while standing still invisibly, but the others only give you a set time invisible, and the Cloak and Dagger stops you from moving much while invisible. Plus, the Dead Ringer can't just be activated, you need to take damage to do so. •You can't attack while invisible •You can still be hit with jarate, milk, lit on fire, etc to be made visible as these effects still show •Taking damage or bumping into someone makes you momentarily translucent and visible to all players, unless using the Dead Ringer. Lazy was just lucky enough to miss the heavy's bullets in that one clip.

The way spys invisiblity works is that you have a meter that goes down as you stay invisible. You can use the "cloak and dagger" watch to drain cloak faster but slowly regain cloak if you don't move. You can't attack or do anything other than move while invisible and it takes 1 second to fully cloak and 2 to fully decloak. It also makes a noise when cloaking or decloaking. If you get bumped into or hurt you'll flicker and be partially visible for a second. You can also get covered in liquids while invisible, and fire from the pyro is by far the best spy detecting tool due to how easy it is to spray and reveal people.
@natchu96
@natchu96 11 ай бұрын
To add to the fire thing, the only real ways to stop being on fire is to get doused in liquid, but that itself also reveals you anyway, and there isn't exactly going to be water around every corner. Invisibility has some weaknesses. Bumping onto enemies or getting shot while invisible will cause the Spy to become only see-through, but visible. Also, fire and liquids will reveal invisible Spies, so, Pyro is pretty much the best character to reveal Spies, since he can just spray fire everywhere and burn nearby invisible Spies. Also, the stock invisibility watch has a timer, but the one Lazy is using is called "Cloak and Dagger", which allows Spy to have infinite invisibility time as long as he stands still, since it drains when he moves and recharges when he stops moving

Ok. So some notes on spy. The revolver that can get headshots deals 102 damage at close range if you hit a headshot. 51 if you hit them in the body. The spy's cloak lasts for up to 10 seconds with the default invis watch. Cloak also provides the spy with a 20% damage resistance. Bumping into enemy players or taking damage will cause the spy's cloak to "blink". The spy shimmers for a moment but remains invisible. If the spy comes in contact with a liquid like water, milk, or piss, the substance will drip off of him even while cloaked. Fire causes the spy to light up like a Christmas tree. Negative effects such as milk, piss, and fire have their durations halved while the spy is cloaked. Backstabs deal double your target's health. Backstabs also always crit, so the end up dealing six times your target's health in practice. Landing a butterknife (hitting anywhere but the back with the knife) deals 40 damage. Sometimes the game will decide a butterknife was a Backstab and those we like to call facestabs. In order to increase the spy's odds of landing Backstabs, the community has come up with what we dub trickstabs. Named as such since you need to trick your opponent into doing something to land a trick stab. Lazy Purple demonstrated one in the video when he talked about how the medic knew that he knew. We call that one a matador. You trick your opponent into thinking you will strafe one way before strafing the other way. Essentially, getting your opponent to look left while you move right. There is also the stair stab. Travel up an incline while someone is chasing you and then jump backwards so you land behind them.

The reason why most players don't move into Spy's hiding spot near an elevated platform is because "movement speed is life." Most players avoid running into hard obstacles on the map because it slows them down, channeling their direction along the same line as the edge of the obstacle and as we all know (especially Heavy), slow = dead. At least, that's my take on it.

My best suggestion would be to react to “the most fashionable faction” a tf2 animated song by stupendium, every work he puts out is a masterpiece and his tf2 song is one of his best

ambassador trades random crits for guaranteed crits on headshot, but headshots are subject to damage falloff. And a 15% damage penalty. stock revolver does 120 on a random crit. also, yeah, you definitely learned during a match you played that scout is still strong head to head. Hehe....

12:34 Halo Infinite deciding to make strafe acceleration *absurdly fast* despite it working more like TF2 in the past made the game feel way worse than it would have otherwise because 343 was so worried about movement feeling responsive. By the time you pull the trigger on a single-fire weapon your target already juked two inches in the other direction and you've missed. It's kinda reverse proof of what Lazy is saying.

I add follow ups mainly via replies, just letting you know that when there is drawing outlining the guns and hands that means he had the first person models turned off, also spy can be revealed when cloaked by knocking into people or being hit and fire bleed jarate and other similar effects with tinting show your outline in that tint but the effect is also shortened when cloaked.
